Why reveal RE now?
Don't get me wrong, I am very excited for resident evil to be in DBD, but I am also confused.
But there is just one burning question I have, why reveal RE now? "All-kill" LITERALLY dropped two weeks and one day ago as of today.
The shortest BHVR releases or even starts to tease new chapters is 3 months, it hasn't even been one and they just straight up told us that RE was coming to DBD in the next patch. It seems so early.
My concern is how they will take a creature from resident evil and fit it into this game. Will they take Mr. X, an unstoppable unit in RE and make him be stopped by pallets and windows? Will they take lady dimitrescu and do the same? Who knows right now? Maybe they will bring a brand new kind of killer in that actually fits. I mean just look at demo dog. In Stranger things, he was borderline unstoppable. In DBD he is stopped by a block of wood.
Why would they take the spotlight off of the Trickster so fast? It is even worse because the Trickster is supposed to be a showman kind of killer, a narcissist thriving off of attention. His chapter seems so out of place now since resident evil is coming, a huge title that completely overshadows the last chapter.
It is just really weird how they are straight-up telling us "Yes, resident evil is coming to DBD" TWO WEEKS after "All-kill".
My guess? I think they actually have big plans for the game. I am an optimist, so I think that they are going to do A LOT with this resident evil chapter, more than just a new map, killer, survivor. I am talking about a massive patch to the game with things we don't even know are coming yet. Mclean did say that we are going to see some cool things soon.
Aside from the very big question "Why reveal RE now?", I am looking forward to this chapter and I can't wait to see what is coming.

i have a feeling it's because of this
they had a resident evil showcase today, there might not be another one before village, what better way to stir up hype? especially after all-kill's... lukewarm reception.

Because All-kill backfired. They tried to copy that K-Pop thing LoL did and failed. Even paying journalists to write stupid stuff like "everyone wants trickster to step on them" nobody cared about it, the K-pop fans in twitter don't even play DbD so why they pandered to them is beyond me.
So now they are trying to fix it by riding on the hype train RE is carrying with RE8.

lol did you just read my entire post and cut out a screenshot in one minute?

Likely Capcom's decision not BHVR's.
As Karu said the Resident Evil Village premiere aired a couple hours ago and ended very recently. It revealed a lot of stuff about RE Village, RE4 VR, the Netflix series and Resident Evil X Dead by Daylight.
As a big fan of Resident Evil I'm super stoked for everything that was shown. Now even more so with Dead by Daylight being confirmed as a crossover.

im a fast reader when im excited

This content has been removed.

Or maybe you could just consider that it's re's 25th anniversary and it was likely capcom who wanted to release it?
3 -
Not because you like K-pop and how much of an awful killer Trickster is it means All-kill was liked. Stop shilling it for free.

They needed to fill that gap from Twins to the RE announcement. The marketing must stay consistent though so BHVR must've worked around time constraints. Such as no teaser trailer and shadow-dropping a new killer as an update. They at the very least added new major content even with the price of being delivered differently.
4 -
Ya as others have said, this is more about RE with a sidedish of dbd. Also gives dbd fans plenty of time to preorder RE Village.
6 -
Can you imagine if this was all a dream? TELL ME I'M AWAKE !!!

Not shilling it. I haven't even bought it. trickster is still a awful killer. most of the perks in this chapter are extremely niche (continuing the streak of chapters with useless perks that started with the stranger things chapter) I'm at least content he's getting buffs tho Who are you to say whether all kill failed or not anyways. you don't know the sales numbers

I don’t follow the RE series (like I do for Silent Hill) but, not gunna lie, if the new killer is found in the new Silent Hill, I’ll probably buy and play it.
Also heard some thirsty doods talking about and highlighting some big bodied she-hulk, with massive...er...TITS.
Jeez, if they put that in the game then I think we’ll get more tweens then any FNAF chapter ever could lol. Course I’m okay with all of this~

