So...What do killers really want from survivors.

So, i've been doin a lot more survivor lately (Mainly to play with my fiancé) and just had this in a game. Guy won, pretty decent demo, but then instead of GG immediately goes with this. Firstly, did SOME chases (Mainly just looped around a car etc till down, chase was maybe a minute or so... Guy tunneled the poor rank 5 off hook almost every single time.

So I keep seeing posts "Looping is so boring" "Looping takes no skills" etc etc. So what is it OTHER killers really want? You want chases but the only way to really chase is looping. You dont want "Hiding" (The only time there was any hiding was after 2 people were dead, me and the feng hid in the basement real quick to avoid him and heal to full.) Just curious. I have no problem with people hiding when i'm killer. People do it all the time. (I run whispers though so...yeah lol)

There really is no winning with this community it feels. (If people aint calling me a "Furry" Because I have a Poochyena picture as my profile picture on the forums it's something obscure) just take the GG and move on =w=

    I want bloodpoints personally.

Killer is basically just a grind for my Survivors points.

    I want them to die.

Failing that, I want them to hide and hide well. Make me look for you. If I see you, you shouldn't have a chance at surviving if this game was designed correctly.

I want survivors to not cheat. That is to say, I want them to not use external tools to gain the ability to communicate with their allies *when this is not in the game for a reason.*

I was perplexed by this too. He said "Too boring" and "Hiding all game" if that was the case wouldn't he have gotten less points because of that? In order to get a lot of people you really have to be in chases and win every one of them etc. Gen guard, all sorts of stuff. Lot of variables.

I do not mind if Survivor hide all the time and not do any gens; because they are being useless and immersive scared cat baby Survivors! I would love it if the Devs incorporate a "Hide And Seek" game mode; that involves no gen repair and focus entirely on hiding or chases, for a certain time limit! No exit gates are available; yet multiple hatch spawns are available! Less hooks for killers to do, like 2 hooks per Survivor; while Survivor would have to play immersive for like 10 minutes; and run perk builds to help with stealth or chase!

But since; such proposal gamemode doesn't exist; the biggest issue that Killer's have with Survivors in high ranks; is their objective time is not on par with Survivor's objective time! More specifically, 4 Survivor work on only 5 out of 7 gens across the map; and then open the 2 exit gates or be toxic by bring a key! They expect us to not slug or tunnel, but it not easy chasing very good Survivor mains at solid loops/map tiles, pressure every Survivor at once, and keep them from Genrushing or finding the hatch; before we can chase, down, and hook all 4 Survivors 3 times (12 hooks)!

Keep in mind, the Killer's worse mistake is wasting time on a Survivor they cannot catch easy/ much better to target the weak; in Genrushing Simulator 2021! (TRUST ME, I have many scenarios in which by the time I enter my first chase, and I able to manage to take them down, by a minute; 2 to 3 gens have already been completed in the background)

Completely reasonable. For whatever reason, even if they win a "Decent game" against me, once those gates are open, i just tend to stay far away from them and throw hatchets at random objects to practice aiming because most of the time they do end up teabagging. I can SOMETIMES understand why some people doing it from recently playing the other side, but at the same time, if i did nothing wrong, I see no reason why they feel the need to do it every single game. Still, i think the worst are the people who "GGeZ" Like....freaking why....

People from both sides have different expectations from one side, anything that difference from that is considered boring, toxic, salty or whatever.

I got for example face camped to dead on my first hook because he found what I did toxic.

What I did can be considered as annoying but not toxic, at least I don't find it toxic when it happens to me.

All I did was finish the first gen right in his face.

Was working with someone else on a gen and got it at about 98% when he tried to interrupt us.

We both took a hit and finished the gen and ran away.

When he finally got me i got facecamped because of that play.

So yeah some people have very low standards when it comes to what is considered toxic, boring, salty, etc.

Not much you can do about it unfortunately.

They want all survivors to spawn in the map already on a hook.

Stealth is kind of annoying in DbD because... Well, you're getting outplayed by someone putting in almost no effort and you as the killer have no right answer to the situation. Same as the good old ultra safe/slam gens meta. But it doesn't really become problematic until people are holding the game hostage by not even trying to complete their objectives, same as when a killer takes defending a 3-gen to the extreme.

Personally, when I'm in that situation where you can't reasonably do the gens, I usually just save my teammate, heal them, point them to the hatch if I know where it is, then shake my booty for the killer and try and loop them for a bit.

They want gens to take longer while making the map layout fair and make camping hard or pointless to do.

The only way to mess with camping is to make each hook like ppheads cages. You hook them and the entity takes them somewhere else.

Gens are too fast. Do the math and make it equal or at least closer to getting 12 hooks. Reduce map size or create large areas of nothing on the big ones.

I would advise against referring to Killers (or Survivors) as if they are some kind of actual grouping. Most people play both, and the kind of people you are talking about aren't representative of Killers; they are just bad sports. I play Killer (and Survivor) and the only things I want from you are:

    1. Don't cheat, either by hack or lag spike.
    2. Don't quit; if you start a game, finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory, and gracious in defeat.

Other than that, I want your A-Game. I want you to play as you see fit and do your best to beat me. I, in return, am going to try and put you on that hook and make sure neither you nor your peers get out alive. I suspect there are a lot more people like me than there are the bad sports. Whining, annoying players who blame others for their personal failures are just more vocal and thus visible than people who behave like adults. I can't speak for all Players who take on the role of Killer, but I just want you to play hard and get whatever fun out of it you can. I'm going to do likewise, and not hold anything you do (which doesn't violate the three things I list above) against you.

