Where are the more evil killers?
For all the original killers all of them are pretty much just murders or crazy. I understand why they can't put Nazis or Klan members in the game, but pedophiles, rapists, terrorists, ect..., aren't in the lore or motivations of any of the original killers. Why are the devs holding out from the more dark aspects of horror.

I was thinking more gore content actually, but those kind of things can make the age restriction 21, which is 18 now.

Since some of those topics aren't allowed in some countries, and in this day and age ( at least from my experience) everyone is so sensitive over the most stupid #########

Rather than more evil people, I wish we had a demon or two. Heck a Deadite from Evil Dead would be very welcome.

Tbf, a few of the licensed killers provide that.
The Freddy we have is a confirmed pedophile.
And one of the main things about Pyramid Head is sexual violence, so there's that.

Outside of Licenses cause Myers would win, Nurse would be as she straight up killed a whole entire hospital and even was described as "Batshit crazy" by BHVR in a dev stream

Yeah, but I mean the original killers that devs come up with. I thought Clown would be, but he's just another murdering weirdo. Also doesn't PH lose his themes of sexual frustration after SH2?

Clown may be a #########. It is not confirmed but it is somehow implied. The problem with doing killers that do this kind of thing is that people are gonna have to play with them. When designing a playable character for a game, the character has to have at least some charisma so people will want to play as them because they want to feel the fantasy of being them. Doctor may be a absolute thrash of a human being, but his lore is fun and pass emotions of a true mad scientists. The same can be said abou Oni and Clown to some extent, as all of them have some charisma that make the players want to hunt as them. If you put a true pedo on the game, it would seem strange to make a lore for him that make him charismatic without looking offensive on such a offensive topic.

Pyramid Head is mainly a form of toxic masculinity. That's what pretty much all of SH2 is about, and imo any time he was used afterwards was just for fanservice.
And as for the original killers, well, like some people already pointed out it's likely because of age ratings in certain countries. And, also, that's some... Heavy topics and ######### people really have to go through. Nobody actually has to deal with giant Oni and serial Clown killers. People do suffer from some of the topics mentioned. It's a huge jump from average, not realistic at all serial killer to topics like ######### and pedophilia.

Not to be insensetive, but if things like that trigger someone, then a game where people get impaled on hooks, caught in bear traps, have their liver ripped out and eaten while they're still alive and get forced to choke on someone else's vomit shouldn't be played by them.

Because that really is too dark for a popular game. Like, way too dark. Those kinds of awful, terrible people exist far more commonly in real life and inflict their atrocities on far more people than most want to even think about. How are you supposed to gain an audience when so many people have terrible memories that such themes would dredge up? How many people not personally affected would avoid the game anyways either as a boycott or, more likely, sheer discomfort?

See that's kinda what I was thinking for why they haven't added darker themes, but I'd assume they would spiffy them up a bit maybe imply that they're like that, but insofar I think any topic about it in the dev room is a hard no.

The thing is, nothing you listed is realistic. Nobody has to worry about getting their liver ripped out by a walking corpse, nobody has to worry or suffers from being attacked by an ancient, Babylonian priestess vomiting in their faces. ######### and pedophilia are real, and are things that people actually suffer from.
Somebody like Doctor or Trickster aren't realistic. Rapists and pedophiles are.

Cannibalism is real, so yes, there are people that have been eaten alive. Doesn't matter if it is real or not, if someone has been traumatized by violence, they shouldn't be seeking violence in video games.

I think you missed my point. Yeah-- Cannibalism is real. Serial killers are real. But those things are so uncommon that people who've been traumatized by these things are even more uncommon.
######### and pedophilia, sadly, aren't all that uncommon. The violence in DbD is so over-exaggerated and cartoonish that is makes it harder to connect it to real cases of violence. Adding something more realistic would blur that line.

I'm not saying terrorism is stupid or anything like that what I meant was something like subjects the Movie Candyman brought up might be a bit touchy today for people today, and some aspects of horror that while brings up important issues that should be talked about, are just forced out of the way, and silenced for being to touchy.

Yeah, I gotta agree with @MadLordJack . This is a game, and while dark, still meant to be played for fun. Perhaps escape real life for a bit. I don't think we need anything this dark reminding us of how terrible the world can be when we load in just to have some fun games.

Doctor isn't realistic... You've never heard of the monkey head experiments I take it? Or the man the Doc is likely based on, Yang Yongxin? Science has had several darker turns and Doc represents that dark side quite well.

