What counts as winning a match?
As a survivor, what counts as winning a match? Escaping the match? Rescuing the most people? Having the most overall skill? I am curious of other people's opinions on this :)

For me I don't count it a win unless at least 3 escape. Just as on killer I count a win as at least 3 dead.
2 is a draw, 1, even if it's me, is a loss for the team

This is how I feel, though obviously I'll feel a bit better if I'm the one escapee than if it's someone else.

I keep it simple, if I escape i win. Bittersweet win if you have to leave someone on a hook to a camping noed/rancor killer, but still a win. If im on that hook im thinkin please don't give the killer another kill. If more survivors escape because im camped, that's my second place prize

Rank isn't it for me. It's a nice number and makes me feel good, but eh if people based their personal wins on pipping, it'd feel so sweaty I'd think.
In my SWFs, I consider it a win if one of us gets out, even at the cost of others. I don't mind getting hooked if it means my friends get out.
In solos, I consider it a win if I get out, followed by if me getting hooked directly helps a random get out. When 1-2 other people are with me on a gen and the killer comes, I intentionally hop off of gens to distract him, and if I get hooked or die in that pursuit and see the others complete objectives, then that works for me. (given, this isn't a good strategy, especially if I'm not great at chases, but I feel like being a martyr contributes better than trying to figure a mind game lol)
Overall, I really like getting blood points, no matter how little or how much. Being able to spend them after accumulating them makes my lizard brain feel good, so that's a win too.

Survivors have a ton of different objectives they can go for to give a bit of that 'victory' feeling. If I've got good stacks on my WGLF, I'm set, even if I get sacrificed.
For a killer, I need at least one kill to feel like I've gotten 'a win'.
Set your targets low and be pleasantly surprised when you surpass them. Honestly, I think we need more talents like WGLF, which massively reward alternative goals. Non-stacking with each other, of course.

Pretty much entirely what you decide is a win. Consider a killer can potentially 4K and get a depip there really is no real way of telling.

Or if I complete a time challenge.

For me doing objectives,killer chases and save-heal teammates so overall be a good teammate. There are matches where 3 person escaped and I died because of after 3-4 min chase killer decided to face camp me. Is that a lost for me since my main goal is escape? I think not. Being a good teammate is win for me. Other than that I feel lost when I escape with a little to no effort cause that was the team that achieved it.
Overall dont overthink and just do your job as survivor. Being a good teammate is always a win in my opinion no matter how that is gonna be ended.

Personally:
Survivor - Safety pip or pip up. Having fun is nice too. Pips are the only solid thing I really have to judge whether or not my trial was productive, and while it is certainly not a flawless system, it does well to make me feel like I proved my worth.
Killer - 3k or more. 3k with hatch is fine. 3k and letting the last one out of the gate is fine. I just want my 3k.

As a solo, as escape is a win, whether I make it alone through exit or hatch. A 5 gen hatch escape I wouldn't consider a win though.

For survivors, I don't count it a win unless at least 3 survivors escape.
The developers say the average result should be 2 kills, 2 escapes. So if one side gets more, they win, and the other side loses IMO.

As a killer, I'm going for 3 kills - 2 is a draw, 1 or less is a loss.
As a survivor, it depends.
If I survive, I won regardless if I got out.
That being said, I'll happily take a sacrifice if it means my actions got one or more people out.

I would suggest not seeing 4 man escapes or 4 man kills as the only wins.
This is bassicly a flawless victory in fighting games and your view on balance will be really screwed if you only count that as a win

A win for me is a 2k or better. I'm simply not willing to slug for the 4k. It is boring.
As survivor? I feel pretty good if I get a couple gens, couple saves. Mostly it's just nice being stress free.

I mostly consider it a win for me if I do one of 3 things
1. Escape
2. Annoy the killer to the point he tunnels or face camps
3. Complete my rift challenge or daily

Point 2 is interesting. Most people on here seem to try and avoid killers tunneling or camping, yet you want to trigger it?

Oh 100% I don't mind being a lamb to the slaughter if it means my team get to gen rush and leave while I waste killers time by being that one survivor they dread to let back into play bring a torch or some firecrackers save a survivor or two and you're guaranteed to be chased all over the map haha

It depends. Sometimes it's about completing a challenge, or getting the pip. Escaping is an obvious one, but normally it's about how I have challenged myself. I don't measure it in terms of getting one over my opponent.

Fair enough, makes a certain amount of sense I suppose, if you are a decent looper and can keep a killer busy, tilting them so they focus on you will definitely save the survivors like me who loop for ######### :)
When I play killer that stuff doesn't bother me. Really the only in game action that annoys me as killer is when the survivors won and refuse to leave out the open gate, but then I just set the controller down and grab a drink, hit the bathroom, whatever I need at the time. Blinding, saving and body blocking is just what survivors do to try to survive.

I'm the same way with Midwitch You'd think it would be easy, but I always get lost there, either as killer or Survivor. As killer it's almost more annoying cause I'll spend forever trying to find the gen when I can see the aura and hear it being worked on.

Exactly. If I escape but I have done nothing during the whole match, it's not a win.
If I get killed but I have repaired generators, unhooked and healed teammates, taken protection hits, been chased, cleansed totems... If I had enough time to get involved as much as possible, it's a win for me. Better if I helped someone to escape. Well, I like to escape too, but it's kind of a bonus to me.

Survivor winning is escaping. I don't ######### care about pip since dev can make it as easy as they want to get them which is currently the case it's really a consolation prize for not escaping most of the time.

Personally I don't think a number can be put to it and it depends on if the match was fun or not on if it is a winning. Not on how many generators are done, how many escape, etc.
Basically it falls on all 4 survivors and the killer to make it fun. Survivors who rage quit ruin it for everyone else(survivor and killer) in the match, killers that camp or tunnel also ruin it(it's not fun to wait for a match only to have an inexperienced killer sit at the hook and camp or chase down the same one until they are sacrificed when there are other survivors still in the match), survivors who body block ruin it making it not fun for the killer, etc.

Yeah Pretty much this. When I play survivor, I don't call it a "win" per se unless 3 make it out. When I play killer, at least 3k I call it a win, especially of the last one just makes it to the hatch. 2/2 is kind of a "meh, take it or leave it"

Up to you. Some say...:
- Escaping the match.
- Doing few gens, few bones and unhooks.
- Pipping counts as a win.
- More than 2 people escaping is a win.
- And more...

Killer-Survivor (kills vs escapes) 4-0 and 3-1 is a win for killer. 2-2 is a draw and at 1-3, 0-4 the killer lost.

For your own sanity, to avoid getting tilted, I suggest you count every match a win, no matter the outcome. You always earn something and you always learn something. Set long term goals, so you are not tilted by any immediate setbacks. Does that make sense?
In general, you can set your personal win conditions to whatever you want. The DEV really don't set any particular win conditions, and oddly you can score a ton of points in games you die in simply by being productive. You can likewise get out alive and score little in the way of Emblem advancement and Blood Points. So, depending on what you are trying to do in a given match (Daily, Rift, BP, Emblems, Escape), there are lots of winning situations.
All that being said, Killers generally consider 0-1 Kills a loss, 2 Kills a draw, and 3+ Kills a win. Survivors are the inverse, i.e. 0-1 Escape a loss, 2 Escapes a draw, and 3+ Escapes a win. *It doesn't matter if your Survivor is dead or alive; as a team the win/draw/loss is generally considered by the overall team. This is how MOST people tend to see it, although as I said earlier, you can define things however you want them personally.
