I'm glad they are adding totem counter but...
Why in a world it has to be a perk? Just imagine, you are solo player, that want to know if there any totems left to probably prevent noed, but you have to waste 1 of 4 perk slots, while if you are playing swf (not even 4 people, 2 or 3 people can already count it) you are just doesn't need to use this perk, and swf could have from 8 to 16 perk slots.
Devs pls, add totem counter as BASE mechanic, for solo survivors

Why not add value to an underused perk? Small game has always been awesome.
Drop one of your second chances and equip it sometime.

If noed is a frequent perk in your games then surely dedicating a perk to remove it should be worth it?

Seeing as SWF get the totem counter for free, why should solo players have to sacrifice a whole perk slot for the information?

You act as if your average SWF is a sweat squad. This isn't the case. Hell, your average SWF doesn't even do bones. Just like solos.

Yes, in my 6k hours in DBD that I've played since the game was in beta, "I don't play solo queue".
Deflate your head, kiddo. I've got far my experience in every aspect on this game, solo queue included, than you likely do.

6k hours and you still think a token counter being base kit is too much. Maybe I need to "deflate" my head, but yours isnt looking much better.

True as that may be, when trying to prevent NOED from popping, SWF can simply ask their teammates "how many totems has everyone cleansed" and they'll be able to figure out how many totems are left, no perk needed. That isn't the case for solos, this change does nothing to bridge the gap between solo and SWF, something that the devs promised to do ages ago.

Bruh new object will kill distortion tbh They should buff distortion by starting with 3 tokens and 5 at max and you'll regain the tokens by escaping a chase

Both of those LITERALLY show you totem auras and allow you to see if there are any left.
This notion that "OMG I CAN'T COUNT TO 5 I DONT KNOW IF TOTEMS R EXIST ANYMORRREEEE" is just whiny survivor nonsense. There are MULTIPLE things in the game that facilitate doing bones. The two I mentioned tell you where they are exactly.

Every time I see you post on these forums, all you want to do is argue and insult people. Why? Even your argument here makes no sense, so I'll spell it out for you.
SWF can tell each other exactly how many totems they've done, without perks or items.
Therefore, SWF can tell each other how many totems are left in the match.
Solos, need to equip a perk or item in order to access this information, so they trade a whole perk slot or item slot in exchange for the information that SWF don't need to forfeit a perk or item slot for, therefore risking their total survivability.
You seem completely comfortable telling others to "deflate their head" but have you ever considered doing it yourself?

BHVR likes to take small steps. If hex perks are that much of an issue for you, then the one perk slot is worth it. You can find and destroy Ruin/Devour with it, and you have peace of mind when you know there's 0 bones left during the end game.

You're assuming a solo will know when and where another survivor has cleansed a totem. It's not about counting, it's about lack of information available compared to swf.

I tried going without slowdowns. Instead I used infectious, to create pressure with slugging. It was actually a resounding success, but alas, survivors whined about that too.

Im so tired of them adding mechanics that should be basegame to perks. This was such an easy way to buff solo survivors, and do nothing for SWF. But ofc they just slap it onto a perk. I cant even remember the last time they did something to make solo queue even a tiny bit more fun

I get your argument OP, but I still disagree. I don’t think the game/Devs need to spoon feed us every tiny little detail that is happening in game. I think part of the fun in using different builds is enhancing a particular skill in game and making our survivor unique to that scenario.
I also play Solo and I felt frustrated not knowing how many totems were left, so I used my perk (Detective Hunch) as part of my build and took it upon myself to do gens and clear totems.
My point is, I can be good at healing with heal perks, good at saving with certain perks, good at looping, or even good at hunting totems/chests...with certain perks. You can choose to be the best at something or dabble ina lil of everything but you cant be omnipotent and do everything.
Your big issue seems to be the difference in SWF and Solo experience. You want to bridge the gap. You think SoloQ deserve all the same information available to you that could be provided by 4 individuals playing together...
You get why that’s crazy right. You might as well highlight the Killer, at all times, highlight any and every totem a survivor ran by, highlight every unused pallet...
SWF are much too powerful and the only saving grace this game has is that most ppl play casually and they do not seriously try hard. If survivors felt like actually trying and using their cheats and dozen extra perks, just by opening their eyes and mouth, then every Killer game would be a bust. To suggest we bridge the gap is dumb to me.
Better off trying to separate SWF or adding restrictions to it, because buffing SoloQ to SWF levels of Over Powered BS isn’t going to keep the Killers around.

Is it really that hard to understand that when people ask for solos to be buffed to SWF level, they aren't saying that killers shouldn't be buffed to compensate?

is it really hard to understand that the strength SWF has (used at full potential) is much stronger then you seem to grasp BUT people play this game CASUALLY, with no separation from casual/ranked play, and to realistically buff Killers to a level they could defend against a SWF group of try hards would be grossly overpowered compared to the average SWF group just talking sh— while they play tag over the internet...

No, I agree, but in this case it makes sense. 90% of killers use perks that are annoying to deal with as a survivor with the same reason for the other side. I rarely use meta perks at all. So from my perspective, it's not whataboutism, its a double standard.

Not really, whataboutism is people complaining about Freddy's nerf because gens have not been touched. This is me addressing a claim that "just dont use meta perks 5head" when most killers pretty much run meta perks.

Unrelated to most of the discussion here, but as someone who plays SWF with pals who don't know where totem spawns and don't make totems a priority when we're all trying to do different things, I appreciate the idea behind the change aha

Devs are still terrified to add things as a base mechanic for both sides, they just HAVE to be perks or it would be too strong in their eyes.
Totem counter? Small Game and Thrill
An actual FOV that doesn't induce headaches? Shadowborn
Brighter and better looking scratchmarks and blood? Predator and bloodhound
An actual substantial amount of bloodpoints per game? BBQ + WGLF
So infuriating man.
