I've lost all my hope in this game...
Saw this tweet from Farmer John, and it just makes me feel very irritated with the company of BHVR. This new chapter with the new killer in the Trickster is by far the WORST to have ever been made, and once again we all just wasted our times trying to tell BHVR that Trickster was just outright god awful. They basically ignored all that feedback that was given, and basically stuck the middle finger in the air to all of our faces. We have all spent quite a bit of money on this game, but when you realize the product is getting terrible why would you bother throwing your money back at it? Because BHVR basically summoned their pot of greed cards, and said we're gonna make this killer as bad as we like it and will not care what the player base thinks. So next time guys lesson learned don't bother giving your feedback for the next killer rework, or for the new killer who comes during the anniversary. I've given BHVR so many second chances because at times I feel like they can write the wrong, but I feel like I reached the limit of second chances. You basically put out a killer on the live version, who sucks at pretty much everything and expect people to waste their money on that!? Also to the people who defend the decisions of BHVR it's time for you to open your eyes, stand up, listen well, and realize that you're being used for money. I gladly kept my expectations low for Trickster buffs, cause I knew to not put my trust in a team who still can't even give their own poster boy three traps at base to start for almost five years. Like I want to like DBD because it's such a fun unique game, but it sadly will be held back from company greed as well as boneheaded decisions. I've given the game three strikes if it were to continue to disappoint, and well it might just seem like I need to just quit this game for good. Strike one was the 2020 Budget Decrease Halloween Event, strike two was the Binding of Kin chapter, and strike three is the laziest excuse from someone who was to lazy to fix a killer that already was bad as is and ended up getting nerfed on release.. I'm just left with disappointment, but I need to do my part and just stop playing DBD. I can't keep waiting for BHVR to catch up on what balance actually means in a video game, and feel like a rock will be lifted off my back once I hit the delete on DBD. Might take a break from here on the forums as well, but will be keeping my eyes open to see what's up. I've had great times with the game, but sadly BHVR caused me to stop playing it. Wish the best of luck to the people who keep playing DBD, but I want to move onto better games as well as newer games. My voice may not matter to the devs, but I know it will matter some place else that isn't DBD. Have fun gamers!

That is a very big wall of text.
However, I agree. If we aren't going to make any big changes because the PTB playerbase is too small, then why are we using the PTB in the first place?
The Devs could easily expand it to Consoles. I'm pretty sure Sea of Thieves has a PTB, Overwatch does and so does PUBG. That's an easy way to at least double the amount of players participating in the PTB.

Yeah sorry for the great walls of text, but I just like to go on rants with things I just simply don't like. I've basically just reached the limit with this game, and feel like I don't serve a purpose of playing the game anymore. Also yeah they could put the PTB on consoles, but from what they say Sony and Microsoft will take quite a while to get back to them.
3 -
idk how many more ptb's its going to take for some people realise its not really about balancing the killer, its more about technical stuff and bugs.
3 -
Or you about how much money BHVR can make people pull out of their wallets
6 -
If they would have started the process a year ago, it wouldn't be an issue today.
1 -
The Binding of Kin showed us that that isn't true either.
11 -
Dont entirely understand this response
"not really about", this ptb also has some things rebalanced but again, its not really about that.
3 -
Oh no! So we as players are to blame for all the bugs and state of the killer. Do they expect us to spend our free time to do their job for them? I believe we were loud and clear regarding the Trickster. If you are not satisfied, hire playtesters and stop blaming community for it. BHVR seriously wake up, before it's too late.

The PTB doesn’t really bring more money for the devs though.. actually on the contrary, there are people that just test the new killer on the PTB and may decide not to buy them if they don’t like the playstyle..
the Money argument may be used for cosmetics etc. but then it’s a company and the cosmetics are completely optional...
1 -
They should really make a large disclaimer when starting the PTB that feedback is very much appreciated but won’t directly be incorporated into the very release just a few weeks after the PTB. (Should be Common Sense but.. well..)
4 -
I mean they're starting to care more about money, instead of wanting to improve upon certain things the game is still plagued by.

