What was the thought process ...
... behind the Trickster? I mean, both Huntress and DS can inflict injury immediately. HS can even inflict dying with iri hatchet.
With the trickster, you have to hit 8 blades and still have to m1 the survivor if you use the photocard.
I really want to know the thought process. I can not imagine, that the devs thought, this killer would be not below average in strenght.
I would even say, he will maybe even below nurse in kill % over the whole ranking board.

Wait, you think any semblance of logic, reason, or rational thought was used when this killer was conceived? My friend, I hope you're new, because the benefit of the doubt you're giving the developers is beyond massive.

Is there no explanation on a dev stream or something? I don't need any sarcasm.

BVHR doesn't really do the whole "explaining their thought processes" kind of thing.

There was no thought process...just how to rake in money.

The thought process was that he would be easier than huntress. He doesn't have to make one clean shot, he can spread out the pain over 8 clean shots. Of course, they overdid it and made it too spread out.

There are so many obstacles to just "hide" or prevent from getting hit, the power doesn't maker much sense. You want something, that can down ppl quickly.
And the lacerate decays over time, so you can't just do it like ghost face with his stalk.

I know I'm going to sound like a broken record but the thing is... We already have The Plague.

My only assumption is with K-POP themed chapter they wanted to bring in new players, specifically people from Korea.
There is a notable stereotype that gamers from Korea are highly skilled. Seems to me they wanted the Trickster to be cool, skilled range killer that could be mastered with proper practice.
Problem is the Killer is fundamentally broken and weak.

It's a fun idea for a power, kinda like Legion. It's just not even remotely well implemented.

Also, with Adiris, her vomit actually intensifies over time until you have to drink from the fountains. With Trickster, the opposite is true. Adiris only needs a single spew to mark you into sickness for the one-hit down (over time). She's the strongest of the 2.
What Trickster DOES have going for him is the voice actor. He's brought the character a lot of depth and personality, so kudos to that! Hopefully, in future the devs will review him, but in the meantime it's probably more to try the perks than the actual killer.

Well no, the plague's niche is her snowball with corrupt purge, and the keeping survivors injured thing isn't really her main showcase. Trickster is just easier huntress but missing a lot of parts, which is really his own niche. No other killer can spread out their hits; you either hit them, or you don't. With trickster, you can build up 1/8th of a hit, but they make it too hard to get hits.

You make it sound like it's a good thing lol

Well, it is a nice concept. That's why he's ranked "easy"; you have 50 chances, and 42 of them can miss. It's just that it's too watered down to live up to its conceptual greatness.

It's probably "oh, he can spam blades, so it's easier to hit, so he should require more." The problem is that they never developed the thought process beyond this, and measured what DPS is required to deal a health state on survivors at a loop. Because of this, he doesn't even function as an easier, but slightly weaker Huntress, because you need to win 2 mind games to Huntress's 1, and that's at the most optimal of situations.