Hiding all game is annoying because:

    A. It will take a long time for the killer to find you. Most maps are large and if you run a bunch of stealth perks and spine chill, then you can fairly easily avoid the killer and basically take the game hostage. Not fun for killer.

    B. If you just hide while your team has to do gens, it messes up your teammates, and falls under problem A. Also, it annoys most killers when you get an escape you didn't deserve due to hiding all game.

If you ran a tile for more than 3-4 times then you're doing it wrong.

For me the fun is in the chase not looking for 4 blendettes on yomako. Also how fun the chase is depends on who im playing really and what the map is. For instance no matter who i play the game is a unfun experience. God pallet after god pallet after god pallet. Who finds that fun? Its boring for both killer and survivor. I like the loops where i can hide my red stain moonwalk hit outsmart the survivor. Loops should be about mindgames not just holding w to safe pallet after safe pallet. To bad those are far between.

You can't Tunnel because is a noob strategy and is toxic and Unfun.

You can't patrol hooks because you are a dirty camper

You can't do a 3 gen because is toxic and taking hostage Game.

You can't use strong Killers like Spirit because you are a noob carried by her abusive kit.

You can't run Basement builds because that is not funny for survivors.

You can't run NOED because is a Noob perk that rewards killer for being bad (Uh, like DS, UB, DH or Adrenaline)

You can't AFK if we drop Haddonfield offering, because we want to abuse the map's bad desing and Tbag you at Gates.

Oh I can assure you that hunting 4 blendettes on yomako is really fun, especially when all 4 bring purple mist 😬

None of them were save for my all seeing wraith, and loads of salty messages were coming my way 🤣

Depends on the killer, but the serious answer for me myself is don't play immersed. Seriously. It's actually boring because it turns the game into a walking simulator. Looping strong structures is A-ok. I mean, that's expected. I really don't see people complaining about looping so IDK. I hate it when someone unhooks a survivor, and then hides, leaving only the person that was on hook out in the open. It's like, come on. You've left the A-hole choice as my only option, especially if I have no info where the rest of your team is. One thing I find annoying, but is more so a balance issue rather than survivor behavior is how survivors holding M1 at the right gens has more impact on matches than chases. Like, you'd think the game would be balanced around a degree of time efficiency on how well survivors can loop the killer, but it's really not.

How about go start a different thread to ask what survivors want rather than clogging this one up?

I want survivors to play the game as designed without crying every time they lose.

Most survivors would be happier playing Mechanic Simulator if it had a mini-game where you bully someone. DBD is about a STRUGGLE to survive, survivors hate struggles, they want to press E to survive.

You'll get hate no matter which side you're from. I'm pretty indifferent in-game compared to the forums. I try to strive for the fun aspect without it being the top focus because at the end of the day, you WANT to WIN. I don't like ultra-immersed people who drag my game on when they're losing (doesn't apply to everyone because hiding is fine but when they do it because they know they can't win and do it to be #########, well, there you go), but I also don't like Killers' who play Spirit, Gunslinger and PH who either butt ride you to a free hit when you can't do anything (holding their power button until you throw the pallet for a free hit or stop and get a free m1 because then you're too far from the pallet to throw it down or Spirit because she has no tells and just gets free hits when you're injured) or a Spirit who nods at you like they're the best after they down you with their power as if they did a great job and need to feel superior with a broken killer using Stridor. It can go both ways.

With you, it seems like the person was just mad that the person couldn't find you as easily. I can't really tell if you just hid all game but due to your points, I doubt that was the case. Don't let it get to you and move on. If its the other side, again, move on. People play to win and this game brings out of the super competitiveness of people. Some have severe entitlement and needs to chill. Trust me, I've met people that need it. You did fine. Loops are pretty much mandatory in this game to survive. You hide in a bush while hurt without Iron Will and ANYONE will find you. You got this. You must have just got under his skin by outplaying him as survivor and that does happen. Let it roll and keep doing what you're doing.

Today there was two injured guys just right in front of me, i downed one and other one was running straight, i downed him too and hook both of them at the start of the match, and i got 4k with 3 times hooking the each one. I got 32k bps with Merciless ofc, and one of those guys called me slugger. If you are complaining about what Killers want from survivors, i guess you never played as a Killer, because we have more "forbidden" things to do, especially against SWFs.

  • BananaBlooD95
    BananaBlooD95 Member Posts: 555

You mean the 110% killer that all have strong power that can down a survivor easily? Or many of the 115% that also have strong anti looping power?

There are only so few tiles where you need to loop more than 3times as killer before forcing a pallet or get a hit and I'd argue that on those tile you'd rather go chase someone else to get more pressure/value.

It's unbelievable how many DBD player are entitled survivor or killer main who think they are god at the game and would never consider making some mistakes.

  • Tsulan
    Tsulan Member Posts: 15,095

A 110% killer that gets run around a tight obstacle and therefore can´t use his power at all. Because whenever you try to use the power, you get slowed down even further.

  • BananaBlooD95
    BananaBlooD95 Member Posts: 555

    Let's see.

Hag wouldn't put down a trap in that situation, she shut down bigger loops

Huntesss & Deathsligner-> it depend on how tall the tile is

Spirit-> we really don't give a ######### if she get run on a small loop

Plague->If survivor cleanse then she have a strong ranged power so same as Huntress/Deathsligner if they don't then all she need is 1 hit to down survivor once they are injure.

So yeah it happen, on loop where the killer's power doesn't shine. 110% Killer have strong power, what do you want? Survivor not being able to run them on any tile at all? I guess we should remove pallets in your games.

  • Tsulan
    Tsulan Member Posts: 15,095

Oh killers having the same hitbox as survivors would be nice. So mindgames would be really mindgames.
