A good killer

When I play killer, I would say I know three to five minutes into the match whether or not the survivors are good and if I need to play hard.

If the gens are popping and they are able to run me through loops and pallets, I know I need to play hard, it's going to be a close game and, I shouldn't hold back.

If I'm scoring easy downs, the survivors are giving me free hits and, generally not making good decisions, I know that I'm out playing them and, I ease off.

Being able to weigh the pressure and knowing when to play hard or play around makes a good game for everyone.

I really don't understand why killers who are obviously wrecking a team, multiple hooks and maybe one gen gets done but, they continue to sweat on them? Then they complain about tea bagging survivors as if the noob team you just slaughtered were any good?

Exit to post game and you are purple / red ranked Killer who just went all sweaty on teen ranked survivors...

If you're waiting three to five minutes to decide if you need to play hard against a good team and they are a good team, you'll find out quick because the game will be over in about another minute or two :D

It's a big issue with Red Rank but one I'm not sure how you'd really solve. Killers at Red Rank have to go full on out right away because if they don't and they're playing a good team, it'll be over immediately. If I'm slaughtering a team because it's clear they're an average or below average team, by the time I pump the brakes on them, it's usually too late for them to catch back up (unless I play patronizingly bad just to let them back in the game, which might be even more insulting than just finishing them off; although I've done that for survivors and STILL gotten T-Bagged at the end so I'm not even sure it's worth it as a killer to worry about slaughtering them...).

I know, right? Against the Survivors I fight, the game is usually over in 3-5 if I don't play 100% all in. :)

I guess I'm saying within a few minutes, I know whether to play hard or not. I actually like the games where I clearly outclass survivors because, I can set the speed of the match. I can leave people on the ground, slug and "play with my food".

It all adds up to bloodpoints anyways and, I know how it feels to wait on survivor cue sometimes just to get rolled or, die on my first hook.

I play hard most of the time because if I'm destroying a team, they obviously don't need to be ranking up and going against somebody who's better than me.

Way I see it, we complain about the matchmaker a lot - and yet we do things that make it not reflect the skill level of players by "going easy" on people. Seems a bit hypocritical to me as far as I'm concerned.

It's not that incapable of occasional kindness - if somebody playing well but the other three guys are complete potatos, then I may go easy on the guy who deserves to rank up as it isn't that guy's fault his teammates were idiots.

We really shouldn't be letting people rank up who don't deserve it

I suppose I understand not allowing people to rank who shouldn't but, is that really the case when yellow ranks are matched up with a red killer? Of course they likely aren't at that level of play.

Regardless of rank, I know when I'm wrecking a team and they have no chance. I don't mind holding back and letting the game play on.

I don't really understand why matchmaker even allows that, what's the purpose of a rank system if not to separate the level of play?

I get your point OP and play killer with a similar mindset.

Had a game just now on The Game as pig and was doing well. I could have finished the game with a 4k with 3 gens left and had last 2 survivors slugged. I picked one up and let them wiggle off and heal each other and finish the remaining gens. Turns out it was a rainbow ranks type of match...

I find this more fun than going full sweat every game no matter what. Each to their own I guess :)

I used to play with the same mindset.

Unfortunately survivors took advantage of any and all good will, and used it to harass me or insult me.

Always try all the time now, no more hatch or anything either generally.
