So when I see someone else in danger of going down and they're basically being tunneled, I tend to go in and try to take a hit for them / get the killer onto me so that they can escape and have time to recover especially if I haven't been hooked at all or maybe just once.

The problem is that sometimes I end up going down since I'm not the best looper. Other times I'm able to run the killer and make them give up and leave me but by that point my goal is completed since I saved the person getting tunneled.

I guess what I'm trying to ask is, is this a good idea especially if I end up going down after only a couple seconds of looping the killer (But the person I was trying to save still gets away)?

Spreading hooks between multiple people is better than someone going to second hook very fast, so id say if you feel like its worth it, than it probably is.

It can be worth it. Sometimes the tunneled survivor knows what hes doing and would loop the killer far longer, but you never know in solo que. So taking the down for him is the safest way.

If all of your teammates are hanged once or twice it is better to take the responsibility of the keep busy the killer. Because you are the healthy one and you are far more away to death than your friends and it is a valid strategy for survivors. However you must calculate the timing of that and make sure that you are not hooked during dire situations so that the killer would not use you as bait to get others.

I hate situations mid game where one or two people are on death hook and the rest of the survivors haven't been hooked yet. Getting the first survivor out of the game is a huge move in the killer's favor so IMO any survivor who has a hook state to spare should try to take a hit and distract the killer. Even if you end up going down fairly quickly, saving one survivor from being killed can completely turn the game around (or prevent the killer from turning the game around).

Sometimes you'll end up slugged and the killer will continue to tunnel that survivor anyway, so it doesn't always work. But in many/most situations I think it's best to try.
