Interview Series episode 3: Yords
After two smash hits with the interviews of dspaceman20 and GoodBoyKaru with good views and reviews the series will continue with @Yords. I've continued to learn and once more this will be a little different. Thank you Yords for accepting this. Let's begin.
1. How'd you discover the game?
2. How'd you come up with the name Yords?
Comments
-
I am honestly a little unsure how I discovered this game. I remember my earliest memories of it was watching markiplier and jackspeciteye play it together. Then I had a friend of mine tell me that I should get it. I am also a little embarrassed to say that Ochido (I don't watch him anymore) helped me get into this game as well along with other content creators such as Monto, one mr scott Jund, and especially Noob3. I started to play it in early 2017 and I have been hooked ever since.
I didn't come up with the name myself, it has just always been my silly little nickname. Since I first started my gaming life at the very young age of 3 (I think) or 4, that has always been my name. I have never changed that name on steam, and have only ever chosen other names when playing online flash games such as Bonk.io.

Sorry if this is the wrong place say this but I’d be up for doing this at some point
5 -
Don't worry your time will come.
7 -
Last guy also mentioned Jacksepticeye
3. Which side do you main?
4. Of that side which character do you main?
3 -
I don't main either side, I play both very equally.
When playing survivor, I main Claudette. I main her because she is just invisible sometimes, it is hilarious to crouch in a corner and not have the killer find you. I sometimes play Kate though since she along with my Feng are the only other characters I have unlocked cosmetics for. Although I only play Feng for dailys and every once in a while I play Kate for her cosmetic (some sort of sweater with a backpack) and... "realistic properties". I play any survivor that I need to complete a daily for, otherwise I just play Claudette.
When playing killer, I don't really think I main any of them either, I like to play all killers. Although I will say that I have not been playing as much Billy as I would like to. I would love to play more Billy, but I have a really hard time trying to get the simple chainsaw hits up close. If there are killers I play more often than others, that would only include Oni, Pyramid head, and lately Blight. They are just really fun and beefy killers that you can't exactly bully so easily. I switch off of these killers every now and then with Plague, Huntress, and any other killer really.

5. Favorite survivor to play with and against?
6. Least favorite survivor to play with and against?
7. Favorite killer to play against?
8. Least favorite killer to play against?
3 -
I'm hyped for more of these. This series is very interesting and it's fun being able to talk about the state of the game with others. Can't wait to see what Yords has to say.
4 -
I always wanted to hear his opinion on things this is nice.
4 -
My favorite survivor to play with is any survivor who is decent enough while being chased, but more over their decision making. Their overall efficiency is what I love to see, but don't see often unfortunately. That is why I like writing posts encouraging people to use kindred, or tell them about underrated perks or tips for solo queue, so they can coordinate plays.
My favorite survivor to play against is any survivor who is good at a chase and is silly to an extent. What I mean by "silly to an extent" is that they are silly for only a short moment (5-10 seconds). For example, if I am playing killer and I know for sure a survivor is in a locker because I saw them get in it, I walk up in front of the locker and just look around for a second. Look to the left, then right, and then slowly look towards the locker and slowly inch towards it. Usually the survivor gets out and then just looks up at me, begging for mercy. What I don't like is how the game is just completely turned friendly (most of the time) since it is very boring.
My favorite killer to play against? Oni for sure, I love playing him and against him. His power is very much about reads and very quick reactions constantly when he is in blood fury. It is also just awesome seeing a bloodthirsty samurai ogre running around, just very cool to look at.
My least favorite killer to play against would be Spirit. I used to hate deathslinger more, but then I eventually just stopped caring. I hate playing against spirit because she is just very unfun to play against and any good spirit will dominate the survivor team quite easily.

