Communication

We used to have weekly dev streams, that were a highlight and always fun to watch. Now we get one every couple of months.
We used to play with/against the devs in official dev streams. Where we could ask questions while being live.
We used to have a roadmap. Where we could see whats planned for the next months and what to expect in the future.
What happend? Why have you stopped talking to the community? What happend to all the community managers, that you presented us? All we have left are some tweets. But we have nothing to look forward to.

Simply put it, they don't want to say they'll do something only to dissapoint people when it's either delayed or not released at all.

I thought you said you weren't gonna make a habit of saying things I agree with what is this sorcery

Yeah what happened that caused the devs to limit interactions with the community? I especially liked the road map. It let us know that had a plan for the year and when they were doing things but now it just seems like they just winging it.

I don't know what happened, I don't know how, and I don't know why. All that I know is that we need more communication as soon as possible. And that is a fact.

Even when I really really miss the weekly Q&A streams from ages ago, I understand why they stopped doing them so often. They usually didn't give any important information as devs didn't have new stuff to share each week when they release patches around 1,5 months from each other and most of the questions repeated themself or were just silly.
Still, I wish if they made one official dev stream at least once per two weeks with random people from the team (I really miss Dave and Mathieu beiing a comic duo), just for fun, talking about anything related to DBD.
Overall, it boils down to them not wanting to make promises or deadlines they might not keep so they stay silent until they have something certain to share. It's a pity and I miss how it used to be.

I think they're making enough money that they don't really care now, when the whole game is busted and people are still spending 10 dollars on a outfit anyway it sends the message that were going to keep paying them what they want regardless of the quality.

They just don't care and are lazy. At least that's all we can assume!e right now.

I hope that's not the case. Because that would be sad.

So instead they disappoint us by not talking at all?
For example, the whole colorblind mode fiasco could have been avoided by talking to us. If we'd have know that it's planned, no one would have complained.

But didn't one of the devs say it wasn't something they cared about and that caused an uproar? It's stuff like that too that makes devs become a bit more shy. Generally the more aggressively critical a community is (and hey, sometimes I think it's warranted), the quieter the devs get.

I think they could do some of those thing again. The roadmap could at least happen and say things like "This could subject to change". If they feel like they can't promise it. The roadmap would give us an idea what could come next. And if it does change then they could make a roadmap every 3 months that reflects the change. If there is no problem then no extra roadmap is needed.

Covid 19 and Work From Home happened.

I think, people wouldn't be so fixated on what the devs say in their free time, if there was more communication in general.
People wouldn't bombard personal streams with questions, if we had regular q&a streams.

They showed that they can hold dev streams from home.
Also the roadmap stopped long before covid.

They showed that they can. That doesn’t mean they can do it to the same degree, volume, and frequency.
Every business is dealing with a large array of set backs because of this pandemic, slowing down a lot of processes, or reducing the priority of certain aspects of their business.
Give ‘em some slack.

The last weekly dev stream was in march 2019. Around the release of the Plague. One year before covid. So again, its not covid and the change it brought.

Yet global mailing companies tend to work fine but a company in Canada cant?

Too true. All of this stuff predates covid including the terrible quality control. It blows my mind people still actually try to take advantage of covid to excuse everything.
