Why should i play Trickster?
genuine question.
i tried, but every game ive played him the survivors beat me.
and it wasnt even a struggle for them, i filled up maybe 50% of my hook meter by the time the 5th gen popped and then i struggled really hard to get any kills at all.
and then i get teabagged, flashlight clicked / chainblinded and made fun of.
why should i ever drop Deathslinger for this character? they are extremely similar in terms of gameplay, but one can actually perform well (Deathslinger), while the other (Trickster) just gets bullied.
seriously, the feeling i get from playing those two characters, despite them being so extremely similar, was entirely different.
with Deathslinger i feel like a real threat to whoever is in front of me. the slightest screw up from their part means i get the opportunity to down them - while Trickster just feels like a 4.4 m/s M1 killer. i literally had a match on Lerys where it felt like i didnt even have a power to begin with, something i've never experience with Deathslinger!
and even if i do get a blade hit on someone, it just doesnt feel rewarding, as i need 7 more for it to achieve ANYTHING and it automatically resets itself if i dont follow up on it immediately. this not only creates a tunnelvision on whoever i hit, it also means i dont get the same feeling of excitement when my shots connect that i would get by playing Deathslinger, as his shots, every single one of them, actually matter and reward me for hitting them.
so why should i ever play Trickster again (in his current state)?
please someone pep talk me into not completely abandoning this character, because i genuinely like his design (from an audio / visual standpoint)...
EDIT:
okay, remember the Lerys game i talked about above where i just felt like a 4.4 m/s M1 Killer throughout the entire match because it was almost impossible to get my knifes to work?
yeah due to that map apparently having a 95% appearance chance right now i got it as Slinger aswell. needless to say it is a horrible map for him, but not once throughout the entire trial did i ever get that feeling ive had with Trickster for the entire match! and i 3ked by the time they had 2 gens left (a win in my book, im not gonna slug to deny hatch unless the 4th person is literally in front of me)
so even if i put Deathslinger in the worst possible odds, he just beats Trickster quite easily. and i can quite confidently say that ive had much more fun in that Lerys game than ive ever had with Trickster regardless of the map.
so to conclude this, i honestly think im done with Trickster for now. i see absolutely no reason to drop Slinger for him.
doesnt mean i wouldnt try out some of the things suggested in the comments down below (thanks for the suggestions ^^), but this is most likely going to be one of those killers who i max out and then never touch again.
thank you for everyone who replied, even if there was but a small minority of people who actually tried to talk me back into him, but at least i know now that i am by far not the only one with such thoughts on him.
thank you and have a good day / night!

There's absolutely zero reason to play this guy. Maybe if you're really bad at aiming, he's worth picking up since there's little to no punishment in missing some knives in comparison to missing a hatchet or spear.
He's just weaker in every way, it's pretty bad two other killers in the game do what he does, but better.

Why should you play Trickster?
To level him so you can unlock Starstruck for better Killers.

Deathslinger is definitely stronger than Trickster. For this reason, there is no reason to play Trickster over Slinger. However, I find Trickster to be a lot more fun and relaxing if you have the right perks and add-ons on him.
The build I run on him is Ruin, Undying, M&A, and Iron Maiden. My favorite add-ons to run on him are Bloody Boa/Trick Pouch and Melodious Murder (which is arguably the best Trickster add-on). I play Trickster when I feel like I want a good and relaxing time instead of going for wins, though I still play to get 4ks as him. If I want wins but a fun time at the same time, I play Blight and Clown.

Well Deathslinger A-Tier killer or strong B idk. So if you have fun, you have to stay with Deathslinger. Trickster is D-Tier
I love Trickster because aim with him is not to hard. Before him i played +50 matches as Huntress, idk i didnt like her so much. Her aim is weird. I never tried Deathslinger, maybe he is better than Trickster (gameplay).

You shouldn't.

okay, once i unlocked all of that i'll give it a try.
lets hope its going to make it a better experience!