Very few enjoy Spirit
9. Favorite map/realm?
10. Favorite Chapter?
11. What's your dream chapter?
2 -
Ohhh another interview, can't wait to see what Yords has to say.
Just like Phasmamain, sorry if this sounds out of place, but I'd also be down to do one of these at some point.
2 -
Still waiting for mine, thene agian I'd be a waste of time
2 -
No not that there's just a lot of people who want to be interviewed.
2 -
lets just say one more ######### up then I'm gone, yeah its that kinda feeling

My favorite map would have to be coal tower as both killer and survivor. It is usually a pretty balanced map that is nice and small.
My favorite chapter was the cursed legacy chapter. It brought us the Oni and had several other good changes like the nerf to BL. It was probably the only chapter we got that actually gave us the content we pay for lol.
My dream chapter would be one where it is not a new killer or survivor, but rather new mechanics and changes for the overall health of the game. People say that it would not benefit BHVR because they would get little money from it, but I disagree. If Dead by daylight became even more balanced, then people would come back to it and even attract more newer players.
We want good quality content, but unfortunately the only good content we have received for several months (since blights release) are the colorblind mode, blight fixed POV, and Wraith changes. Everyone is getting a little antsy because they are bored.
Everyone is pretty bored of this game right now, still putting up with the same things since the beginning such as map design, bhvr's clear lack of communication, and balance (killers, perks, and maps). We prefer quality over quantity, which is not something we have been getting for a long time now. It is frustrating to know that bhvr could easily start pushing out content, but they are too scared to do so and would rather add jiggle physics to certain individuals, or fix the "lazy tech" glitch for survivors instead of fixing important ones (survivors making no sound, and sound just being very inconsistent and weird).

I hope this series continues as getting to know people opinion and view of the game and would encourage people to have friendly discussion and voicing their view of the game.
5 -
12. Least favorite Map/Realm?
13. What keeps you playing DBD?
0 -
My least favorite map or realm is haddonfield. It is a literal hell for killers who aren't nurse or spirit.
The fun of it, this game is a drug and I play for the satisfaction of a good game where I perform really well. The bad things don't really stop me from playing it somehow.
3 -
Let's move on to more complex questions first one will be a mix with simple.
14. What's your gaming platform? And how has your experience with that platform shown which platform seems to be the main attention and care of the devs?
15. Recently the long time meta Decisive Strike was changed. It was celebrated by most the time of it being abused was gone. But many have said because of this tunneling has became a issue. And others are proposing a second DS change. And has brought to light many say the issue of tunneling. Do you believe tunneling is a legitimate but fair strategy? And how should the devs go about this? Buffing other anti-tunnel perks? Make DS happen twice? Another idea of a built in game anti tunnel?

I play on PC. My experience with it has been good, and I think that the devs take care of the PC platform much better than any other one such as console. I say this because they still haven't fixed Blight's turning while swinging in a lethal rush, it would be an easy fix and I don't understand how they messed it up. Even then, I don't think that the devs take care of any platform as good as they should. I mean, optimization in this game is horrible especially on the graphically reworked maps.
2 -
I can say the same. I am loving this series!
4 -
Up above question about DS and tunneling added
1 -
Nice to see another one!
2 -
I think there were over 10 in the original thread alone? (granted I stopped checking it after the first interview came out, so could be way more that I just missed)
I remember thinking I was one of the first to agree, then I checked and was like... 5th? 6th? not sure.
either way, this is a fun series. it can go the distance

Tunneling is definitely a fair strategy for killers, same as camping. As for what the devs should do, here's what I have to say:
I honestly believe that strategies such as tunneling, camping, and slugging can never truly be fixed without redesigning how the game works in a massive way. However, I do believe that the devs can rework the game to encourage other playstyles that are more fun, for example if they changed something (I really don't know what specifically) to make 12 hooking survivors a viable strategy, then you would probably only see those strategies used by people who want to meme or just make people upset. Something like that would alleviate the three.
I disagree with making more anti-tunnel perks, that is just another band-aid fix for an issue with this game. It would be best not to make the mistake the devs did when they originally implemented DS and BT. I think the best way to fix this issue is to do what I said above, encourage other playstyles that are more fun for everyone.

You can interview me if you like, I'm certainly less interesting than everyone else in this chat but that's just what makes me special :)
2 -
If you want to interview me I am up to the task. I think I have quite some experience in the game.

