Matchmaking

I have Legacy 3 on all but one Survivor, haven't played for 6+ months on PC.

Rank 20 Survivor (because I haven't played on PC), getting matched with red and purple rank.

Whatever you are doing DOES NOT WORK.

That's completely ridiculous and I feel really bad for anyone new trying to play this game.

What a joke.

It takes time for MMR to stabilize itself and ranks now no longer matter. Just because it has been running in the background doesn't mean it'll be perfect. MMR considers your opponent's elo as well and as long as SBMM is not allowed to stabilize, you will never get proper games.

If someone hasn't played, how is their MMR stabilizing or doing anything?

There is no reason WHATSOEVER that should happen, especially for someone that is new.

I'm unsure how long MMR system has been running in the background but it might be for over a year for all we know. Besides, if you get unfair matches like this, you'll slowly get put to where you belong. It needs time to settle down.

My Huntress is P3 lvl 50 figured my first game I would see how the game feels she should be matched up mind you I would put her in my top 5. Get 2 rank 4's and 2 rank 20's now they all had all maxed out meta so not sure if they were real 20's but dead at 4 gens on midwich no less. Next game lets try Bubba since I got a daily same thing P3 lvl 50. 2 survivors left 3 minutes and thats only cause I let them reset so I can try to pip (I didn't). 1 rank 8 rest were 13 or higher. Didn't get my 4 chainsaws the game ended so fast so did another with him and got 2 reds and 2 greens dead at 2 or 3 gens can't remember and got another dwight for my collection (hope I'm close). So it did upgrade my opponents in just one game and if you haven't played in 6 months there ain't alot of data on you and calling people stupid for their opinions only reflects your image bud.

Do you mean Prestige 3? If so and you have that on all but one survivor you have a decent amount of time and experience in the game and should be at that level.

I've taken a 5 month break away from this game before and I didn't forget how to play I actually played better because I wanted to play the game again.

If someone that is brand new to this game is constantly being beaten because MMR does not know that it shouldn't put them in matches with people that have "higher skill" these new players will eventually leave and probably before they "even" out. this is what happened last time. players with 2 hours of play time and I mean litterally 2 hours where you have played maybe 4 games, are being placed in matches with people that have played 2K+ hours. it's as if they just turned off match making once again and let it willy nilly place people in hopes it'll even out. plus this skill based match making system is so secretive that there is no way that we, the players can have confidence in what is done. as it is right now the ranking system is better than nothing even though it is flawed and supposedly the system has been watching for the better part of 6 or 8 months but it's "WATCHING" and recording from a flawed system thus it's data is quite possibly incorrect and thus will make match making on this new system irrelevant. This system should treat someone like the OP as brand new since there is little data and not throw them against highly skilled players.

I am not saying that it has to be perfect but for us to be confident we will get a good match we need to know and understand how this system works, and a vague message saying that this is based on how you preform against a specific killer does not instill confidence in the game. I'm a fair to middling survivor honestly I'm not great what so ever, but because of this if i'm placed against high ranked nurses which I usually don't make it out, how is this fair? but they'll say all is working as intended as they did for almost a month last time before admitting there was a problem and "removed" this skill based matchmaking. IT felt last time as if it was just making any matching it wanted but they said it was working as intended for a month then something happened?

Behavior: you need to have something to show us that this is working, your word that it is working DOES not instill confidence in this. hiding the matching numbers makes it easy for you to brush off complaints and make us wonder if we should keep playing. You keep saying that if you reveal how it works it'll make it so that people can game the system, but it also will give us confidence that we know the system is working even if it is being gamed. You will always have people that seek the advantage. but if that means they throw the matches what difference is it now? and a 24 hour test is not enough but you know this as well as we do and you seem unwilling to get people from widely different skill levels to participate in a beta with some sort of incentive to do so, for the time that is required. You have ways to contact us directly and invite specific people in a large enough sample to agree to a specific test of the system over a long period of time. you seem unwilling to listen to the feed back from players in regards to the game from normal ptb's and this 24 hour test will only show us that you've turned off match making without anything to put in it's place due to the level of confidence in this game. look to the last 3 major patches and the backlash of survivors quitting for a while then killers doing the same and survivors coming back then survivors again quitting the game. it's not because they are being petulant but they are showing you that they do not like what has been done.

Look at my play record, at this point of the rift i'm usually in the 30's or 40's of the rift yet i'm only at tier 22 and haven't played for several days. I normaly purchase or get an expansion within 3-4 days of it being released (DLC) yet I waited over 2 months to get the twins DLC. it wasn't a money issue, it was my confidence in your ability to produce a product worth purchasing, when I felt it was worth purchasing I did so.

Can we not resort to personal attacks? On the topic: mmr takes a while to get used to your skill level in any game. Overwatch and rainbow use placements but dbd doesnt have a competitive mode or placement matches so they are just trying to tie it with the game as a whole. So give it time after like 10 matches i got to matches that felt very even.

Yes, apparently playing against Rank 20 Killer's with a single perk is completely acceptable too if that's your response.

Is that the point you're trying to make?

This might sound ridiculous to you, but hear me out.

    A Legacy 3 player isn´t completely new!

No because a killer playing at rank 20 with only one perk wouldn't have had anywhere near the time or experience in the game you have to had if you've prestige 3 all but one character.

Is throwing out irrelevant statements proving your point?

Were the red/purple your teammates or the killer's? What was your rank before you stopped playing?

From a survivor side, I'm a rank 18 that got paired with a few purples against a rank 12 killer. Honestly it was a good match. Purple Survivors may have been too high and killer was the correct rank, and my rank was probably too low but I have almost prestiged Elodie.

From a killer, I find matches harder since I'm being paired against 4 actual opponents as opposed to the normal 2 good/2potatoes, which snowballs in my favor. I played multiple matches as killer and survivor and they all ended up as 1-2k, only 1 match was a 4k (I died).

By your statement, it's completely acceptable for a Rank 20 Killer to match against four red rank Survivors, correct?

Their new matchmaking had absolutely no relevance regarding skill level or Rank on the matches I played no matter how many games have been played now or before, and it most certainly would not have been better for someone that had just started playing the game regardless of playing Killer or Survivor.

If you cannot figure that out, I don't know what to tell you.

Multiple Rank 20's were disconnecting in my games, hence the reason I went to play on PC and this post.

So you're completely ignoring the fact that a brand new rank 20 and one that has enough time and experience to P3 all but one character and come back after taking a break are two completely different things. If you can't figure that out then I don't know what to tell you either.