I think it probably was Capcom's decision. BHVR would probably wait a little bit more, if they could.
6 -
Capcom probably wanted to announce it. I mean that's the obvious answer. This is RE's 25th Anniversary and DBD's 5th Anniversary. Pretty big event on both ends.
7 -
They probably announced it to hype people up, and draw attention away from Home Sweet Home
2 -
I notice this is a desperation move from BHVR since they lost alot of players with broken bugs and 3 terrible chapters hahahaha
2 -
- Most people don't really give a damn about All-Kill and Trickster anymore since he's been bad for a month and a half.
- RE showcase.
- Steal back players from other games because All-Kill had mixed to negative reviews, long time players are tired of BHVR's shenanigans. It's a good way to bring back old players and a huge demographic of new ones.

Alright, full blown tinfoil hat time! What if we not only get Resident Evil as Chapter 20 but, also during the livestream, they drop a paragraph or two on us as well. Along with, I really, REALLY hope, a brand new gamemode for DBD. Also, please, just on a side note, I really want to see what that early game collapse has become since it's initial announcement.

It's the 5th anniversary, a big event. It gets the player base really riled up and interested.
0 -
They pretty much said they changed their minds on the whole early game collapse thing a while back.
1 -
Yeah, I remember them saying that but, I believe they did also say that it's evolved into a completely different mechanic and that's what I'm excited to see... just don't have anything else to call it other then well, what it used to be called. :(
1 -
Why not hype it up though? One of the biggest issues they had was not keeping us in the loop. Colorblind issue they were clearly working on, but that dev was all stupid about it so they had to say something then. It was probably pressure from Capcom, but maybe BHVR will learn that some mystery is good, but we like to be in the loop. So I'm okay with hype.

Binding of Kin.
All Kill.
Were about to heavily nerf Demo's chase power because they want him to play like a more mobile Pig without RBTs without taking the *STOMP GURGLE STOMP STOMP GURGLE SCREEEE* into account.
They screwed up big time. Repeatedly. Consecutively.
They really, really need this hype.

Ps they made rat liver base now and and reduced the addon effect to be the same if you run it
4 -
Well keep in mind freddy is in this game and pallets/windows stop him too. Also there is an actual spirit that can be stopped by pallets and can't go through walls. Come to think of it most killers in the game don't seem to be able to be stopped by such things but its part of the game so it would make sense no matter who the killer is.
1 -
Not initially. It hurts PR to even reveal that they would make such an absolutely insipid mistake.
The only reason they even made it basekit is because everyone was freaking out about it and threatening to quit the game.
0 -
And because of that mistake they made it base because clearly they weren't gonna if the community didn't
1 -
it wouldn't be lukewarm if they actually released him as a good killer.
0 -
because the Resident Evil podcast revealed it today.
so they just went ahead and dropped the Trailer aswell.
0 -
are you able to not ######### about trickster for half a second or are you contractually obligated to complain at every given moment?
3 -
I don't buy that. This would have had to have been set up before All-Kill was released.
0 -
IT'S NOT A DREAM,YOU ARE AWAKE
2 -
Obviously because capcom wanted it revealed today with the 25 years re and all.
It always surprises me that people actually think the devs are desperate.
6 -
GoodBoyKaru's comment is the most likely reason, but revealing the chapter super early will also get a lot of Resident Evil fans to purchase Dead By Daylight so they can play as their favorite game character. The same thing occurred with the Stranger Things chapter.
0 -
Not to say each of these are equally important reasons but I think they all factor into why announce it now. (In no particular order)
1. Hype up the game more for people and bring both dbd and re into the game, especially before release
2. To avoid it being leaked early (I could see Capcom especially being super pissed about an early leak). The next patch or do could have some early assets in that would ruin the surprise.
3. 25 anniversary showcase as well
2 -
Yeah this RE announcement has broken All Kill in half so quicky.

I was actually thrown off. I saw the trailer this morning when I woke up and when it started I was like "Oh, somebody made a fan made trailer, how cute". And when Mathieu appeard I was like "This is for real?!"
