Shrine of Secrets
I was wondering, are the current shrine perks worth getting? I was thinking of getting Inner Strength but wasn't sure, I've heard alot about Stridor also. I'm still kinda new and don't know which perks are the best to use, I play both survivor and killer. This is my first post, hope I'm doing this right haha. Hope everyone's has a great weekend 😊

Strider is only good on spirit, 1on any other killer it's just ok.

100% Inner Strength, it's such a good survivor perk and incredibly helpful in both countering NOED and making sure you're nice and healed. Plus, it's from a DLC character "Nancy Wheeler" (from the Stranger Things DLC) and can only be obtained with money, so definitely go for that one.
Iron Will, too, is another incredibly solid perk. If they aren't using Stridor, it's one of the biggest counters for "The Spirit", as well as being good in almost every situation. You can hide better and pull off much better mindgames because you make substantially less noise. This, imo, is a must-have for survivor games in the higher ranks, when you're much more comfortable playing injured so healing perks like Inner Strength have less value. However, as it's on a base character "Jake Park", prioritise Inner Strength first.
Stridor is only really useful on one killer- "The Spirit"- and it's arguably her best (and most obnoxious) perk. It's a very strong perk that counters Iron Will, and allows you to track survivors easier, however I'd suggest not using it when you're newer, as then you'll become reliant on it for tracking, which isn't ideal. As it's from a base character "The Nurse", I'd still say to focus on Inner Strength over this.
Agitation is... well, it's not a bad perk per-say, but it's not a good perk either, definitely not on the strength of the other three. This would be your last pick.
A list of the order I'd get these perks:
1) Inner Strength (strong effect, DLC character)
2) Iron Will/Stridor (strong effect, base character, pick one or the other depending on which side you play more, or who you're more likely to level up first, Jake or Nurse).
3) Agitation (average/lackluster effect, base character).

Yup, you're doing just fine! I ask for advice on the shrine perks, too. There's so many, and it helps to be able to ask the community what utility they get out of certain ones. Welcome! 😊

Inner strength is absolutely worthwhile imo. Especially at the 10+ ranks where a lot of Survivors ignore totems. Not only does it help teach good gameplay habits, but it's a heal that doesn't require a smart teammate or leave you exposed.
3 -
Inner strength is great. It's a fast heal and works towards removing NOED.
Stridor is a good perk on Spirit or Nurse, you may want it if you intend to play one of those. On other killers it's nice due to how bad sounds are post-2018 but you'll likely never take it over other perks.

Ah okay, I haven't bought the spirit killer. Thank you!

Thank you so much, that really helps!! I just bought Inner Strength :) what are some other good perks for both sides that aren't in the Shrine right now?
1 -
Yes there is so many, I never know which ones to pick! Thank you so much! You all are so nice and helpful :)

That's true, I just now got it. Thank you for your help! :)

Ah okay, I don't have Spirit and I tried to play as Nurse one time and so bad haha. Thank you for your help :) but what is NOED? I've seen it mentioned alot but don't know what it is lol

If you're a newer player, you have some options available.
First, you can seek other players to SWF with (Survivie With Friends). They can be on a similar level, but the most important thing imo is your group vibes together. I've been lucky enough to find more skilled players to play with, and their advice and experience has made me a better player.
If you have interest in finding a swf group, you can post in the forums to look for a good fit. The DbD Discord is also an option, and they also offer gameplay tutors. It really depends what you're comfortable with.
If you're more of a solitary/solo q player, there's many competent Fog Whisperer's and streamers that can help you learn how to effectively juke a killer, undersrand maps, recognize Totem spawns, etc. There's much information, but no shortage of community members happy to share their experience and expertise. Just make sure you're happy with whatever path you choose 💜

This is the first time where i've never seen a picture... of a goddamn cute animal pic...in this specific post..

