There’s no denying that the frequency of keys found in chests has increased.
It just can’t be argued. There’s so much anecdotal evidence currently.
Even myself, I have found either a red or purple key multiple times, consecutive games straight without Plunderers. In fact when i was messing around with Plunderers in my Open Handed build for a day, my frequency of finding keys of any kind went DOWN!
Something isn’t right.
And when can Hoarder be fixed so it reduces item rarity? Ideally, it would be great if Hoarder 100% guaranteed only brown and yellow items for survivors, with green items at best when a survivor is using Plunderers or Appraisal.
With the myriad of options to survivors that help them escape, there needs to be better choices for a killer to deal with keys. Fixing Hoarder wouldn’t solve the issue, but at least it would be something.

Yeah, purple and red key rates in chests are insane right now.

Just had a match where the survivors were on their last gen and one of them had been killed, I patrolled the three gens until I realized they weren't working on them at all so I just tried to find them and/or the hatch but I couldn't find even a single scratch mark until like ten minutes later they all escaped with a key they found. Ridiculous.

Played a survivor game earlier and without any perks or offerings to increase luck, got two keys while searching chests.

Luck doesn’t effect chests. It only affects self unhooks, and freeing from Trappers bear traps.

BVHR won't do anything about it. It gives survivors a free win without having to do anything and survivors love being pandered to.

Yes there's a bug right now with chests giving absurd amounts of keys.
I was playing survivor, without any chest perks, and unlocked TWO Red keys right after the other.
Playing as killer, almost all my games have a key user in them which is super annoying. Key escapes have escalated tremoundlsy.

It's most likely a bug. I was playing a survivor match (without perks that affect the rarity of items) and found 2 purple keys in a row. It's strange, to say the least.

it sucks the amount of times i've had survivors key escape without plunders lol hope that gets fixed soon.

Yea seems to be increasing the rate of all purple / pink items in chests, hopefully fixed soon.

It is interesting that you brought up your experience with plunderers. I recently used it for around 5-6 trials to help find chests for challenges, and it seemed like I saw much lower quality items than if I were not to have plunderers on. I wonder if the rarity increase from plunderers somehow swapped with the default value, causing these problems? Regardless of what is causing it, something does feel off with chests giving better items than usual.

Above is a link to a bug report a member put in on the issue. It may be beneficial for everyone who feels this is a problem to check this thread out, comment in it, and give it an upvote so the developers will notice. To my knowledge, the developers have not acknowledged that something is off with rarity, so perhaps they are currently unaware of any issue.

I had a game with 2 survs left. One of them opened hatch, I closed it, then the other opened the hatch again. I had another match where a Nea 3 gen's us, but bcuz she found a key the 3 of us escaped. Getting dupped out of stuns is nowhere near as bad as the keys ever other match.

They had to permanently nerf a perk because changing rarity was too hard for them to do, and then somehow managed to muck up that exact same value by accident.
It's a little impressive honestly.

I found 3 purple keys 3 chests in a row across two games. I was not running plunderer's or anything that would have increased my chance of finding a key.
I don't usually loot chests. But I might just get into the habit...

I got 1 purple key and 2 red keys in a match using Elodies chest perk. That seems legit.

I usually play plunderers if i play solo.
But some days ago i had a daily for a survivor without plunderers. I had 2 matches with them, and i found a key in both matches...
Usually, i dont see keys as a problem, because even with plunderers, which is rarley used, you get a key ever 3-4 matches, and even then you dont need them all the time you found one.
In addition, a key escape - at least to me - is an escape, but still a defeat. Killer won, i just got out.
I even find keys important for solo queues, because of how common it is in matches for one survivor to dc or hook suicide, turning the match into the killers favor before a single gen is done, just because you had a ######### teammate.
But the frequency in which keys appear in chests at the moment, yeah, i think that makes them kind of broken. (like with moris, i never had a problem with them because they werent common in my matches. When they start to be, then it turns into a problem)

I want to add another thing: Camping and tunneling is incredible frequent at the moment, much more frequent than keys found in chests. So its kind of nice it balances that a bit, and that a killer doesnt get a free win just because he faces solo players instead of swf.

I guess that's because part of keys rework includes their decreased rarity in chests.
