This game is ruined now

Almost every game there is a face camper or hard tunneling killer and it has completely ruined the game. These strategies are insanely toxic and unfun to play against and if you somehow manage to pull off a miracle and escape you get death threats and a ######### ton of toxicity sent your way by the killer since their toxic strategies didn’t work. I have always tried to see both sides of the arguments between killer and survivor mains when it comes to toxic and unfun strategies but it is at the point now where the killer mains are out of control with their toxicity and game ruining behavior. I haven’t played a normal game of dbd in over a month because killers will always do one of three things: DC, face camp, or hard tunnel. It’s not fun to play in these games and it is especially not fun to get the death threats and toxicity after the game from these people of you managed to escape. Something needs to be done because it’s getting to the point where the game is slowly being ruined.

I have definitely had weeks where literally every single killer is facecamping or tunnelling, and right now I've had a straight month of survivors just W/predropping. Only encountering extremely miserable playstyles definitely happens.

I question the "Face camping" or "Tunneling" here.. Now in my eyes, i don't like to tunnel, lest i'm forced to.

If i see the unhooker go for the unhook. course i'ma punish that. but since the unhooking is kinda bugged and not setting the hooked on the same place. i either get a double hit or i accidentally hit the unhooked.

Now of course i leave said unhooked to be slugged and go for the other person, and i hook the unhooker. if i see That person again you bet yer sweet cheeks i'ma go for that hook,

I've played hundreds of trials, likely thousands (50/50 survivor/killer). I have had one killer be toxic in the endgame chat ...ever. Just one. I get toxicity from survivors regularly. I've even got chat toxicity from a survivor I gave hatch to. #########?!?! Tunneling and camping happens for sure, but it is the most over inflated, exaggerated thing in DBD. If you're getting "face camped" and "tunneled" almost every game...well you might want to look at your own playstyle or definition of "hard face camped" and "tunneled". When playing killer if I hard face camp you it's because you were a piece of ######### and I don't care about winning anymore, I just want to ######### your trial up.

Had to check and see if this was Sluzzy, Zixology, or one of the usual trolls.

0/10 bait post. Another doomsayer thread based on a few bad games that probably weren't as bad as presented in the OP.

Do you think there is some conspiracy at BHVR giving killers faster queues? There needs to be a 4 survivor to 1 killer ratio for queues to be even. If the ratio is 5 to 1 or more, survivors will have longer queues. It just means there are more people trying to queue as survivor than there are killers to be able to give them a match right away.

It's interesting how when a post like this is made about a survivor's scummy plays and toxicity during end game chat this community is on board with the poster and ranting about how horrible survivor's are. The reality is killers are just as bad but for some reason this community ignores it and gives them a free pass because they don't play enough survivor to know any better.

    Bravo.

Just had a game where one player post unhook ran straight to my totem twice in a row post unhook. Whilst the unhooker ran the oppositie direction. Now im sure the op would say i should give up the totem and not tunnel but im not giving the free totem cleanse no if your injured or unhooked move away from the danger zones. You dont get immunity and cleanse my totem that is greedy and you know it.

From the other survivors perspective it seems like obvious tunneling but of course since your a rando survivor how would you know the reasoning when you just keep assuming every killer is some snidely whiplash villain out to ruin your fun and make you misrable. (yes were playing the killer role no the irony is not lost on me).

When i was playing survivor other red rank survivors the people who by now should know how hard dbd is for new players was harassing a rank 13 for camping. Calling him a nasty crap. Instead of offering advice or maybe just accepting that the newer player is still learning. Spme of them even said its not an excuse. But apparently going out of your way to demean someone is.

No a camping tunneling killer or t bagging survivors isn't ruining dbd its frankly disgusting post game chat filled with derogatory racist crap that really hurts people's ability to play/recommend dbd.

  • Zarathos
    Zarathos Member Posts: 1,911

Probably because post game its usually boils down to 4 people harassing the one person. Yes thick skin yes killers players can say some slimey awful ######### but that dynamic of 4 people harassing one person with the default not being to mute post game is frankly stupid.

Let me make this clear a killer camping or tunneling isn't toxic. Just as using a flashlight of t bagging isn't toxic. Posting vile crap on someones profile or dropping racial slurs and mocking others is. No killers wont get a free pas but if you think a killer tunneling or camping is out of malicious intent then your no different then the frankly foolish killers who believe t bagging and flashlights are toxic.

