Tedious Archive Challenges
I completed EVERY challenge on the current tome and barely got to tier 70 after playing for at least 1-2 hrs a day. Some of these challenges are just plain stupid, unrewarding and just take way too long to complete even with a full party, (mainly referring to survivor challenges).
I like challenges that require using a specific perk cause it gives us a reason to not run meta perks all the time and get rewarded. But those like "Cleanse FIFTEEN totems, Heal FIFTEEN health states", is just plain stupid. These sort of challenges are found in almost every tome level and are just straight up boring and annoying.
"Sacrifice 4 survivors in the basement (single trial)"- have completed this more than 4 times and none of them count eddue to a bug which i have already reported and the devs didn't do anything.
"Sacrifice 2 survivors in a single trial with NOED during ECG"- Unless you're bad killer who relies on noed every time to win, you will have to go afk till the last gen

What do you mean? I had great fun unhooking 25 people, healing 15 people, helping 9 people escape after me and stunning the killer 12 times while pallet stuns were bugged.
/s
And I'm nowhere close to tier 70. I completed every single challenge and I'm at tier 61. I'm aiming for 62 so I get a little more of my money back (I bought the rift for the Felix outfit) and that's where I'll throw in the towel.

This rift does feel a lot more tedious than the previous ones. I normally get to tier 70 with 2 weeks to spare but I'm still on level 66 after playing for several hours a week.

Glad to know I’m not the only one that feels like this Archive is grindier than usual.

I don't get this - I've not completed every single challenge but I've got to the end of the tome. How can you not if you've finished all of them?

it is, been playing the same amount and usually finish the rift with 2 weeks to spare. This one however is ass

Probably didn't play the game as much, u basically have to play at least 5 killer games and dominate a day to get all 70 tiers

I don’t think I will finish this rift, level 55 N I’m stuck on the stun killer one... think we no why, hopefully the killer challenge I have left will complete it

Because I play like 2-4 games a day for most of the rift, with at least one game of killer and one game of survivor, which is already like an hour of DbD every day. Only in the weekends do I have time to play a bit more, which is more than enough time to complete all of the challenges, but nowhere near enough time to get to the end of the rift.
I was at tier 59 when I completed the final challenge, and I'm not going to play ~140 more games in two weeks just to get to tier 70. I have a job and I also play WoW with my guild, so I can't devote all of my time to this game. I would devote my time to it if I saw it was possible, but when my calculations show I need to play more than 10 games per day for the remainder of the rift, I'm out. It would be more doable if I played more than two to four games per day at the start of the rift so I wouldn't end up with 10+ games per day at the end, but that would require me to play more DbD than I often feel like doing.
As a final note, especially at the start, the challenges are super easy and are done really quickly. I often complete the entire first level within the first week, at which point it takes another week before level two releases. During this week, I don't play much, because I find playing without challenges to be boring and I'm more often than not left frustrated. If I lose horribly but completed my challenge, at least I've achieved something and I can take comfort in that. If I lose horribly and had no challenge, I just lost horribly and I feel horrible. If that happens two games in a row, I'd rather go play something else.

I'll take cleansing 15 totems or 25 safe unhooks over reseting a pallet and stunning killer with reset pallet or reset pallet 10 meters from killer challenges any time. Those perk challenges have teammates being useless camping pallets, atleast cleansing totems and safe unhooks are useful to gameplay and are things you should be doing anyway. They should make the cleansing/unhook challenges more rewarding, it's dumb you get less rift fragments for being useful than you do just hanging out by a pallet for the match.

For the stun challenge, I managed to do it 'easily' with Head On, Quick and Quiet and DS. You get one or two Head On stuns, which annoys them into tunnelling you for an easy third stun with DS. It took me 'only' six games for all 12 stuns.

After getting through the main rift to get the totems or whatever they are called I started doing the stun challenges and getting the killer tilted really helps. I got 5 suns on a very angry Bubba in a single game. I was hard camped after that but worth it!

