So Hex: Devour Hope...

Who actually gets to use it? Lol I see streamers and the mori up close and personal but when I try to run it, my totem gets cleansed in like 0.5 seconds. It sucks because free mori without actually bringing a mori offering?? Sign me up however it never works out in my favor which is terribly unfortunate.

I have, but it's very much a luck based thing when run all by itself.

I've had more than a couple games with 4 moris, just like I've had more than one where it gets instabroken. The spawn makes a big difference: the easier it is for Survivors to find it, the harder it will be to stop them from eventually cleansing it.

But it can also depend on being able to both get a fast initial down and being able to keep finding and downing people afterwards.

If you're struggling, the Survivor will have plenty of time to find and cleanse it, even if it's hidden well.

But if you can keep up the pressure, it's got a much better chance of being unnoticed until you get your 4th or 5th token, even when right out in the open.

I used to use it on Ghostface. Now it gets cleansed before I even get the exposed effect.

It’s extremely 50/50. I’ve had matches where entire teams have been destroyed by it and they just can’t find the totem and in other games it’s cleansed within the first minute of the match starting. It’s not a consistent perk, but it’s definitely a fun one to verse / use because of how much it can change the match. I use it on Legion a lot and I love getting those surprise downs.

I might be alone in thinking this, but I feel like it’s a genuinely fun perk for both sides. I just love the pressure it adds to both killer and survivor, whether that’s trying to defend / get stacks or trying to find / cleanse.

I have a totem build that i sometimes use for fun. Ruin, Devour Hope, Haunted Grounds and Thrill of the Hunt.

When Devour Hope actually gets the chance to kick in, it can lead to some nice kills but usually it gets cleansed. Lol.

Basically it's like a 50/50 chance of cleansing the right totem, pretty much a meme build but good when it does work. :)

It is 50/50 like every other hex perk. In my opinion Devour Hope is by far the strongest hex perk in the game because it is the most rewarding when you manage to pull it of. It is also a game slower because as soon as one person gets one shot 1-2 or even 3 people will try to cleanse it, which means they won't work on gens. It is still high risk, high reward but in my opinion the reward is way higher than the risk.

If you get a decent spawn you get to use it, if not then it gets destroyed before the 3 tokens. Its all luck so no number can be given. But overall, i think it's the most decent hex perk we have.

Please don't call them free moris, cause like you said: Getting to actually use them is a rare occurrence, and requires quite the build-up.

That said, my usage rate of the Perk is fairly high: If it's not cleansed prematurely, i usually get 1-3 Exposed hits in before they find it.

And then the rare ability to kill them happens, hmmmm, maybe once every 7 trials?

At that point, i switch from my "don't care about my Hex Totems" tactic to "care a lil bit about them".

Y'know: I go check on it, but don't just hang around at it.

From my experience, it's more rare for the Hex Totem to actually get cleansed at that point, usually Survivors all drop like dominoes.

Some even give themselves up, not wanting to face a super-lunge Wraith with perma-Exposed & killing without any hookings.

It's 50/50 for me, sometimes I get the 5 stacks and sometimes I don't - that's why it's considered a high risk/high reward perk. I do love spicy Devour Hope games though.

Well you need to defend your hex totem. Because Devour Hope ending game so fast. And when it gonna active survivors will search it. So stay near your hex totem and you will get what you wanna.

    Usually that works for me

Nurse with devour thrill and undying I usually get 5 stacks in one out of two games

As soon as you hit somebody with 3 stacks, every single resource will go into finding that totem. If you can slug a few people at 2 stacks and then hook them, by the time they realise you have devour you're usually at 5 stacks. But its still dependant on decent totem spawns. Undying can help with this now.

I would avoid running it with ruin; as soon as survivors see ruin in play they will be actively looking for lit totems. Likewise, corrupt intervention will often encourage people to look for totems rather than work on the available gens.