What is it about this game that makes people scream to the heavens above at God himself "Then let me be evil!"?

The death treats I would definitely report as that isn't normal and they need to be punished for that kind of behaviour.

As for toxic gameplay, that's an issue that is on both sides and not just killer.

Survivors are toxic af as well.

Unfortunately some had a toxic gameplay earlier and decide to play toxic in the next match because they had a bad experience in the previous match.

If that stops where people bring the toxicity from a previous match into the next match, than it will get better eventually

How is crouching repeatedly on the same level as forcing someone out of the game early?

How is clicking a flashlight a few times the same as intentionally making it so someone can't play the game?

Sure they're all allowed, but they're not close to being the same.

  • AsherFrost
    AsherFrost Member Posts: 2,340

You're right. Crouching and clicking does nothing to progress the game whatsoever, they are just used by Survivors who need more attention.

"Forcing someone out if the game early" is absolutely hilarious. There is no set minimum time you are supposed to be alive, you aren't being forced out of anything unless you're being hacked. You got killed by the killer, plain and simple. The killer won at least 4 chases against you, meaning you had 4 opportunities to escape, find a teammate and adapt, but couldn't do so. During that time you are unequivocally playing the game.

I agree with you that the killer playstyle changed... a lot. I quit playing SOLO on EU bc I just can't.. I am not gonna ruin my mental health over some freaking video game. I am by no means great, but I think I am decent. I can loop for a while, I do gens, saves... most of the time I can not even stun the killer so I do not even try, unless it is the freaking tome challenge (which I always dies for, but if I get the challenge done I do not care, and if the killer is facecamping me I can not even blame them, bc being stunned 4 times in one trial is terrible), I do not blind the killer for same reasons, coz even tho I know how and when I never do it properly and yet I still have killers not leaving the hook at all, insidious behind a corner or just facecamping... When it happens, it sucks. Does it ruin the game for me? Yes, the game is not a fun. Can I do something about it? NOPE. Unless I become OG there is a no way I can do anything about it. I will rather sacrifice myself for others to live than give the killer more points.

On the other hand survivor games changed too. Console players are the best in blending (not trying to offence anyone, it is true tho the best Blendettes I've ever found were console players). After 100 trials you know how to be efficient, so you know how to do gens, get rid of ruin and undying in the start of the game, if you utilize who does what, you do not even need SWIF and the killer mostly lose, and when they see there is only few gens left, of course they gonna tunnel, bc they want their points.

I am not saying camping and tunneling is good. Not at all, I hate it. But I also have a friend yelling "Tunneler" everytime he gets chased... and he wasn't even on hook yet... Or ppl yell at me that I am camper when I see two ppl going for the unhook and come back to hit them, or the one who unhooked is being freaking blending God and the only scratch marks I see is the unhooked person.. What am I suppose to do there? Let them go? Ofc I won't, I hit them and either feel like eating DS or leave them on the ground so someone else can pick them up, I know it sucks to be the unhooked survivor found, so I try to leave them be, but if there is no one around and after chasing or hooking someone else, the unhooked slug is still on the ground, it is not on me that they are being hooked again.

My advice is run KINDRED so other ppl can see what is going on around the hook... if the killer decides to camp, then lets hope your teammates are smart enough to do gens and not save you. You die in process yes, but everyone else escape, denying the camper their points and more importantly their pips.

This. I have seen a spike in "you tunneled/camped" if you end of hooking the same person twice in a row 45 minutes between hooks. Time exaggerated to prove the point. Also for another example last nights match I had the best rng ever I had 5 gens, the basement, and my ruin all down in one end/middle of the autohaven map. So why would I travel to the other end? Only a not so freshhhhh killer would. The survivors repaired the 2 on the other end and played right into my hand. Got called every name in the book. Why? For being smart? Optimal? The odds of getting that setup again are very slim? Most setups go against me on that map so I was happy. That is until the messages came flying in. At least I got a jake face. Also if you get 3 gens done rather quickly expect a tunnel, 1gen/endgame expect a camp, if you get unhooked an hop on a gen or do a rescue expect to be slugged or tossed back on a hook that is not tunneling.

Also don't yell tunneling if there are multiple survivors wearing the exact same outfits. You asked for it we don't individual hook counters like you.

