Left Behind has only been in the Shrine twice, compared to BBQ's 5 times, despite being an older perk.
It's just random. It looks like it's rare because you're waiting for it and ignoring every other result.

That's RNG for you. Fun fact: the odds of BBQ (or any other perk) being in the Shrine actually decrease as time goes on, because there are more perks overall.

RNGesus had decided very early on Killers just need to git gud at Shrine of Secrets.

It's actually not any more rare than any other perk. There's just a lot of 'em.
BBQ is after all the only real decent perk that allows you to maximize your BP gains. Perks like Distressing and Beast of Prey
(lol)only allow you to get to the maximum 8k faster. By that same logic, WGLF is also a rare perk in the shrine but survivors gain stacks and BP much less than killers so people mostly want BBQ.You could also argue that WGLF is a free perk while BBQ is DLC but yeah.

BBQ, DS, and some strong perks are kinda behind a paywall that benefits not only BHVR but also the owners of the licenses. Not everyone wants to play Laurie or Bubba, but everyone wants those perks. Making them plentiful in the shrine would deter people who want to have access to them without purchasing the respective chapters.

It really isn't. It's likely that the number of times a perk like predator has been in the shrine is less than how many times BBQ has been. But the thing is you don't really care about the perk so you don't feel how rare it is.

the perk is meta + its from a licensed character so obviously theyre not just gonna give it away.

they just make sure that the perks from the archives appear in it.

The Shrine is random every week, excluding new perks for a set time (I don't remember it). If a perk goes into the Shrine it is then restricted from reappearing in the Shrine for at least 3 weeks, after which it is in the pool for randomly appearing again.
Decisive Strike was just in the Shrine, and Inner Strength is in the Shrine right now, so this argument is invalid
Surge was in the Shrine 2 weeks ago, so it's still restricted from showing again for another week at least, then you have to wait for RNG

BBQ literally cuts the grind for BP in half and it's on a licensed killer. The devs want you to buy the dlc for it. If you don't then you have to play the game twice as much to lvl up. The longer you play the game the more likely you are to buy useless cosmetics.

Along with this, because of Tome challenges, it makes it even harder to get BBQ in the shrine as 1 (or even 2!) killer perks are forced into the shrine because its a dlc perk

Inner Strength took 78 weeks to finally appear on the Shrine. Like, I'm not saying they do hide perks from the Shrine because the perk is useful and licensed (because they don't need to, the Shrine is so horribly designed as is that it happens naturally), but IS being on the Shrine after a year and a half would tend to support swager's point if anything.
LB is older, but Bill's perks weren't in the Shrine rotation from the time console released until mid-2019. BBQ's been a possible perk for nearly twice as many Shrines, naturally it has more appearances than LB.

DS was on the shrine last month.
Edit: And even before then, it never appeared in 2020, but it did appear 4 times in 2019, on average there's not thing unusual about it's appearance rate.

I started to play in October 2020, I don't own Laurie and I have DS. It was on the shrine a few weeks ago.
I couldn't have it if it was two years ago last time.

i started playing in october 2020 too. i got the halloween dlc just before ds came to the shrine and you dont want to know how mentally painful that feeling is.
btw, when i said it was in the shrine 2 years ago i meant 2 years ago before it came to the shrine

Oh, I see! Sorry, I misunderstood then. And I feel your pain. I bought a DLC for a perk and two weeks later, it was on the shrine... I just get DLC when a Survivor/Killer is cool now. 😹

If the wiki is correct, DS was in the shrine in December 2019 and returned in Febuary 2021. So it took one year and two months, not two years for DS to be back in the shrine.

If there’s a perk you really, really want then just pay for the character you want, either with shards or cells. You’ll feel better. Wait for sales if you have the patience. I paid $4 for Leatherface ages ago. Even if you’re lucky and it appears in the Shrine you might still have an aggravating wait ahead of you getting it to appear on the bloodweb of the character you want it for.

This wiki site has charts for each year, so you can lock up the shrine perks from 2019 there.
I'm pretty sure that the site is correct, I remember that DS was relativly often in the shrine at some time, because people complaint about it.

Once you get BBQ, you will kick yourself for not getting it sooner because it makes grinding so much easier. I highly recommend you buy it for $5 and not wait.
Besides, how can you not have Bubba in your killer rotation?