Gl man, I hope you don't regret leveling him.

well, in terms of gameplay they are quite similar.
same downsides, same strength, same difficulty level of hitting a shot (with more of a punishment when you miss on Slingers part - still nothing bad though, unless you miss like two or three times in a row).
its just that a Tricksters hit deals an eigth of a healthstate worth of damage immediately, while Deathslinger has to reel them in first, but gets one and a half healthstates worth of damage out of it.

cause you hate yourself?

i sure hope so too!

Yes Deathslinger little same Huntress. I did not like her because her axes so slow. I mean you cant spam them. But blades are really fast. That is why Trickster needs 8 blades for one hit. But that is not problem because he using them so fast. Worst thing about Trickster, he needs more fast. If they give him more fast, i think Trickster will be good. Because survivors can make him forever loop. And you need to use m1. But if i am gonna use m1, i have better options.

I've been playing him a lot and the last several games I've gotten 4ks without straight up M1. Although last night was a struggle.

If you don't mind winning then do it. I enjoy him for his sense of humor against survivors.

But the Doctor giggles more . . . XD

Why should you play Deathslinger?
Play whoever. If you don't like a character, you don't like them. Nothing is forcing you to play them.

yeah but thats the thing:
i LOVE the character, i really do.
but every time i try playing him, i get reminded of just how bad he is and the games are just overall extremely frustrating.
so i really want to play him, i really want to like him - but i just cant get myself to do it.
thats why i made this post, because i want people to motivate me to give him another shot, maybe with a build suggestion they find enjoyable, maybe with some tipps and tricks they found out with him, something - because i really do want to like him, i just cant find a way to do it on my own.

I find that he is actually quite strong, somewhere around the level of Ghostface. His playstyle is holding W at survivors and knowing when to ready his knives. You can get hits pretty much everywhere. No m1, no mindgames, just follow people around and hurl glass daggers I'm their backs. He has a high mechanical skill cap but otherwise has nothing else to keep me interested thanks to how much you are punished for cool shots, whether or not you land them.
But, if you like characters that require mechanical skill then he's a solid choice.

Actually he only giggle when he stunned or shocking. Trickster pretty much having a good time whenever he chasing and hooking. He even get upset just like the huntress after a stunned.

You shouldn't. You shouldn't even play killer. That will send a message to the devs that the game should not be balanced around killers getting 5-6 hooks in a game, and then 3 people escaping.

Because he......I think he......he's really.......KNIVES GO BRRRRRR 😬😬😬

I have fun playing trickster, honestly I play him just to flex on survivors when I beat them with the weakest killer in the game, sure there are a fair share of games that are of bullying from survivors but that's with any killer you play. There will always be a butt dancing claudette and clicky flashlight Nea. At the end of the day I really enjoy playing trickster and goofing around with survivors when my match ends up failing me. I think you should think again before abandoning him, he is difficult to win matches with but when you do win one with him and you learn how win matches with his disadvantages it can be so fun and you can have that sense that you accomplished being great at playing the weakest killer in the game 4k, double pipping, and get a laugh out of salty survivors.

THE 3 REASONS I'VE BEEN USING.
> You don't have to play Trickster.
> You could play Trickster when Killer based MMR works so you can find a comfortable spot as him. (2 Kill, 2 Escape maybe?)
> You can find a build you enjoy on Trickster and play it sometimes. (I got every perk as him and I have yet to find a single build that works on him better than anyone else, I don't reccomend this option)

Oh and a build suggestion- nurses, star struck, pop, and bbq. I found this build to be pretty fun with him.

He's fun, but he's still not good. He needs a loop pressure tool because his 110 with nothing to break loops nets him a ton of unwinnable chases.
Main Event can be reshaped to fit this, though. If it retained full charge until used, and all it did was give bouncy blades for the duration (so no control screw either, no forced dagger throwing) and give unlimited blades, he could work so much better.
Perhaps even make it charge from chase time, too.
