Should the Obsession be in every game?
With DS getting nerfed, tunneling may be at an all time high due to less people using the perk making it less risky to tunnel with the risk of being hit by Decisive Strike.
Adding a constant obsession may help reduce tunneling in games where no one is using DS or any other obsession related perk so that an obsession always spawns. Otherwise, these no obsession games may become common over the coming weeks resulting in a high rate of tunneling.

Just bring DS if you're worried about it. If tunneling goes up DS goes up. If tunneling goes up and you don't bring DS that's on you.

i don't want to be forced to bring certain perks just to ignore the risk of being tunneled.
I want to play my own builds, not my own-builds-but-you-have-to-have-DS

Having an obsession in every game will benefit the game tbh

I enjoy playing off-meta, because I think the meta is too cruel to killers and boring for everyone. If it ends up that I (and others) have to bring a very strong perk because of more tunneling, this punishes everyone including killers. An obsession in every game would allow for increased perk diversity because they aren't advertising an easily exploitable weakness, and I think that's really what most people want.
(There are people who think survivors should only run the 10 meta perks and each killer should only run the one 4-perk combo that dominates on the respective killer, and that this is fine and fun game design. I honestly think these people are dull, uncreative, and possibly even low on empathy or at least perspective.)

Funny you should say that, because I could say the same thing about when I play killer. Watch:
"I don't want to be forced to bring certain perks just to have a chance in high level play.
I want to play my own builds, not my own builds but I have to have pop + corrupt or pop + ruin."
It goes both ways. When you play against strong players, you have to bring the strongest perks to have a chance. And rarely can you bring in off-meta builds because if you do, you'll lose.

You have so many obsession perks... Grow the fucc up and use them or stop crying.
This is the same stuff all over again, everyone crying about old ruin undying combo and noed... while there are literally 3 anti totem perks and maps in game. Audacity of some people is just disgusting.
Mettle of man with break out, For the People or just use ds... Crybabies...

Don't know where you got "crying" from but anyways. I don't tunnel myself, but I know other killers do hence why I suggested the change.
And, for your information incase you cared and that you couldn't tell already, I'm a killer main.

I think that, if there were going to be an obsession in every match then, by default, being the obsession should do something. It shouldn't just be a decoy to obscure information the killer would otherwise have. So, if we came up with something that would happen by default when someone is the obsession, independent of whether people are running obsession perks, I could get on board with it.

@NoOneKnowsNova Your main doesn't change a thing. If survivor is afraid of being tunneled they literally have anti tunnel perks. Don't want it to happen? Use the option you are presented with.

All the people that voted "No" just want no obsession games so they can tunnel, change my mind.

Honestly, i'm torn between this.
On one side i say yes cuz it's really annoying being tunnelled to death
But on the other side without an obsession every game I can know which perks to remove from the list of "potential perks they're running"

The game should encourage fun gameplay. Tunneling people because there's no obsession is not fun.
What is the downside of adding an obsession to every match? Both sides have a tiny bit less information about each other's builds and survivors know for sure when that one survivor is in a chase. It's a very slight buff on the whole to survivor, but one that also closes the SWF / solo gap a bit and encourages healthier gameplay. Seems very worthwhile.

Yes
There is only 6 survivor Obsession perks in the game.
5 if you don't use DS.
- 1 is heavily toxic : OoO
- 3 only work in a SWF : Blood Pact, For the people and Mettle of Man
- 1 is as useful as This is not happening : Sole Survivor
So that doesn't leave much choice just to have an obsession in each game.

Yes
Don't need much time or condescendant tone either to explain ^^
- Blood Pact = effect only good in SWf because with randoms they will likely run away from you so you don't get any benefit from the Haste bonus
- For the people = requires your teamates to be left on the ground or escaping a chase to be used and then found them to heal them.
- Mom = it is so weak that it only works if you can coordonate and have someone heal you fast so you can go back and take protection hits.
Yes they cna be use in solo, but you will never get much use of it or at least not as much as in SWf when you can coordonate it.
DS now punishes survivors who used it aggressively. Still does nothing against true tunneling. A good survivor can last more than 60 sec in a chase. If they get down, their DS will be off and they won't have anything to counter the tuneling they were the subject off. And that force them to force the DS before the timer runs off.

Survivors have dozens of ways to tell what perks the killer is running, but God forbid a killer gets some info.
If you want the benefit of DS, run DS. All this crying has made me tunnel way more. Used to be I avoided it, but survivors deserve it.

All the people that voted "Yes" just want a free obsession without requering a perk, so they can bring prove thyself to repair even faster, change my mind.

Absolutely. It will encourage less tunneling which would be more healthy for the game. The threat of having DS could be just as impactful as being able to use it, so I really think this should be implemented.

A streamer suggested that DS should only create an obsession when it's successfully activated, which I think is a cool idea. That way you wouldn't be able to assume "no obsession = free pass for tunneling" .

No
This. The game literally straight up tells you "hey btw they got ruin, hey btw they got MYC, hey btw they have lullaby, hey btw they got NoED, hey btw that was Devour Hope". It requires no thought on the survivor end at all (not that it would take much, but even that is beyond my average teammate who unhooks me with no obsession and no BT right in front of the killer).
Were it up to me I would remove every perk notification on both sides, including the might as well be neon flashing "EXPOSED" sign debuff and screen effect. They got 1 hit downed, pay attention and figure out why.

I haven't tunneled before and I haven't started now, but wanting to benefit from the threat of a perk against the opposing sides most optimal strat even though the perk is not even present is very entitled imo. I'd rather rework the hook/death system to something that doesn't ask you to tunnel to do well against a competent team.
Since that's not happening afaik the least you could do is sacrifice 1 perk slot to threaten the other side's optimal strategy.

No. Bring DS. Or any other obsession perk. But seriously, why not just run DS?
