YOU GUYS ARE HOPELESS.
what is wrong with you. why you tell us you got hacked a week after. what was the point. you could have remain silent and it would have been the same. you are hopeless.

What would be the point in putting out a message when it happened saying we've been hacked for people to panic.
It happened and they have dealt with it and they are letting us know what happened and that they are putting different things in place to ensure it doesn't happen again.
They could have stayed silent and we would have been none the wiser, but they kept open communication with the community which is a good thing even if it has come from a bad situation.

If they got hacked Id rather know it and be warned, even if there is no risk at all for my account, its called transparency and is a good thing.
Id rather know the world around me than live on a fake security bubble.

Seems like they wanted to make sure they knew the full extent of the damage done.

God the devs never communicate with us. They are hopeless.
God the devs told us a hack happened, they should have just remained quiet. They are hopeless.
The only hopeless thing here is this community

There are data security laws in some countries that require them to notify us.
As for the timeline, they probably had to confirm that they'd been hacked, discover what information was breached, determine how many users were affected, and look for secondary breaches. A few days really does't surprise me.

Jesus, this community complains no matter what BHVR does. Others have already pointed out the reasons they probably waited a bit. At least they told us.
On a second note, where is everybody finding this info? I haven't played the game in a few weeks, was it on the in-game news?

In game news had it up yesterday, as well as a few other threads on this forum that the mods responded to already. Doesn't look like they really got at personal data, just usernames, no real names, addresses or financial stuff, but they may be able to work out your email to send you a phishing email, or in game message to try and get something, but as long as you keep basic internet safety precautions in mind, you should be fine

Ah, alright then. Thank you for elaborating!

did you read what i say. they got hacked one week before they announce it.

So would you rather they said they'd been hacked immediately after it happened while not being able to confirm if they got any vital information nor that they fixed it?

Aren't they required BY LAW to inform of a data breach in some jurisdictions?
If anything, it's nice to see they aren't hiding anything.

by law they MUST disclose the hack to those that may OR MAY NOT have been affected so that people can take appropriate measures. The SEC can and will fine them if they do not inform the customers of said hack. They need to do so in a timely manner but without investigating to see what has been compromised they can not fully inform us of what was vulnerable. The other aspect is that they are to disclose that action has or has not been taken as well. This can not happen at time line 0. To expand on this, the Equifax hack was not revealed for over 3-6 months AFTER the fact. 1 week is one hell of a turn around.
my apologies the requirement to report is to do so after discovery of said hack not the actual hack itself. and equifax's hack was reported 3-6 months AFTER it was discovered and you want to yell at a company that tells you only 1 week after a hack happens? WOW!

What is communication? Never heard that word in my life.

Yup. One week. 7 days.
Now let's do some comparison.
On average, companies take about 197 days to identify and 69 days to contain a breach according to IBM.

Again. BHVR took 7 days.
