Shouldn't the basement be removed from DBD?
What is the point of the basement in the game? It feels like is an easy way to win the game without a decent gameplay. All you need to do is catch one person, get some perks like agitation, iron grasp, etc. and drag the person to the basement. Then just count on altruism of other survivors. From my perspective it's boring and unfair aspect of the game. Literally rewards the killer for camping the basement. There's no reason to keep it still in the game, since the "sabotage" is already changed.
Edited: Anyways, this is my first post on the forum. Thanks for all of your answers, I appreciate it!

Because just as survivors have strong areas of the map, killers need strong areas too.
It's part of the power dynamic between the two as the play area shrinks over the course of the game and as the chases progress with the hunter trying to push to areas they are strong at vs the hunted trying to stay in areas they're strong.

It adds a good balance of strategy and risk I think. Basements typically are found in areas of relatively high strength for survivors, so it's nice to have an element of risk (in the sense that if you go down, you give the killer increased pressure on your team compared to a normal hook).

I mean, there are plenty of "dead zones" on many maps already. If this is not enough, then idk.
2 -
Sounds harsh, but have you tried not getting downed near the basement?
If a killer is camping basement then I assume the survivors are punishing him by slamming gens?
Each map has places favorable to the survivor like e.g. cow tree, killer shack. Basement is killer's "god pallet"

As with any kind of camping, but especially basement camping, the answer is: Do gens. If you feed the camper, that's on you.
4 -
Dead zones should mainly appear once survivors waste all pallets in the area. If you get them too often without ever using pallets, that's bad RNG which should get fixed so that it can't happen.

Well, not really, you get the gens done, you leave your friend behind, escape the trial and get -1 pip. So, I don't think so.
1 -
part of your problem is worrying about said pipping system right now as there is no reward for rank 1 yet. The emblem system is a dumpster fire right now that should be ignored.
2 -
Well, I do know how to play, bcs of my experience in game, but my teammates from solo q apparently not. So, basicaly there's another thing LACK OF COMMUNICATION and MMR which can be talked through in a different topic.

Yeh, that's convincing, sounds really pretty. What harsh reality shows is... just killer running back and forth around the basement. There's a lot of risk which players have to take or for example lose a teammate. It's obvious if you play against a good killer in a solo q team.
Well, first map which comes to my minds is Rotten fields, so nope, there's literally nothing except the corn field around ofc.

Nope, two games ago Freddy with agitation and iron grasp took me from the middle map straight to the basement, I wasn't even close.

It feels like is an easy way to win the game without a decent gameplay
yes, that is indeed what it was designed to be.
basement is ment to be the place no survivor wants to end up in, as it makes escaping after an unhook that much harder.
1 -
No, my problem is what i exactly said- the basment, (just like other stuff ds (already changed) and the keys). I just wish the game become healthier. Campy playstyle isn't for sure.
1 -
My homeowner Myers earned that basement. Keep your filthy hands off!
3 -
Honestly it's just a reward for bad players. So in a result a bad player gets rank up, cs solo q survivors couldn't communicate obviously and ######### up. Next time he will face swf and will get absolutely destroyed. I've never seen a good player was camping a basement, there is no need to, it's just a waste of time.

I mean... it could be worse - could be the Suffocation Pit basement that's in the Mine. Literally strongest basement in the game right there with The Game being a very close second.
Just means that half of his perk slots are taken up for that one thing, making him considerably weaker in the chase and gen pressure. Seems like a fair trade to me.
2 -
Did you get slaughtered in the basement in your previous match?
1 -
A fair trade, ehm ye. You know there's no way to get out without any obsession in your team, also the bt doesn't work against freddy. Plus you can't really tell how good/bad are your teammates from solo q.
0 -
Doesn't really matter. I'm not mad bcs idk "oh maw gawd thish shtupid killew keepz mee in the bashement". I just dislike the lack of gameplay and ppl who ignore that or try to explain this is all good.