The PTB's main function is NOT to have patches that arrive balanced and optimal. It's about 2 things:
- Generating hype for the game, giving streamers something to do and talk about
- Minimizing game-breaking bugs (they still go through most of the time though lol)
Funny enough, it's very similar to forums like this one. Do you think they're clamoring for ideas on how to balance the game or care what enfranchised players want? If any game dev that's even close to making choices within the company reads this forum on a regular basis, I'll eat my hat. Their goals are to keep people playing/watching by releasing new content occasionally, and bring in new players. Best not rock the boat when you could risk an exodus of players

I find their excuse of limited data to be complete bs personally. Every single person, wether it was players on PTB or people who watched it via streams or YT all unanimously agreed he is far too weak. This honestly shows that BHVR relies far too heavily on numbers and statistics rather than actual humans saying outright: killer weak.

Sea of thieves has an insider program that is pretty much a ptb for select people.
I know for honour also has a ptb for consoles
0 -
I've lost any respect for BHVR waay before that
-Console Optimization that has been talked about since March 2019 and pretty much nothing happened yet.No 60 FPS.Not even fixed the FPS drops/freezes we are still dealing with
-Halloween and Winter """Event""" 2020
-Binding of Kin
-The state of Blight on console
etc.
6 -
Don't forget the Summer Event that was killed because of the battlepass.
Also the battlepass in general. It's bad.
3 -
6 Battlepasses and we can't even equip a survivor AND killer challenge.
Pretty sad tbh
And yeah, there are definetely some more questionable things they've done so far but i think people get the idea

For honor also has a console ptb, they call it the testing grounds if I remember correctly. Anyways, yeah if getting the entire community's feedback is so important to them then they should add a console ptb as well. I'm sure console players wouldn't complain. The Devs won't do that though, either due to laziness or equally as likely, the spaghetti code making things difficult to introduce again.

PTBs are only there to hype people for the next Chapter. They are basically playable teasers. You dont get any information out of PTBs, because Matchmaking is non-existent and everyone who is playing the new Killer does not really have an optimal build, because it is impossible to get enough Perks with the limited amount of BPs, even if you save as much as possible for PTBs.
The Devs said that PTBs are also an option for them to get feedback earlier so that they can start working earlier, but I doubt that. If we look at the past 3 PTBs:
- Twins-PTB with a lot of stuff which was simply forgotten. E.g. Victor being completely helpless against Lockers, this is an oversight which should not happen. The big camping potential of Twins also seems to be nothing which the Devs were aware at all.
- UI-Changes which nobody asked for, which were bad and the new UI is STILL not even close as good as the old UI. Considering that the Lead UI-Designer has years of experience, a little bit underwhelming, to say it nicely.
- And finally, Trickster-PTB. I dont think that Trickster is as bad as people claim him to be, he is not strong by any means, but he is not terrible. He will be able to perform in Red Ranks (like every Killer), but he has his limits. So far I only went against 1 good Trickster (someone I know, really good Killer player) and that person won. The others lost so far.
But yeah, PTBs are only there to hype and make players exicted for the next Chapter.

I'll be honest; I didn't read that wall of text. Please use paragraphs.
However, I have also lost a lot of faith in the devs. Everyone literally told them exactly what was wrong with Trickster FROM THE PTB! Hell all they had to do was visit these forums to find out.
Two very bad dlc in a row is not good. I have near 2000 hours in this game and I just don't feel like playing it right now.

I myself, an optimist, am slowly losing more and more hope as well. But this one was a big oof.
4 -
As a fellow console player I agree with all of this.

Reading that tweet somehow makes me mad. Like we already knew they didn't use any of the feedback from any of the fog whisperers who have thousands of hours of gameplay knowledge and understanding of the game or any other PTB participants, but to say "there was no good data from the PTB" when everyone was pretty much universal that Trickster sucked ass, well that person comes off as arrogant. Let's be real, we all know who he's talking about.
3 -
Going on a rant is one thing, knowing to use Enter key to create breathing space for the text is another...
1 -
And like usual they don't hire play testers at all, because money over game health is their priority.
1 -
How about we just don't bother with the PTB in future then
It's clear that it's a pointless endeavour purely for hype generation and for the benefit of content creators at this point
Very disheartening

I swear man, some people have access to some straight up SS+ tier dealers, because whatever they're smoking is some solid stuff. Kinda jealous to be honest.