Pedophilia is already in the game with 2010 Freddy, the line has already been blurred. Doesn't matter how cartoonish (which I don't think it is) the game is, people who have had violent traumatic experiences shouldn't be playing a video game that centers around violence. There are other games they can be playing.

Technically Freddy is a pedophile and a murderer. I would also guess that it is because in the lore the Entity goes for people it believes would be good killers, people that would do it's bidding and torture, while rapists and terrorists are just like bad awful people. They are also holding out because the characters need good marketable sense and making a terrorist would not only anger people but also be awful in the game, same with rapists. The game is still meant to be a fun experience and adding something so gross wouldn't be great.

Freddy is a fair argument, but I'd be pretty comfortable with saying the average consumer would have no idea that's the 2010 version of Freddy. The same thing with Pyramid Head. And yes, this game's violence is cartoonish. It may be violent and bloody, but it's nowhere near realistic. Pretty much all the Mori's since Nurse are incredibly out there.
It's not up to you to say what these victims can and can't play. It's up to them. This is a videogame, people play it to have fun.

You're wrong and you have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to PTSD triggers. If someone was sexually assaulted that has nothing to do with cannibalism being real. There's very few people who have triggers related to cannibalism, impalement, etc, and quite a lot of people who have PTSD caused by sexual assault or childhood sexual assault.
Even just PTSD caused by general violence likely won't be impacted by cartoon violence, because real world violence is very different. People impacted by real world violence are more likely to be triggered by things like guns.

I didn't say they can't play it, I said they shouldn't. If they choose to play it, they have no right to complain about any type of the violence contained it in. They should do their due diligence, research the game and make an educated decision before purchasing and playing the game.

The original killers. The dev can only change so much of licensed killers lore & motivations. All the original killers' lore isn't as dark as it could be.

I don't think so, he is a crazy psycho and those kinds of people are really weird sometimes with how they murder people. He did drug people, but probably only for their fingers, because that was his sort of way to achieve pleasure.

And I didn't say you said they couldn't play the game. I said you have no right to say what these people should or should not play, which you don't. That isn't up to you, and you don't get to act like it is. And on that note, we can agree. They should do their research. I was simply pointing out there is a huge difference between the dark tones the game currently has and the ones mentioned in the post.

I've lived in a war torn country that had lots of violence(beheadings, missile attacks, torture were all common) for 6 years. I've been abused multiple times throughout my life, sometimes as young as when I was 7. I understand how people can be triggered by different things, my point is that people who can get triggered need to do their due diligence when it comes to video games or entertainment.
Video game developers are not responsible if their violent video game traumatizes people when there are plenty of warnings of said violence.

I'm not dictating what they should or should not play, though I admit I may have worded it poorly. I just think they shouldn't complain about it in a very violent and gory video game in which they should have done their due diligence before playing.
As for my personal opinion, pedophiles and rapists should never be featured as playable characters in a video game or any kind of media except for the news.

Then that part is just a misunderstanding. I can agree to everything else listed in the post. I also don't think BHVR ever will, because even with the characters I listed, Freddy and PH, nothing is blatantly said. All just implied.

I don't want to step into awkward territory here lol, but he probably used that VHS tape to "satisfy himself" instead of the people honestly.
If he even has that (and probably more), then he would most likely have only caught victims for their fingers because he is crazy for them. He is insane (not as much as doctor tho) for fingers and you can tell by the way he treats them. In his mori, he obviously sucks them and then puts them in his box. The box he puts them in has the inside made of velvet or nice silk (I forgot where I read about this in his lore), meaning he treasures them highly. His lore also doesn't mention him "using his victims for pleasure" or imply it either, just that he captures people and takes their fingers.

2010 Freddy is in the game, whose movie confirmed he molested children. Therefore, if that is too much for certain people, they should just refrain from playing the game.

Those types of people shouldn’t be recognized by being put into a popular game. Yes, DBD is meant to be a dark and twisted game, but r*pist and terrorist shouldn’t be given a spotlight on a big game like this.

A lot of us pointed to Yang not just because of his use of Shock Therapy, but also due to WHY he used it, who his survivor was (Ming), and his nationality.
Yang used his controversial treatment to "cure internet addiction". Ming is a professional in esport and is of Chinese decent. So many of us felt he might be loosely based off him as a result.
