You shouldn’t be able to depip if you escape.
I know that this may sound bad on first glance because it will reward survivors for doing nothing and hiding all game then leaving out the exit gates. But I have a different reason for this.
Afk killers.
Since they made it so that you can no longer farm points off of an AFK killer, the only thing to do in games that have an afk killer is to just do the gens and depip or dc and face the penalty (unless you do depip for dc i don’t dc so i wouldn’t know someone please tell me).
Because of this, if a killer just wants to screw people’s day over they just go afk and force the survivors to depip. So if they made it so that you don’t depip if you escape, no matter how bad you did, we wouldn’t have this problem and killers wouldn’t forcefully afk.

from pure survivor influence, it should definitely be possible to depip. be more precise: you shouldnt be able to depip if the killer doesnt manage to hook or injure anyone. but there is no such relation between killer performance and survivor performance. should be something like "if you did 0/1 unhooks" and "1/3 unhooks" to count how much altruism was possible in the match. but stuff like that would need a complete emblem rework

I've always felt that you should get automatic iridescent if you don't get chased by the killer all game and actually contribute to the game by healing, repairing gens, and doing totems.

I understand the point behind it, because too many players will be useless hiding in a corner waiting for teammates to finish gens or for hatch to open. They shouldn't be rewarded for hiding. I think if you played stealthy meaning you were useful by safely unhooking, healing teammates, or completing gens you should atleast get a safety pip. If someone is just hiding for a match and only searching chest for key or cleansing totem they found while hiding they should lose a pip if they escape.
As for afk killers, if they can code it for afk killers to not receive any points they should code it so survivors are not punished and give them a safety pip.

Maybe at lower ranks this is common, but I don't see very many AFKs at red ranks. It is hella rare because most red rank killers want to pip or keep their ranks, not go against worse players.
And this isn't a solution because it rewards everyone for escaping just for escaping. You should always have to earn your escape and your points, and even if its an AFK, thats one game out of the many. You can easily regain your lost pip if you're a good player.
You're basically asking for a fix to AFK killers, which rewards even the worst players with a black pip, when they did nothing to earn it. But not taking into account the fact in a real match with a non-AFK killer, say someone doesn't help with gens, doesn't get into any chases, just hides and waits for the carry. Then escapes and...shouldn't depip?
Its the same thing in red ranks, even without AFK killers. If you gen rush and have 0 involvement/interaction with the killer, at least at rank 1/2, you're very likely to depip as a result even if you do escape.
This is a blanket solution from you that only applies to AFKs and like I said, at red ranks I don't see very many AFKs, it is pretty rare for me at least in my experience. At lower ranks, I don't know. But like I said, if you're a solid player, you'll get that pip back regardless.

Honestly we shouldnt care about pips anymore. Why would the devs change anything, when they want to replace it with the MMR? Its a time waste.

What does it matter if you depip or not upon escaping?
Ranks are being removed anyway.

Hard agree.
I personally think they should change farmblems to have a main category = escapes & sacrafices. These two would have double the importance of other 3 emblem categories meaning, you would get twice the amount of pip points for them if you succeed at them.
- Escaped, you get double of your current unbroken emblem value. Killed 3+ survivors, you get double of your current devout emblem value.
After all, as much as devs want to promote healthy gameplay (which farmblems kind of do), surviving and killing is the main point of the game as that is what each match revolves around.
Ofc, even better would be if devs had already working good MMR system with proper win conditions but that I'm kind of certain they will keep emblem system anyway (even when not used for ranking) so improving it this way would be welcomed.

Im rank 5 so not really low rank. Its not that I’m trash and can’t regain that lost pip, I usually do. Its just the fact that because there was nothing I could’ve done against that afk killer to not depip. Because I am forced to depip that match is what makes it extremely frustrating.

I know it sucks but your solution will hurt regular matches with non-afk killers as well, allowing people who do basically nothing significant, to just hide or do very little and as long as they escape, they black pip.
If there was an actual solution that only addressed AFK killer matches and didn't affect regular ones, I'd be all for it man. My main point is - people who don't deserve to black pip shouldn't, and escaping while doing nothing for your team (or very little) is just going to promote that sort of play style.
