Steam maintenance DC penalty
Okay, so I get that you can't tell DCs apart blah blah blah but is there really nothing that can be done about this?
Why do I get booted from my game, lose all my blood points and my offering, and then get a disconnect penalty because steam is going through maintenance?
Can you at least consider making it so that on Tuesdays if you get just one disconnect that doesn't count at all towards DC penalties, and then if it does it a second time and we get the 5 minute one we can just take a break?
Instead what we have now is you try and connect, things are fine, and you get booted again and told to wait 15 or 30 minutes now for something entirely not your fault? I just got booted, got a 5 minute penalty, got back in waited it out, things seemed fine, happened again and now I am locked out for a short while.
I would seriously rather like a 10% increase in rage quits on Tuesday, instead of punishing like 70% of innocent players overall.

I can see the losing the offering but oh a five minute disconnect penalty. Not a big inconvenience.
As for it happening again and getting a bigger penalty that's at least partially on you. You probably should have waited a bit before trying another match.

Just stop playing DBD on tuesdays nights, unfortunately DBD can't and don't want to differentiate DC's from unplugs or crashes...

More than 5, and no I did not disconnect any other way only maintenance.
Edit: I DID wait, I have no way of knowing when or if steam has resolved it's side of things. It's completely random as is it's duration and frequency. As such I don't expect it to ever be completely solved as it's somewhat unavoidable, but that does not mean the system can't be prepared for it.
Yeah I am aware but they are aware that steam does maintenance on Tuesdays, and the amount of damage that one forgiveness on tuesdays during those hours Steam usually does it; versus the damage that is done to innocent players unnecessarily is unlikely anywhere close.
One would affect some people, the other affects everyone almost always.

Steam has been doing Tuesday maintenance for how many years now? And yet people always act so surprised when it happens.

The thing is, they just don't care. When I've started playing DBD the servers were with some issues that would boot you out of the game, I've sent a lot of e-mails and reports and all I got as an answer was the bot response "we can't do anything, It must be a problem on your end".
2 patches later the problem was aknowledged, addressed and fixed, but I guess it was my connection right?
TL;DR: They don't care unless it's either hurting their pockets or their image.

That's...exactly why something can be done about it too though....
Yeah I know, I remember them treating the loading screen crashes like a myth for the longest time haha.

Yeah, like people learning not to try and play steam games that require a constant connection during the long established maintenance window.
You're punching yourself in the face and blaming BHVR for your pain.

The time changing, infrequent, sometimes multiple times sometimes not window that lasts almost the entire day.
If not playing a game for an entire day is the solution to a problem; that indicates the problem requires addressing.
Also, please refrain from personal attacks or insults, I won't do anything of the sort to you so please show the same respect.

I didn't attack you whatsoever.
Yes, steam has server issues on Tuesday. Don't play on Tuesday.
You are causing your own issues here.

So a game that is 5 years old shouldn't have to fix an issue with connectivity?
Okay the issue is with steam? Find a way around it. Perhaps give a grace period for during steams maintenance.
Or possibly, hear me out. Crazy idea, ALLOW PLAYERS TO RECONNECT.

Yes. The issue is with steam.
If you disconnect on Tuesday, does it make it so you aren't leaving your crossplay teammates abandoned?
It's a 5 minute penalty, during a time you can't play anyway because the steam servers are under maintenance. Why should you be allowed to immediately reconnect when you are likely to be booted again by steam right after? So you can abandon 2 matches full of other people? What would that solve?

Here's the thing.
Depending on role, you are screwing over 3-4 other people. Best case, you played Survivor and got booted, leaving your team a member short to take on the killer.
Worst case? You played as killer and got booted, screwing 4 people out of their offerings and add-ons because you couldn't wait until the maintenance was finished to play.
Why should that happen without consequences for the person who was disconnected? Steam has done server maintenance on the same day every week since long before this game was even conceived. You knowingly took the risk of being disconnected, those other players didn't sign up for that, but you went ahead and put them in a bad spot anyway, and you think the issue is that you got a temporary ban, at a time when you can't play anyway due to server maintenance.
The entitlement is insane.