Inner Strength is a good perk. Slightly less so if you have trouble finding Totems like I do, but it is good. Also it is a teachable from Nancy Wheeler who's a licensed Survivor, so you won't be able to get her and unlock her perks through the bloodweb without spending irl money.
I wouldn't bother spending shards to get any of the other 3. None of them are bad, its just that Iron Will is on Jake, who's free. Agitation is on Trapper who's free. Stridor is on Nurse who's free. If you are new, your Shards are worth significantly more than BP because you need those shards to unlock other characters and cosmetics you might want.

inner strength is a perk of a licensed character and the perk is also rlly good. i recommend getting it. stridor is only good on spirit and agitation only decreases the already slim chances of the survivor getting off your shoulder. iron will is one of the best perks in the game but you shouldnt get it from the shrine, level up jake instead

Honestly all of them are.
Inner strength is okay, iron will is major meta, agitation has some uses, stridor has it's uses....

Also, I've heard alot about the perk Spine Chill. I used it once but it didn't really help me. But I probably didn't know what I was doing either lol

I was being serious so I thought it not a good idea.

Spine Chill is definitely worth running, especially as a newer player. It alerts you when the killer is looking in your direction -- when it stays lit up, it's likely you have company headed your way. It's a huge defense against stealth killers, particularly Myers and Ghostface.

That all depends on personal preference but I can give you some of my favourite perks that I use depending on the killer:
KILLER
-I'm All Ears ("The Ghost Face", level 30)
-Hex: Ruin ("The Hag", level 35)
-Corrupt Intervention ("The Plague", level 30)
-Infectious Fright ("The Plague", level 35)
-Hex: Undying ("The Blight", level 40)
-Pop Goes The Weasel ("The Clown, level 40).
Out of all of those, I think Corrupt and Pop are the two most consistent and valuable perks.
SURVIVORS
-Decisive Strike (Laurie Strode, level 40)
-Object Of Obsession (Laurie Strode, level 35)
-Iron Will (in shrine)
-We're Gonna Live Forever (David King, level 30)
-Dead Hard (David King, level 35)
-Sprint Burst (Meg Thomas, level 35)
-Adrenaline (Meg Thomas, level 40)
-Prove Thyself (Dwight Fairfield, level 35)
Right now my survivor build is Iron Will, We're Gonna Live Forever, Prove Thyself, and Decisive Strike.
It's worth noting that Object Of Obsession is an incredibly hated perk and often seen as toxic, so using it may get you camped/tunneled a lot more than usual.
It's also worth noting some of these perks have anti-synergy together (such as Dead Hard and Sprint Burst, or Hex:Ruin and Pop). It's just something to take into account.
Finally there are definitely some good perks that just aren't meta- Fixated (Nancy Wheeler, level 35) and Autodidact (Adam Francis, level 40) are some of my personal favourites. It's about experimenting and finding something that works for you.

NOED is a shortened version of the perk Hex: No One Escapes Death (hence the NOED). It activates when the exit gates are powered (not necessarily when all gens are done) and gives the killer a 2%/3%/4% boost to movement speed and all survivors are "Exposed" - one shot.
The way to disable the perk is to cleanse the associated hex totem (which will be glowy and seen around the map). However, it's possible to disable it before it reaches the endgame by cleansing all 5 dull totems too (something the community loves to oversimplify with the phrase 'do bones') before the gates are powered.
This can be a massive issue in solo due a lack of coordination and if the killer doesn't have NOED, effectively wasting minutes at a time doing nothing. However with Inner Strength, there's a viable reason to be cleansing the totems that doesn't stem form something the killer may-or-may-not have and your teammates may-or-may-not be attempting to counter too; you can heal yourself up too.
That's okay! Spine Chill lights up when the killer is looking at you. Against regular killers, like Trapper or Doctor, it won't be the most helpful, but against stealthy killers like Ghost Face, Wraith, Pig, and even more so Myers ("The Shape") it's a life saver. It let's you know when the killer is approaching you, hence why against stealthy killers it's good, and gives you an early warning to GTFO. It's also helpful if the killer uses Tinkerer (removes your red stain, heartbeat, and ability to be seen with aura perks for 12/14/16 seconds when a generator reaches 70%) as they're effectively a stealth killer whilst under it's effect.
But like a lot of perks, it depends entirely on your playstyle. For example as I so eloquently put it, "I don't use Spine Chil because I have eyes and ears, and because if it's a Deathslinger I'll be raging anyway so I might as well put the silent terror radius on", however some people I know like the perk and the counterplay it offers. Especially to Spirit and Deathslinger (cause ohhh boy do they need it but that's a topic for another thread).

