Something is wrong about chests
I’ve been playing survivor for lots of hours since Trickster’s release and every game I’d find a purple/pink key in a chest without bringing any perk about it. I think that’s something that needs to be looked into, it never happened so consistently as far as I know. We’re talking about 20+ matches with a 100% rate of finding a key for the hatch.

I run Plunderers every game and I haven't noticed this. I've been out of work for the last week and been playing a lot and it seems the same as it always been. It's probably just rng being rng.

So i randomly found a key every single time I opened a chest without having Plunderer? You have to admit that’s odd.

I found a pink key in the very first chest of a match earlier, without plunderer's.. I haven't found any others in the few hours I've been playing.. Maybe you just got good RNG, for once. Lucky you ;)

I mean, if it's only happening recently, it isn't much of an indication of a problem. If it happens for more than lets say, three days, on a very consistent level, then we can say there is a problem.
I'm not saying you're wrong, just saying wait and see.

Was anyone else running Plunderer's? Because Chests are the same for everyone I think, except maybe if you have Pharmacy?

Pretty sure they're character based.. I've had games with friends where I forgot they had it and I got crap items, and their plunderer's + ace in the hole gave them nice items

No chest perks, I've been getting keys most games I bother searching them since the patch. Definitely seems the odds went WAY up

Survivors pulled a key out on me earlier. None of them had a key.
They really should lower the chance of finding keys without plunderers while we wait for the key rework. At least thats what they should do if they genuinely care about nerfing keys and balance (since moris are now gone). I can't see that happening though.

Key find rate was never a problem before though.. so it's most likely some kind of bug, and not intended. (at least, I don't recall something about keys in the patchnotes)

It was a problem lol they raised it a few years ago (not too long after Legion IIRC) and it's frustrating. At least with plunderers theres the excuse they used a perk slot for it.

Oh yeah definitely. I posted this on general discussions and not in the feedbacks to see if and how other people were experiencing this, someone already said it’s happening to them too. To me it looks like the spawn rate of keys went up for some reason, but surely if that’s the case we’ll see a tons of posts here soon.

Yaknow what's worst that a survivor bringing a key in the lobby?
A survivor finding a key ingame thus taking your totally by surprise.
Can someone explain to me again why keys are still a thing after mories to nuked from orbit?
How is that item, the single most unfun and unfair item in the game still a thing?

I don't know what game you're playing if survivors pull out keys that often against you without using Plunderer's.
With Plunderer's though, yeah I find keys all the time. One of the only reason I ever bring it, if I have a key challenge, I'll loot chests and use the key I find rather than bring one and have a big target on my back because of it.

Devs said keys are on the chopping block, lets wait to complain about them after they reveal the change. I do think they're taking their sweet time with it though. I hope they change it to where it only works for one survivor at the very least.

Hmmm yeah okay but before Trickster it happened once in a while. To me, at least. Today I found keys, as I said, 100% of the times, in a row, more than 20 games... honestly it doesn’t feel like it can be random;

I would have it require a small activation time.. a few seconds, or hitting one or two skillchecks in a row or something. Preventing more than one survivor to escape through hatch would be bad for many reasons. Imagine everyone in the group needing to carry their own key to make it out at the end of the game for that achievement where the full group needs to get out the hatch. Or as a plan B escape when the gates are too close to one another and someone found a key.
I honestly don't think keys are that bad as they are right now.. I play against groups with keys and maps once in a while and honestly they often try too hard to find the hatch that they end up losing because of it.

Dont you think it's a bit weird that it takes SO long for them do something about them to?
Here's what the key should be able to do : One ONE breakable wall (juste replace thos walls by doors) or open the trap AFTER it was kicked by the killer, and have it only let the user of the key get out.
It's REALLY not rocket science, at the VERY LEAST they should make them unusable and remove them from bloodwebs until they FINALLY know what to do with them.
Just because bad palyers use them badly doesnt mean they aren't "that bad".
It's a free escape that has basically zero counter, and WILL penalize you as a killer for doing kills.
It's bad all around and need to go.

Keys only affect a minority of players so they're not a priority. Moris affected the majority so they got a fast hard nerf.

I think he meant that while moris had the same consistency through all the player base, keys are almost a high mmr issue. And that would be kind of true.

I mean, if we discard very low rank where they wouldn't even know what a key is supposed to do, I've seen A LOT of low rank player literally throw the game by hidding all game long in the hope that they'll be able to use the key, and they often succeed.
And at low rank its even worst since you get either coordinated teams that will exploit the thing to the max or solos that know how to convey the very simple and clear message "I GOT THE KEY BRO!"

I do think they might've adjusted chest rarities somehow, I have seen a bit more rarer items than usual but it could just be sheer coincidence and dumb luck

Well a low rank player hiding all the game to use the key at the end isn’t the issue killer players have with keys. Those games are going to end with a 3K, and one guy that could take the hatch even without a key. Problem is when a good team rush 4 gens and you get 1K, and maybe you’re on a 3gen strat, and they just open the hatch and leave at what (for you) is mid-game. That won’t happen in low mmr.

It's not weird, it's business. They don't want to piss off their whiny customer base and lose all of the cosmetic income. People on here will say that keys aren't a problem and that not many people use them and say the same about swf, but the truth is there are more swf teams than the devs will let on and keys are more prevalent than anyone wants to admit. Once the mori nerf was implemented, I saw one or two keys in every match. If you play at night, especially on weekends, you will see swf after swf. They know it is unfair for killers but they wont do anything about it because they want that income.
And as you said, it would have been more fair to nerf or remove both, keys and moris, at the same time. But doing so would still piss off a lot of money spenders.

Ok so I played a few more games before bedtime and yeah.. I got keys in half of them (didn't get to use a single one though, either I escaped through the gate or died)

Same. Even without plunderers I've been getting a lot of pink/purple keys

Yup! I was thinking something was off. Got 2 purple medkits back to back and a pink key in my most recent game.