Well with this recent chapter they've lost me completely from this game, like I just don't want to play anymore. I haven't even hopped on my PlayStation yet to delete the game, but it's something I plan on doing. Basically give up because the company of BHVR's mindset is greed, and they simply could not care as to what people think of this chapter.
2 -
Remember according to the STATISTICS, Object of Obsession is a fair perk that doesn't need any nerfs. I had to look in cringe, and feel like I had to wheeze after hearing that.
1 -
Just greed at this point by them
0 -
When they said it on stream I laughed expecting them to be joking. Still waiting on the punchline on that one...
2 -
Remember when there was a PTB for the HUD/UI changes and it was basically unanimously agreed that it wasn't great and it needed changing but it was forced on us anyway and it took weeks for it to be 'addressed'.
They can say they 'have no data' but for a game that has such an active social media presence across multiple different platforms (Twitch, Twitter, These forums, Reddit, Steam) you'd think that would be sufficient enough feedback
3 -
Yeah BHVR basically wants you to spend $500 on a new console just to get that nice and juicy 60 fps, also ignoring the console community with that promised 60 fps on PS4/Xbox One will always be something they just outright ignore. Because I don't see what's so hard of telling people they can't give us 60 fps..
0 -
I just hope people don't bother giving their feedback on the next killer, because BHVR goes by their own standards and think they know all about their game.
0 -
Everyone literally gave them LOADS of ideas as to how Trickster could be better than he currently is, but that was just all of us wasting our time because our voice at times doesn't matter to them.
0 -
Well... I mean, legacy outfits have been taken away for no reason and promised to come back and now they have stated they won't come back so... I am not a person who believes in BHVR's word.
0 -
Honestly back in December is when I pondered of quitting the game, but I once again decided to give BHVR another chance to do it right. Since it was a new year and such, but then they drop the atrocity that is the Trickster. I'm not gonna bother waiting to have faith restored by them with the Fifth Year Anniversary, quiting the game is the best option right now because seriously I given them so many chances but enough is just enough...
2 -
Friendly question to people who say that the PTB is only there to generate hype: Why is it called the Public TEST Beta then?
0 -
Add a TL;DR.
The point is that BHVR has no dedicated methods of communicating with its player base. Even fog whisperers are often wrong. There's just absolutely no way that they can really tell what the community's opinion actually is, because there's no way to assess the entire community. Something like DS was inevitable, because that was just omnipresent, but not many people actually played the PTB, and not many people complained that loudly.
0 -
Hell I think anyone who actually plays this game can balance it better with their eyes closed
0 -
They still will do it anyway for the hype basically, but once people see how bad the new killer is after it just turns quite a bit of people away.
0 -
Oh I meant as players
If it's clear that the PTB doesn't really matter, why should we spend our time on it
0 -
Just look at their Twitter they have lots of people telling them Trickster is weak, and giving them advice as to how to fix him. But no they care more about letting people know the new cosmetics are out, and spend most of their time retweeting fanart.
1 -
Trapper still starts with 1 trap.
That's all you need to know - Behavior doesn't care.
2 -
And on PTB content creators can only do KYF with their viewers because of how long it takes to find just one match as killer, so I don't see why they don't use those KYF matches as evidence to see how bad a killer can be. It's the only sort of evidence they can get, because just playing normal PTB is a lot of the times against rank 20's. Rank 20's in which the game is balanced for, and not focused towards the experienced players.
0 -
They've basically run out of ideas as to how make killers after seriously botching two chapters in a row.
0 -
I don't think it's that they've run out of ideas, I could pull 50 out of a hat, it's just that they haven't pulled out the great ones. It's all just up to RNGesus to see what the development team decides on.
0 -
The game is about to turn five months old eventually, and they keep forgetting that Trapper has to have extra trap add ons to actually be enjoyable to play.
1 -
WHAT DO YOU MEAN NOT ENOUGH DATA
FORUMS AND EVERY STREAMER I BLOODY KNOW SAID HE WAS HORRID AND NEEDED BUFFS TO BE ANY SORT OF VIABLE, OH MY ######### GOD
1 -
I imagine this came from our lead balancer himself, because I don't know who else would be talking about data.
