Reward killers more for only 2Kills.
I answered a thread today which made me realise something. This game rewards killers that get 4Ks (Kinda hard in red ranks) then Killers that get 2Ks (way easier). Im gonna let this photo take it away.

The post I commented that on was about the game being balanced if Killers get 2k. And if the killers would only get 4ks it wouldnt be balanced.

The pips in red ranks are kinda weird. We know the devs target 2 kills and a couple hooks in a well balanced match, yet both sides have to play quite well to pip in red ranks.
Killer almost requires 3 kills and a ton of hooks on each, tons of chases (Billy, Trapper, Micheal, Plague all get screwed by that emblem) and the worst of all, Gatekeeper, which is entirely reliant on the survivors choosing if they want to do gens or not.
Meanwhile for a survivor to do a couple gens, get an unhook and escape will just about safety pip. Sometimes if you choose to play stealthy and gen jockey whilst your team trade hooks you can DEPIP on escape. And the arguament of "just get chased/unhooked" can't really apply because you're basically told to potentially throw the game for it.

Why does it need to be balanced? Your rewards should be based upon how many kills you get

If the game wouldnt be balanced (It isnt) then only survivors would win (mostly the case). And saying that the game shouldnt be balanced is really dumb.

If 2 kills is balanced, that means 2 kills should be a safety pipping. Why would you want to be rewarded with rank points if it’s basically a draw.... do you just want everyone in rank 1?

Okay so what about all those killers out there that are red ranks or better yet rank one and can get three to four kills almost every game? Sure this game is unbalanced but people don't want the game legitimately balanced, people want the game balanced to be easier for them so they can get easy wins and easy rank ups. You wanna get rewarded more? Get better and even then you still aren't going to win every game.

Tru3 has pointed this out a few times. The game is balanced around 2 kills/2 escapes, yet its so quick to give you ENTITY DISPLEASED at red ranks for a number of hooks and 2 kills
I dont care about pips or ranks though. Ive been rank 1, got the achievement, dont feel the need to prove anything. If I go up i go up, if i go down i go down. You cna be matched with green ranks at red, and vice versa red ranks at green so what does any of it matter? I just play my rancor roulette build now and have fun rather than trying to go full meta and win

I'm hoping that after MMR launches properly we can just get rid of ranks and pips permanently. They've never made much sense.

Yeah a 2k is an average match but usually in terms of points you actually lose. It’s weird

To be honest we should just get rid of all pip/rank system. I think people are way to focused about the little number in the top right corner. The game would be way cooler without rank in my opinion.

Yea, I do think the rewards need to match the penalties, if that makes sense. People here are jumping thinking that "2 kills should = 4 kills" which is not the argument being made. 4 kills should definitely be rewarded more as you accomplished all of your goals and then some, but 2 kills shouldn't be punished the way it is.

If rank will truly mean nothing than yes. If they implement that reward system they showed than that makes it where everyone who atleast puts in the time is garunteed a monthly reward of blood points. This is of course based on the idea of the game aiming for 2 kills and 2 escapes in balancing.

I think it's already too easy to rank up as a killer. Killer doesn't need the bloodpoints either, as playing killer pretty much guarantees you to 20k+ BP, while as survivor you have to really work to get 20k+.

Yes but the current system is literally the same about the new system. I'm just saying that the pipping system should be adjusted more towards his idea when mmr is active as it will no longer matter. It will just be a good way to give more people blood points. Not that hard to follow.

Yeah with the new rank system that’s how it sounds like it’s gonna be, and that’s fine.
But the OP is talking about the current system. He says 2 kills is balanced so basically a draw, but he thinks he should rank up for drawing? Doesn’t really make sense

You can get 2k's easily by camping. Sure, it's great to reduce the amount of tryhard sweat lords in the queues, but I don't think the solution should be to encourage camping.
Rather than emphasizing kills as the mode of determining "wins," it should be more inclusive of things like chases, gen gatekeeping and hooks. These reflect skill, while kills are more like suggestions of skill which can be distorted or misrepresentative.

That whole "but red ranks have 70% kill rate when it should be 50%!" talking point has always been out of touch.
There's a logical disconnect between their statistical ideal & the actual scoring metrics used to the point that literally cannot happen. Realistically, no one averaging a 50% kill rate could actually REMAIN in the red ranks.
If you try to rebalance the game to lower red kill rates toward 2ks, that just pushes the people out who aren't getting the 70% kill rates. That leaves only the ones who can still get those 3/4ks still despite whatever nerfs/reworks/bugs are added... meaning the total red rank kill rates stay around... you guessed it... 70%. Because otherwise they wouldn't be red rank killers!
The only other variable changed? The red ranks end up even sweatier for everyone than they are already. Hooray.
Do the devs even realize that? They should at least set the pip point requirement for survivors and killers at the same amount (where a double pip at 15 instead of requiring 16, a perfect game). This game/community is already way too ######### sweaty as it is.

(Wait devs no! Don't do it! I'm only posing a hypothetical to point out that its not treated like that consistently & takes a very reductive metric of success--tossing out a complicated scoring system in favor of basically win/lose/draw--that majorly steps back from shift to emblems and promotes worse game design)
The 2 kills per match thing is the statistical average that the devs want to balance the game around, but it's not really possible to pip in red ranks at those stats.
To pip that's 13/16 emblems. With a 2K, at best you're getting a silver in devout as far as I know. That leaves a perfect score in two other categories and a gold for the other 11 emblems needed. Since malicious and devout are so heavily tied to hook-states, that's pretty much gonna require hooking everyone multiple times at least. It's hypothetically possible I think, but an incredibly unlikely scenario in a game that's so snowball heavy. Basically any game where you'd pip from only 2 kills is a game you're playing at a level that'd normally give you 2 pips if not for some minor misstep or reversal of fortune at the end like a key/bug/strategic abandonment/etc.

Well im not talking about red ranks im talking about the middle which is purple-green ranks (for killer). If the game would be balanced around 2k it should be so that 2ks only get you to purple-green ranks. Red ranks would be skilled to the point where only 3ks work. But the problem is that it cant be that balanced because its way easier for a survivor as skilled as a killer to be way up higher.