I kid you not, it took me THIRTY PLUS games to get that stupid pallet stun challenge. I know I'm never gonna get the "stun the killer with a pallet you reset with Any Means Necessary" before the rift closes LMAOOO, I'm gonna have to throw a game to complete it tbqh
I've probably played about 20 hours per week and I'm still only tier 61 on the pass with very few challenges left to complete. This rift pass is just a mess considering the amount of bugs survivors were forced to put up with (current pallet stun bug, the desync bug, etc)... and then you couple it with the fact that BOTH of the killers featured in the pass are ones that require a bit of skill and finesse to complete their challenges. Not a good time for those who main survivor LOOOOL

I just wish they were more difficult and weren't just do this so many times. Make interesting ones where you have to use perks more. Eg take a protection hit while metal of man is active, fully heal yourself with solidarity etc. Just make them more entertaining.

I somehow oneshot every single killer challenge despite never playing Nurse or Oni because I lack the skill. That 'demon dash for 10 seconds and down someone' challenge was looking really scary but I went up against a potato Jane who made it possible. Shoutout to potato Jane!
For the reset pallet stun challenge, I recommend throwing down the first pallet you see when you spawn in and resetting it. The notification will draw the killer towards you immediately. You just camp it, get hit and slam it down on them for an easy stun. You waste a pallet and you get hit, but that's your challenge done. At least that's how I did it.

Literally every DbD player: Please lessen the Rift grind!
BHVR: Have the grindiest Rift yet.

Just about the same here. I have played a little over 20 survivor games today and have only healed up to 10 health states. Had Myers with tombstone, bad killers, and hook camps. Even when I wasn't hooked it was a gamble if the survivor had self-heal or a medkit and could heal before I got there. Taking a long break after this.

Sorry, my point wasn't "How can you NOT have completed it you idiot" it was me not understanding how if you have completed all the challenges the tome itself isn't completed - how have I got to 70 without having finished all the challenges, to put it another way. I thought that completing challenges was the only way to move up the levels.

I didn't interpret your post like that, don't worry. :) I just wanted to explain how I completed all the challenges without reaching tier 70, which is sadly very possible. That's why I'm happy to see that there's leaked information stating the next rift will be much more doable, to the point where completing all the challenges should be enough to reach tier 70 with ease.
It's still only a leak though, but here's to hoping it's true.

Man, I managed to get the Nurse challenges done (shoutout to the game where I literally only got two hits but they were exactly the two hits I needed LMAO), and a couple of the Oni ones, but I still have "hit 4 survivors with the oni crushing smash attack of death" or whatever and the one you mentioned.
I tried for hours yesterday to get the pallet stun one- trying to get that challenge legit made me want to quit the game for the first time ever so I just decided that I'll spend a buck or two for my own peace of mind and take a break from the game for a few days. Kind of sucks when you get hit through the pallet, throw it down on top of them, and then they STILL do not get stunned. Also, of COURSE I would get a ton of Tricksters, Nurses, etc.- just killers who wouldn't normally have the pallet thrown on them too often, let alone in a pallet pandemic.
I appreciate your tips, though!! I'm gonna grind the last 2 or 3 generic killer challenges and I'll probably only have to spend about 5 bucks finishing out the pass at that point 😩

Playing games gives you rift shards, too. So you had enough playtime.

If you have it and aren't already, don't forget Head On stuns count as well.
@topic I don't mind the cleanse totems and challenges like that. I hated the Heroic Intervention ones. Getting escapes isn't a huge challenge. Getting your teammates to leave is.

I had to let myself die to the EGC to get credit for this challenge because my teammates were teabagging until the very last second.

I love preforming the break action 35 times with no Brutal Strength, and breakable walls not counting.
When my main is Pyramid Head. Fun.

I decided early on not to sweat this rift, because I didn't like any of the prizes that much. Just playing casually, I got to tier 41, and I can't imagine grinding out the other half.
The silliest challenge this time was definitely stunning the killer with a pallet that you already reset, but I also didn't like that some of the generic killer challenges were blocked by Nurse challenges -- meaning, if you don't/can't play Nurse, you can't get the other challenges either (I can't play Nurse because the VFX give me a migraine).

The oni and felix skin is definitely my purpose for grinding. The pallet reset challenge isn't difficult, just drop the pallets you see and reset them even when the killer isn't there. Then once you're chased, start camping the pallets. Im okay with specific killer challenges, you can always get at least 1 survivor to help you out

This was an easy one. You have to point at the killer twice (wait for the animation to fully play out or else it won't count, so don't spam the emote), once you see the killer coming at you just start pointing
