Why do you get a matchmaking locked when u dc?
The Devs should prob fix this for people who dont really have good wifi.
dcing out of a game and then having a matchmaking locked timer is not fair
for people with bad wifi please fix this

You should just have a stable internet connection when playing with other people?
I play mostly via the PS 4 and for online games I actually have it connected with LAN cable because I don't want to rely on wifi.

Bad wi-fi is your problem. Don't make it everyone else's as well. Get an ethernet cable.

its not just me who has this problem u know

'But its still a problem on your side, and not on the devs side.
Its like writing to your car manufacturer and demand he fixes the street in front of your house, since you cant use the car there properly.

Fix your wifi please. Hopefully the dc penalty will encourage you to do it. I don't want to have a bad match because someone can't set up a stable connection.

If you know your wifi isn't good, don't play online or use cable. It's totally simple.
This is true for everyone who has a problem with it.

The system can't detect why you left, only that you did. A crash/lost connection can be caused intentional, hence why crashes/loss of internet also receive a penalty. If you want to appeal your DC ban, please go here: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000836752
But also keep in mind your connection is your responsibility. Whether it's intentional or not, if you lose connection, you still are a player missing in the round of the round had to end, because you were the killer.

Yes, I know, and people like you should not play online video games.
You need a stable Internet connection to play online games. It's just as much of a requirement as any piece of hardware. If your connection is not stable, then you do not meet the minimum requirements to play online games. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but that's the way it is. There is no serious online multiplayer game that doesn't have these penalties.
EDIT: Before I get accused of something, my boyfriend's connection can be unstable sometimes, as he's stuck with one of the worst ISPs in our country. When he and I play together with/against strangers and his connection starts acting up, he tries to finish up that round and then stops playing. This is how he deals with it, because he understands he's ruining the game for everyone else (intentionally or not), and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I don't understand how someone in this day and age can even ask that question.
Like, go disconnect in tons of other mutliplayer online games where you need teammates and that have a queue waiting time; most of the best ones are ones that will give you a penalty. It's just expected.

Get better internet. That's a you issue not the devs issue.
5 -
Fix your internet. This is a YOU issue
or, you actually dc in games intentionally, and your hiding it behind “bad wifi”. Either way, you issue

I have wifi that's not the best, never been disconnected from DBD.
My friend I SWF with has a wired PC connection. Is regularly disconnected from DBD while he remains connected to discord on the same device...
Figure that one out. I'm pretty confident it's a DBD issue more often than not.

Having bad internet is a problem that you need to fix.
The best you can do before buying a game is checking the minimal and recommanded settings needed in order to play, that you can find on the game store page.
As you can see the game ask for Broadband internet connection, which means that Wi-Fi isn't stable enough to play it.
Having a bad connection seems to only affect you at first because of the matchmaking lock, but it also punish the 4 other players that were in your game. So if you don't have a good enough connection, you shouldn't play the game until you fit in those required settings ;)

Wi-Fi can be more stable that some wired connections, its not that clear cut.
A good broadband connection, with a decent router and a short, clear path between it and the device is an almost negligible difference.
My PS5 is 2 meters directly above my router. It would take 10 meters of ethernet cable trawling though the house to make it wired.

It really isn't, especially across different floors/rooms. There are a lot of negative effects associated with trying to force an electromagnetic signal through the air (and walls) as opposed to a conductor.

I can actually, it's part of what I deal with in my day job.
Discord has a much higher tolerance for packet loss than dbd does.
That's not surprising, unless you are doing a video call with your boyfriend as he plays (which could cause bandwidth issues depending on his provider and router)
Here's a fun article on the subject, it primarily references wireless, however I can tell you from literal decades of experience that it happens the same way with wired.

All I can say is, my ping is often lower than some people with a wired connection... so...

...So you're connecting two things that aren't related. Ping is the delay between you and the server, which is, in most cases, the physical distance the signal has to travel divided by the speed of light. We're referring to the strength and stability of the connection between your device and your router.
1 -
Fix what? Your wifi? It's not the game's fault if dc occurs due to unstable internet. My only suggestion is try to use a wired connection
2 -
Wired or wireless, use what works, just if you are getting constantly dced, please, for the sake of the poor teammates who you'll end up abandoning, fix your ######### or don't play.

I kind of agree with thread starter here. if you have a constant bad connection I think it's up to you to fix it. However if it happens rarely if it does happen I think it's unfair when it's a game you have paid to play. over 100 pounds including all the dlc. it's an easy fix. other games has this. it detects if you dc'd yourself or you actually lost internett. It's not that hard to code in...