No pip for the killer either.
It's a boring way to play and not fun for survivors either, but my point is that if the killer wants to face camp in the basement there is nothing you can do to stop him.
Either get your gens done and get out, or give the killer an easy 4k by constantly rushing the basement.
At least if you gen rush, the camper doesn't get points either and maybe will decide to start actually playing in order to get more BP and pips.

No, that's just silly, you're new so it's cool.
If you don't like the basement, stay away from it.
0 -
As other pointed out the basement almost always spawns in a very strong area for the survivors.
This means the basement is expose to be the risk for using insanely powerful window loops/pallet loops is that if you go down at them prepare to suffer the consequences.
1 -
Then where's Bubba gonna Insidious camp if the basement gets removed?
0 -
What about maps where the survivors don't have such areas yet there is basement ? There are plenty of such maps
2 -
No, I'm definitely not new. I'm just observing how dbd is changing through years, so don't insinuate.
0 -
You're saying what is absolutely obvious. And in my opinion there's a plenty of stuff which was really harmful for dbd and those were removed. Why it is a bad idea when it comes to the basement?
0 -
Just stay away from the basement.

Basement is in a weird spot since the advent of respawning hooks.
Currently, it has the potential to be a killer's ace in the hole. If you have basement in a good spot, then you have a hook easy to defend while still protecting your gens.
Moat of the time, it's not worth it. You'll just waste time dragging someone there more than anything.
I don't think it's worth removing. It's use is circumstantial but the devs have stated repeatedly that they do *not* want to remove camping as an option and you can get someone out of basement with BT/DS (unless it's a Bubba, obviously).
1 -
damn survivors really want killers to quit this game.
Stop trying to nerf us for ######### sake
0 -
Cuz it's not really "harmful". Camping all the time isn't viable if you want to win, get BP, or pip. The vast majority of killer's will quickly learn they need to pressure the other survivors or they lose.
Your problem is with camping, and removing the basement won't solve it.
1 -
No. Because the basement is one of the few places Killers can have total control over and turn the tide against gen rushers and SWF. If that’s taken away the game will get ten times harder as Killer.
1 -
As much as I dislike getting camped down there, it should stay.
It also reminds me of those basements/deep areas in horror movies that strike fear in victims and is a challenge to get out of. Those scenes where the person who didn't get caught tries to sneak in and risk their life to save their friends are cool scenes.
1 -
Yeh, no one should have total control. When it comes to gen rushers, killers have many perks/abilities to control the map and stop the progress of the gens, but I guess you need to know some experience in game to know this. Also, if the game's being constantly changed like the killer was facing swf only, there should be an in game voice chat like in every coop game, then it makes sense.
The game should be though then only good players would get to red ranks, I find it fair.
0 -
So, you're saying you only play around the basement? I guess you need to start to learn to play then instead of tryharding to get to higher rank. No more to add here.
The rank should be hard to obtain, imo, for survivors as well. Now this is a clown fiesta. 80% of players on highest ranks are miserable af. It's literally a waste of time for good, experienced players. Horrible survivors + campy killers on rank 1. Game!!! Sth went wrong!

There are perks which allows you carry a surv much faster. Don't tell me you forgot about it.
Your advice is misguided.

It’s a survivors fault if they get downed and are able to be brought to the basement. It helps stops hook farming too and forces survivors to actually have to plan and be wise for a change instead of just rushing to the hook to save their friend. Hooks outside the basement are easy to unhook and get away safely before the killer even knows what’s what. So no, I’m afraid you’re wrong on this.
1 -
If survivors are already asking for basement to be removed let’s just go all the way now. Should weapons be removed for Killers? Should survivors be able to just kill the Killers?Should Killers just be removed in general? Let’s just turn this game into doing gens and leaving. Gen Simulator by Daylight.

Then run further and wiggle faster.

Those perks are not viable in anything outside meme builds.
