So I guess we'll never get that Claudette skin which won the last art-contest?
I've seen the latest announcement from BHVR regarding another community art/design-contest for a pair of killer/survivor skins. How come the previous winner (survivor: Claudette) wasn't released yet? Did they decide to skip it?

That's extremely lazy of them. The community has spoken and they need to listen. Is it really too much to ask for them to refine their own model? This is an insult to the person who spent all this time on creating the skin. That's like robbing them of their reward.

It got disliked because they just changed it. The community wanted the original one.

...that's exactly what they're doing. The community disliked the original design, so they held it back to make it closer to the artist's original vision. It's still coming.

Yeah, they said they'll hold it back to work on it so it'll be closer to the concept.
No one said that they straight up cancelled the skin.

If memory serves me well, when the WIP was revealled, the thong was not visible, which caused uproar in the community.
I really wish that was a bad dream.

The thing is, the original concept art really didn't look like Claudette at all. Her skin tone was far too pale, and her body shape way too curvy. It was never going to translate well to her actual player model.
The outfit itself was accurate, bar the thong and logo on the back, but it was never going to look right because the art simply didn't represent Claudette as she is depicted in-game.

I hadn't even realized they had announced another round of the contest already. Regardless, Claudette's new cosmetic is coming, the only question is if it'll be worth the wait.

No one is complaining that they gave her a necklace or that her sweat pants have a stripe on one side.
People are upset they removed the thong, and that she doesn't 'fill out' the outfit as much as she does in the original concept. Which, to me, are both ridiculous complaints.
The model they showed looked completely fine, given what they had to work with. The original art barely resembled Claudette at all, and was extremely basic (to the point of being boring) in design, especially when compared to the Legion outfit that won alongside it, and the Feng outfit from the year before.

he design was never going to translate 100% into the game because the art doesn't resemble Claudette. That's it.
I for one am interested in seeing the redesign the team has supposedly been working on, because short of giving her a huge tan and somehow widening her hips, there's nothing they can really do to make it look anymore like the art then it did previously.
Edit: Except for adding the thong, of course.

This is one case where they are probably better going off their own judgement rather than the communities, that design is horrid and doesn't fit the character of Claudette one bit. Damn don't prove the devs right it just makes them more stubborn to change their opinion when they are wrong - i.e. Gideon meat plant rework

What the devs were gonna add
They added a necklace that doesn't match, the shoes are a darker purple that doesn't match, and worst of all the hair. It's too flat and it should've had more volume like Elodie's.
IMO they added too much, I liked the simplicity of the artist's version.

honestly wouldn't care it's not a good skin at all, even if they fix it and put it closer to what the art was. that really cool yui skin that was super popular should have won.

I mean, the thong will go, no matter what.
But regarding the rest, IMO the most important thing is that the artist is happy. It would be really bad if someone designs a Cosmetic, it wins a contest and the ingame-result does not look like the winning design. So I am quite happy that they delayed it.

I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that people would unironically get upset that Claudette's shoes is a slightly darker shade of purple (which due to the lighting in the model picture, may not actually be true).
I'm not "blind to the other complaints", I'm saying it is ridiculous for people to get worked up over those miniscule details.
The design as a whole is intact. Yellow hooded jacket, black crop top, grey sweat pants and bandages wrapped along the arms.
I didn't see people get upset when they added blood and dirt all over Puddles the Clown when he was completely clean in the submission.

Honestly I was surprised they chose that design because it's so weak when compared to the other 3 they've chosen and its competition in the contest. And then despite choosing a very plain looking outfit they managed to make it look worse.

I'm still looking forward to this, and I agree with the people who said that the drawing is so stylized that it's hard to translate to the in-game cosmetics and that the first effort they made was kind of underwhelming.
I also noticed that the contest rules this time were super clear about how you have to sign a release form that gives BHVR license to do whatever they want with your concept, and I wonder whether the friction over this skin made them change their communication strategy.
