Hard tunneling and camping is ruining this game

if memory serves, Euro Truck Simulator is actually very popular.

We had Undying Ruin, that gave killers a reason to spread damage, keep survivors away from gens, aka do everything except tunnel&camp. All for the little price of survivors doing an extra objective. But that price was apparently to high. Undying was nerfed and now survivors complain, because killers went back to tunneling and camping?

Like really?

What did you expect would happen after the nerf?!

Oh touching BBQ would flood the forum with camping complaints (and nobody knows why).

The original Undying made hex perks worthwile. Especially since most hex spawns are so exposed. Spawning next to gens or even next to survivor spawn points. Undying should have kept the Undying state until the right totem or all dull totems are cleansed. What most people forget is, that cleansing totems takes some pressure off the gens. Without it, survivors just focus on gens and ignore everything else. This needs to change.

Survivors like to complain about how unfun a short match is, when they get tunneled out. But the same goes for killers. They also don´t enjoy a short match, when all gens are completed with barely any hooks.

We need longer matches. I remember a time, when dead survivors earned 20k points and were angry. Now i see survivors escape with 11k points and being happy about it.

I must not know everyone who plays this game because I know exactly what to do if a killer is face camping or hard tunneling me. I admit it's not fun but it's not good for the killer either. Provided the other survivors make use of the time the killer is wasting. If randoms don't know what to do when the killer is face camping that's not the games fault. There are solutions to tunneling/face camping. Just because randoms aren't doing it doesn't mean it's uncounterable.

They can try to waste as much of the killers time as possible. This buys the other 3 time to do gens. If they do their job well enough that killer will get 1k. Maybe 2 if they are running NOED. They will get next to no bloodpoints and they won't even safety. Do it enough times and two things will happen.

• The killers will realize "This isn't working. Maybe I should try hitting other people?"
• or you'll rank up and you will run into these newb killers less.

That is most likely the reason he's a rank 1 survivor.

Got others who were better at survivor than he was and he could hitchhike to rank 1.

Unfortunately for him, whenever he needs to show a little skill he fails and blames the killer for that.

Because whatever happens, it is always the killers fault 😂

imo the problem is that tunneling is the best way to progress the game as killer and by a wide margin. Compare a match where first kill came at Hook 3 and a match where first kill came at Hook 9 and it's night and day, 3v1 is considerably easier to handle. But the one thing they didn't ever try was to make tunneling and face camping outright a bad strategy. You don't punish someone for playing well, if you want them to stop you need to make that kind of play no longer work.

A change I think could perhaps do the trick is: Pooled Hooks.

1. Everyone has their own personal Hook state (no struggle, able to try and get out)
2. The team has 4 shared hook states. Survivors don't go into struggle until 4 of those are out.
3. When you are first hooked, you consume your personal hookstate.
4. When you are hooked for the second time or later, you consume one of the team's hook states.
5. Every hook state before the last one does not have the "struggle" action button, but has the struggle animation regardless.
6. After your personal hook state was consumed, if you are hooked and there are no team hook states remaining you die instantly.
7. If you are hooked, whenever you'd die from moving hookstates instead it tries to get another hook state from the team bank.

Why this would instantly kill tunneling and face camping:

1. If you face camp, you will no longer do so for two minutes. You'll do it for upwards of 5 minutes (1 personal hook + 4 team hooks). That's far more than enough time to get every single gen done AND still find a way to rescue your buddy. Without the time limit, survivors also feel less of a need to be altruistic, so face campers will not be rewarded for their behavior as often (right now either they get a suicide, an early kill, or multiple kills as altruism brings people close, while two minutes is also not enough time to do all gens)
2. Tunneling loses a LOT of strategic value. As is, you tunnel to get someone out at Hook 3 rather than Hook 9 which is a lot of time. With pooled hooks, the difference between tunneling and not is always at most one hook. The first kill will come at hook 6 at the earliest, and hook 9 at the latest.

The main issues with this is that it'd pick this game that is already survivor-sided and turn that up to eleven. But since matches would be a lot more consistent (as you'd expect from a competitive game), that'd also allow for better balancing. But killers would be ridiculously underpowered if pooled hooks became a thing overnight.