Not the person you're replying to, but when I first started, Spine Chill and Kindred were super helpful for me! They're part of the general pool for all survivors, but they were the most helpful. Took me awhile to get used to them though.
Like Karu said, Spine Chill (cat shaped icon) let's you know if a killer is looking in your direction. It blinks on and off, on if they're looking at your direction at a certain distance from you, and off if not. I keep an eye on it to know if they're about to find me, and that was valuable to me when I was first learning how to hide from killers lol
Kindred (eye with hook in it) helps you see where your other teammates are on map once someone is hooked, plus the killer if the killer is near the hooked survivor's body. Super good for knowing what everyone is up to and planning what to do next, like rescuing if no one else is able to, or if the killer is camping the victim's body.
As others have mentioned, Inner Strength is neato, it's a cleanse-totem, get-heal-free kinda deal to me. But because I'm awful at map awareness and didn't memorize where totems tend to spawn, I ended up skipping it. Depends your playstyle aha. As for Iron Will, it's free if you play Jake Park enough, so there's always that!

Stridor, Iron Will and Agitation are perks from base characters, its not worth taking them on the Shrine, just level Nurse/Trapper/Jake to 40 and unblock all their perks.
1 -
if you plan on getting all the characters, don't bother with the shrine, save the currency to get new characters and/or cosmetics. It really doesn't take a lot of time to get a character to lvl 40 and unlock their stuff.
but yes, inner strenght is really good. it's like a pocket heal for when you need it.
iron will is one of the strongest survivors perks, and yet somehow underrated...
stridor is good on 2 killers basically, spirit and nurse. and nurse has better stuff to use anyway...
agitation is very situational, but pretty good on those situations

Thank you! I've met a few random nice people playing and became friends with them and played a few rounds with some of them. One guy I met always helps so much when we play together! Thank you for all your help, I really appreciate it 💕

I always have trouble finding totems lol. I got Inner Strength last night and was able to use it a couple times already though and getting a little better at finding them :) that's true, I'll save the rest of my shards. They're definitely harder to get than BP. Thank you for the help!
1 -
I went ahead and got Inner Strength, it really helps! I don't have Spirit so I won't get Stridor or Agitation and save my shards. I'll definitely work on leveling Jake up, thank you for the help :)

Thank you soo much!! I really appreciate all your help :)

Inter strength is a really good perk I would recommend buying that one. You can pair it with small game to help you find totems.

No worries! Anything else you get confused about I can try to explain it too :)

Thank you so much, I'll try Spine Chill again, it sounds very helpful! And yes I'm using Kindred and love it! It really helps alot, it's one of my favorite survivor perks so far lol. I ended up getting Inner Strength, I'm horrible at finding totems but I've found a few since getting the perk luckily, maybe I'll start finding them better lol. I think I'll work on leveling up Jake for Iron Will. Thank you for your help :)

I ended up buying Inner Strength but I always have trouble finding totems, Small game helps you find them? I didn't realize that, thank you so much :)
0 -
No prob, happy to help a fellow survivor in the fog! :) You'll be better than me at finding totems in no time haha
Also, for totems, a tip I learned from the forums is to get small game, but leave it at level 1. Don't try to increase it to 3 if you have trouble finding totems.
The concept is, Small Game's radius increases the more you level it (8 meters at tier 1, 10m at tier 2,and 12m at tier 3). Which means, the higher leveled it is, the more it'll go off the /farther/ you are from a totem. For a more accurate trigger, it's easier to keep your Small Game at tier 1, so that when you do hear it go off, you'll probably be closer to the actual location lol. (instead of me with the Small Game maxed out walking in circles looking for the dang thing lol)
1 -
Inner strength if you haven't got the stranger things pack otherwise it's a waste of shards just throw some BPs at nurse and get stridor that way and then you can unlock Nurses calling too

Not replying to me but I'll answer it anyway:
Small Game's effect is that it makes a little "ding" whenever you look at a totem or trap every I think 15 seconds. Another perk to help find totems is "Detective's Hunch" (Detective Tapp, level 35), and whenever a generator is completed this perk shows the aura of all nearby totems, gens, and chests.
