Do you agree with this statement: "High MMR will ruin the game"?
Yes or no, please elaborate.

Yes everyone at a high MMR will quit as killer it will just be loss after loss unless you are a god nurse and as survivor it will be just god nurses. Some killers will more or less have a hard cap on their MMR since after that point it would be impossible to win. MMR is bad for the game imo.
3 -
Match making was never problem... Problem is game is not balanced. MMR will solve it? Maybe.
1 -
Also MMR will kill streamers, they are gonna start dropping like flies tbh.
2 -
Yes. High level dbd is boring just like most asymmetrical games like evolve or Friday the 13th
3 -
Yes, I do agree. Having to sweat constantly every game wouldn't be fun at all.
2 -
Yes, it will seem good in the beginning because killers will get less experienced survivors but in the endgame, they will be met with the sweatiest and most unfun teams. This will also increase que times to a ridiculous degree as in the case with Dowsey.
5 -
Yes
I'd prefer if the high tiers ONLY got matched with people of or near their caliber. Playing against supersweats when you're only average is unfun. However, there aren't enough people to support a highrank only queue like OW, so it would ruin the game for alot of people.
3 -
Exactly! They should've made balance changes to core game issues before implementing an MMR system. Now that they're about to implement an MMR system, it will make the problem even bigger.
0 -
I don't think it will matter, the game will likely bring in a whole range of MMR scores in order to combat queue times. If the queues are so bad right now the game can't match ranks why would it suddenly be able to match MMR scores in a decent timeframe?
I hope it does work though. The rank 1 swfs with all the meta perks facing nurse and spirit in 99% of games would prove us right. Even if that did happen though we all know the devs kneejerk reaction would be to nerf those killers for "overperforming", when in reality its to make the game more fun for swf.
1 -
Oh no i can't get my 50 win streak anymore reeee
4 -
It will only kill the game for the top players. Most of the playerbase will be fine, hell for the average player things might even be better.
5 -
High MMR will only have nurse and spirit as they are the truly the only viable killers at high level play. Either this will kill the game, or save it.
If the devs ignore the data and don't finally fix this ######### game, then it will kill the game. All the survivors in high MMR will get tired of playing against the same 2 killers over and over again and will start to quit, then the killers will quit, then it will blow up and be bad publicity.
If the devs look at the data and use it to fix the game, then it will actually save this game.

Yep. If it does what it needs to do survivor will might as well take a nap during a queue. Matchmaking will never be balanced.
1 -
I mean, they do look at the data, They look at the data and go like "Freddy is best killer in the game". Its why the game is balanced the way it is. MMR will not change too much. It will improve survivor queues as you will get teammates of equal skill-level and it will make killers have tougher matches as they will face opponent of equal/higher skill level on average assuming that the system can understand what good and bad survivor skill-level is.

No, because most players won't be at high MMR and the game can totally afford to lose those who are.
2 -
No-one wants to watch people sit there for half an hour in a lobby only to get a 5-8 minute trial that's pretty much the same as every other trial. Spawn, W and predrop, gens done, endgame for a minute that decides whether or not it's a 4k or 0k, back to the lobby.

That's kind of foolish to assume that influencers aka a major driving point for dbds success should be discounted in favour of introducing an mmr system. I can't count the amount of time I see a cool build ohtofu or monto was showing off that I wanted to personally try. Look what influencers did to amoung us or phasmophobia.
Dbd is very lucly to have the streamer community it has and if behavior makes the game awful for them this game will lose a lot of momentum. Dbd is at this stage to big to fail but it can definatly lose momentum.
There so much wrong with the idea of mmr in dbd. It too unbalanced for mmr it needs balance fixes now before mmr is introduced. Games like valorant and league mmr works because they were built to be competitve dbd is most certainly not.
1 -
No The dev's will get some real data to balance the game around instead of what we have now. r1 boosted players muddying the stats.
SWF games will stand out like a sore thumb.

No, High MMR play actually represents a tiny fraction of the playerbase and this game isn't suitable for professional play. Ergo, there's no point in balancing for it.
2 -
it will ruin it for ultra sweaty players maybe.

Lotta high rank killers gonna learn they aren't as good as they think they are
1 -
If MMR works the way it's supposed to, then no. All that will happen is that people who play to win (and are very good at it) will go up against each other. If they don't like that, they can tone it down by themselves.
1 -
I think most killers know they only win because survivors don't hold m1.
1 -
A lot of games included an MMR system and that doesn't mean they are ruined.
What DbD needs IMO and doesn't have, is something similar to a "quickplay" mode where you can't lose-gain MMR/rank.

High MMR will ruin the game for streamers. Who just want to get content for their twitch and Youtube and if they are constantly having to sweat and possibly lose all the time their content will suffer. They want potatoes to go up against.
2 -
Yes, at least for the current state of the game as a whole. Imagine an mmr system that worked and put survivors (even solo queuing ones).
You would only be able to play nurse and spirit at rank one. However, if the maps were more balance, the perks were more fair, and the killers much stronger, then the game would be in a much better position.
1 -
Will it kill the game entirely? No! There are not enough people playing in that high area of MMR to worry about them, even if they left the game, I think. DbD is, and always has been, designed around the average player, and that exact player won't easily get into an MMR rating that high.
DbD lives off variety, every match is different. One time you go against 4 potatoes, next match is your own skill level and other times you face players, who will mop the floor with you. That's fine, that's (I assume) the way we all love it, because it's unpredictable and doesn't get boring quickly.
Now what MMR could do is, it could make players derank on purpose, when they get really good, because constantly going against your own high skill level will end in one sweatfest after another. As survivor you will most likely only face Nurses and Spirits and as killer you won't win many matches anymore without hardcore sweating, because going against a team of 4 equally skilled survivors won't be a breeze.
That's why I think MMR is nice for people who want to try a new killer and learn him, but for everything else it will most likely be horrible.
1 -
It's baffling how many of you fail to grasp the concept of an mmr system
2 -
My experience with the MMR system was pretty bad. I only got nurses, spirits, two endfury twins, and an Oni. It reminded me of 2017 when red ranks was literally only Nurse and Billy.
I didn’t get around to playing killer much but from what I saw it was almost all SWFs being put against high MMR killers.
So as a solo survivor I would mainly get Nurse/Spirit spam and as a killer I would mainly get SWFs. Sounds resident sleeper.

Now you are putting things in the wrong order. To make qualitative ballance changes a working mmr is a requirement. Without it what are you balancing for? High skill killer player vs high survivor, low vs low like a with a working mmr or high vs low, low vs high and pls don't make me type everything out with mid skill. You can't balance when everyone gets matched against everyone.

It will ruin the game for people playing for ez wins against less skilled opponents. Which is fine.