Side Note: Sorry if I seem amped up about this subject but got attacked by a lobby of "THE MEGS" last night. Like I'm suppose to know who is who. They already got away multiple times because of that stupid hook glitch where the Sounds of pain of the ones you killed are still coming through the hook. Like ######### is that?

I'm extremely bored of playing killer normally or playing solo survivor just to get hard tunneled or camped. To balance it out, I'm playing as a friendly pig or nurse only now. Enjoy your free 4-man hatch escapes and get challenges done ezpz lemon squeezy. Gotta get those rift levels done somehow.

If four chases were happening then it's likely the killer was doing more than camping / tunneling.. so....

  • AsherFrost
    AsherFrost Member Posts: 2,340

It takes 4 chases to tunnel someone

First 2 to get them to the dying state. Then they get unhooked so that's one more to get them back to dying to rehook, rinse and repeat for the last hook state.

You could see it as 3 as well, if you count the initial as 1 chase through both health States, I don't because of the injury speed boost and weapon swing cool down, so to me it feels like 2, but that's just how I see it.

Camping isn't tunneling. Tunneling isn't camping, they have different names because they refer to different actions.

    "Both sides are equally toxic"

While I agree both sides are toxic but seeing as how there are 4 survivors for every killer. It really feels like survivor takes the biggest slice on that pie chart.

They're problems but it's not the time to be preaching about doomsday. Yes, I don't think it's getting through to people how much camping and especially tunneling work, but eventually it'll become too big to ignore.

Play killer and show the community how it should be done.

Since all of the toxicity comes from killers and there's only one in a match, you should be fine :)

Well, when you unhook my unhook and I unhook your unhook, we unhook the unhooker and it makes the unhook look like and unhooking master level unhook fest! I can't imagine unhooking an unhook when the unhooking killer unhooked an Object of Obsession when the hook was hooking an unhooking jerk of an unhook!

    Balls.

Lol are you kidding me I was face camped by a rank one bubba two nights ago rank one and he kept his rank one after face camping if you camp you should not be a red rank if you tunnel you should not be a red rank there should be extreme penalties for tunneling n camping maybe a two pip penalty keep these babies n yellow ranks were they belong if you don't get thirty thousand bp a match then why are you n red rank I don't get it

  • Dennis_van_eijk
    Dennis_van_eijk Member Posts: 1,704

If that bubba kept his pip then something went terribly wrong for the survivors and very good for bubba, and I wonder what? 🤔

A face camper, especially a bubba, will depip IF the rest of the team is smart.

And it sounds like the team you were on, were not.

Cause if that bubba had a you on the hook and the rest of the team did gens and escaped, he would most definitely depip, no doubt about it.

Cause he didn't pressure gens, got 1 maybe 2 chases and only 1 hook.

Way to short to even black pip.

I think your team was a bit over altruistic and were trying to go for a safe, which is stupid cause it works only in like 0.0001 of the times you get away after unhook against a face camping bubba.

In all that time playing i got away once with a bit smarter play than bubba and bt,which was extremely lucky.

And only got 1 unhook done against a face camping bubba, and even got out.

But in both occasions it was purely luck and bad play from the bubba

I play solo so there is no team I was shocked probably more so than you but it's something that needs addressed if your a tunneling camping red rank please depip yourself to yellow rank were I don't have to deal with you play fair without emotion your a serial killer if you get juked chase someone else instead of me because I will loop you for as long as I can and I run I run killlers that's my favorite thing to do and I challenge myself by trying to run a killer for gens my record is eight n a row last night I did 5 n one match and I enjoy being chased as long as gens are poppin I ant stopin

  • Kilmeran

And that's the thing. I don't understand the "worry about the other side's enjoyment" in a PvP game. Heck, when I'm in Overwatch, and I'm Widowmaker clicking heads, sometimes to the point that I won't let them back out of the spawn room, am I supposed to worry about their enjoyment? Or maybe that they wanted to play Roadhog or Wrecking Ball instead of being forced into Reinhardt or Sigma just to counter my sniping with a shield?

DbD is a PvP game. And if someone is choosing to play to win and using "unfun tactics" that facilitate that, them's the breaks. Yes, it absolutely sucks to be on the receiving end of it. I've been there, too. But if you can't handle that nature of the genre, well . . . PvP isn't for everyone.
