Devotion prestige 3 level 16 indicates that you are not a rank 17 new by.

Incase you missed it at the top part of your screen where it says
"A new version of the Skill-Based Matchmaking (SBM) system has been activated for a 24hr test to collect data on the system's performance.
During this time,
(rank will not be used for matchmaking)
and you may experience a wider range between player ranks in your matches.
Killers will each have their own SBM rating for matchmaking purposes."

So you intentionally deranked to face newbies, but the new mmr wasn't fooled and you had to play with people who had put the same time into the game as you did? What a shame.

Bizaarly, this could be proof that the new system is working! If it's picking skills which aren't based on rank but on actual play, a tier 3 perk-wielding, level 3 devotion player vs red rank tier 3 players ... as someone here said earlier, this will flush out the derankers. In which case, kudos BHVR!

MMR doesnt work will never work idk why they dont understand this. this game doesnt have the proper amount of players for it neither, so they should just stop with these non sense and put it back to what it was. because is creating a lot of unfun times for everyone.

The way it was was literally not working at all and many many people were and are complaining about it.
MMR will not magically make all matches perfectly balanced, but it can’t really get much worse that it was before..

the thing is they don't need a flawless system, they just need something good enough that is not using the rank system which resets monthly and can get abused by derankers, something that can catch someone like our good friend OP, for example

they previously implemented MMR and was awful, 1 year later stil awful, i think is enough to know it wont work.

it was working decent, most people werent complaining, it was just the baby 100/500hs players complaining, is way worse with the MMR u get punished by playing decent at the game and getting paired with spirits with stridor and nurses with heavy sluging builds non stop, thats way worse, way unfunnier. its jsut bad, never worked, never will everytone complained back in the day most are complaning now and more will complain when finally gets in the game.

i believe you when you say you will always complain about it.
rank based matchmaking is actually just awful and is not working as intended. At all. Many people with much more hours were complaining. And it often didn’t even match fairly either way, especially when SWF with different ranks were involved, but I guess no one complained about that either, right?

To the various people saying that this was MMR catching me out on deranking:
I have just come back to playing after not touching the game for quite some while. I haven't played since shortly after the Blight was added, and now there's a new killer in the game, plus the Trickster in PTB.
I've only once reached red ranks, and that was just a short stint at Rank 4 after making a big push to get there using some of the nicer addons.
While I remember the basic workings of the game, I'm far from where I was when I was purple raked, and I think it's properly absurd I'd be ranked against an all-red team, one of which R1, when I'd just 2k'd against a yellow/green team.
