Jigsaws sketch or grate of gears?
Wanting to run the rigged beartrap build by mixing either of them with tampered timer. Wondering which is more valuable making it a 1/5 chance or making it take longer to search a box. (Both on a big map)

Both give almost the same value, but I think Crate of Gears is slightly better because of the reduced trap setting time.

Crate of Gears is better for reducing the timer for actual trap kills. I tested this extensively a while back, utilizing different Pig addon combos to see how they affected the game and how valuable they were.
However, I personally love playing with 6 boxes, since you can see them running around forever doing nothing if they're unlucky.
As always, Pig is at the mercy of RNG, so if they get their trap off immediately your addons don't matter. And if the timer is never started (common issue) you won't get any value out of them, either. The current issue I have with Pig at red ranks is that getting the first down can cost you 3 generators, so you never get any momentum or pressure going for this to matter.

Either works, if you want to have cheap RNG-Kills. With both it is impossible to remove the Headtrap if the Survivor is unlucky (aka last Box) and is not going from Box to Box as fast as possible.

Ok so Otz and Scorpionz (one of the best Pig mains out there) did some math and testing a few months back and found that with Jigsaw's sketch and Tampered Timer, the survivor has just enough time to search all 5 boxes in 2 minutes to get the trap off, and that is without interruptions. With Crate of Gears and Timer, the survivor physically does not have enough time to search 4 jigsaw boxes unless they get extremely lucky with a map that has close jigsaw box spawns.
So yeah, Tampered Timer does do a lot.

Ah mk! What about running them both like others suggested. Grate of gears and jisgaws sketch? Would that be better or worse then tampered and grate?

I never tested it myself, I am not running Tampered Timer, I refuse to use it. (IMO Pig is capable of being played without Add Ons)

Definitely worse. Don't get me wrong, it still works well, but there's no reason not to pair one of these with Tampered Timer.
(I personally prefer Sketch and Timer but Crate and Timer is objectively better)

Tampered Timer doesn't rely on RNG.

Timer is still hurt by bad RNG less than sketch.
Also, I think you underestimate how good 30 seconds off a trap really is. And as I said before, the math has been done and it is extremely difficult to get the trap off in time when Pig combines Sketch and Timer.

I might be crazy, but I kind of think double gears is pretty decent if you aren't going regular combat piggy.