YORDSSSSSSSSSSSS

16. With the map changes it seems there's been endless complaints on both sides. killers say breakable walls and stealth. While survivors say totem spawns and deadzones. And the next map.in line is Coldwind Farm. Do you believe the map changes have favored one side more? And what do you expect or hope for the Coldwind change?
2 -
These interviews are getting better and better as you go on, how many do you plan on doing may I ask?
4 -
As long as I have time
3 -
Well I hope you have a lot of time then in the future, can't wait for more.
2 -
The map changes have not benefited either side actually. It is important to remember that the map changes are all about the graphics, not balance. They are definitely still survivor sided if anything though, the randomness can sometimes spawn some very nasty tiles on any map. For the coldwind change, I just expect better optimization. The graphics are cool and all, but what is the point if you sacrifice most of the players' framerates?
1 -
hello, emperor penguin was it?
2 -
17. With the map changes have come breakable walls some have all the issues and some don't mind them but they're only truly interactive with the killer deciding to break them or not. There's been an idea to bring a hammer or mallet to break or rebuild them from the survivor side to make them more interactive. In a past comment you said an item like that would be OP on Dead Dawg Saloon. Are you opposed to an item like that? Or that an item like that would be more dynamic on some maps then others?
Post edited by WishIcouldmain on1 -
Currently, breakable walls are merely pre dropped pallets. This means that the killer has to spend their already precious time to get rid of them. The idea of a hammer breaking them is not a very good idea because it would create an infinite on the dead dawg saloon specifically. Against good survivors you can end up wasting loads of time breaking them.
Then there is "The Game" map and the breakable walls on it. Definitely a pain in the rear to deal with sometimes, for both sides.
What I think breakable walls could be changed to are something that survivors could actually spend their time to build, and then the killer would have to break them. It would be more balanced because a survivor has to spend their time building one. It could be one of the new mechanics we have been wanting for a while now. Of course, the devs will have to rework them a little bit to be fair, but having a new layer of strategy would be great. I forgot where this idea came from though, I think it was scott jund's, but still. This idea would be a great addition if done right.

18. Was gonna plan something else but we're gonna go to the announcement of upcoming changes. First question reaction to the Freddy, Demo, Huntress and Twins changes?
1 -
That's ominous @Phasmamain you better watch out
2 -
Welp see you in the entities realm boys!
3 -
I actually was just about to post an in-depth thread about this upcoming patch. But my overall impression of all these changes was that they were good except for Freddy's with a few other questionable changes, and you can find everything else I say in the post here in just a second.
It has already been posted, this is just in case anyone doesn't see it.
1 -
You know what, I'm just gonna come out and say it....
You should interview Sluzzy. I'd watch the hell out of that
3 -
Tried
3 -
Keep trying. We MUST know what goes on in his head!!!
1 -
Okay might come back to it.
19. Trickster has upcoming buffs he was lauded as the worst killer of the game and many ideas were stayed to improve him. But they didn't do it on release once more showing the devs lack of communication with the community. Do you believe the buffs will no longer make him the worst? And should the devs make it top priority to listen and communicate with the community better?
0 -
Can't force anyone to do it.
0 -
The buffs will definitely help, but I am pretty sure that he will still suck. He needs a rework or a few changes to make his power more lethal.
I agree with making clear communication with the community a thing. Just simple communication would help everyone out.
0 -
I find it ironic that I just asked Sluzzy a few minutes ago if he'd be down to do an interview.
Honestly I doubt he'll respond, but you miss every shot you don't take.

20. Do you believe the devs should look into giving the last three killer their own map?
21. Do you believe going back to new killer changes Freddy should get a rework instead?
0 -
Would be the viewed post ever. If anyone can get it to happen. I would love to do it.
1 -
Yes, I do. Blight, the Twins, and especially the Trickster really need to get their own map. We haven't had a huge amount of content come into the game since the silent hill chapter where we received a full chapter. Giving us a new map for the killers who don't have one is definitely what is needed and players would love to see new maps.
Freddy is a bit weird. He sort of needs a rework again, but he doesn't. I think he needs changes to make him more skillful and even more deadly in the dream world. Having his skill rely in keeping survivors asleep would make him less boring and more fun while still keeping him strong.
