How can we make Mori usefull again?

Mori is sadly useless now. I mean you need 2 hooks before mori. And putting survivor to hook is faster than mori animation so many times. Maybe only counters DS but that's all.

My idea activate it after total 8 hooks. Like Deveour Hope. For mori all survivors with normal mori, we need hook them twice (8 hooks). Change it to total hooks. So make mori active after 8 hooks. Before 8 hooks noone can be mori. And after mori active, all survivor can be kill. Even survivor who never get hook. That will make mori more useful and fair for both sides. What you thinking, Don't hesitate to criticize. And if you have idea for mori write and we can discuss.

Change the text on Ebony Mori to the old text for Ivory Mori (kill one survivor after one hook). It has a big impact on the game, but it's a one-shot item that costs a ton, so you really can't afford to use them all the time.

Or lock it until all survivors have been hooked once before you can get your one kill. That way you aren't just chasing the first guy right off the hook.

Or, you could revert them all to one-hook, but require that the mori be performed inside the killer shack, so you can't just drop somebody anywhere.

Or change it so that it only works on one hook, but only if the survivor in question has completed a generator's worth of repairs.

Or revert it to the old way but give it a very difficult skill check to activate or else the survivor heals one state and takes off running.

Or revert it but make it unusable if there are any Healthy survivors in a medium Radius, so brave teams can 'protect' their team mates by putting themselves in danger.

Or revert it, but make it only usable if the survivor is "Exhausted" as a punishment for the extremely powerful Exhaustion perks every survivor always runs.

Or revert it but it only functions if there are at least 3 SWF players in your game (the offering is not consumed if it's mostly Solos).

Or revert it, but make being Mori'd grants the victim a hefty BP bonus (say, 4000 or something) because cool kills are the whole point of slasher movies in the first place, and victims gotta get paid.

There's lots of ways. At the end of the day, if you want the Mori to have an impact on the game, you have to keep its actual hook requirements low. If you're downing a survivor 3 times, your high cost, one-use offering is doing less for you than a brown BP offering and that's an awful waste of points.

That honestly sounds worse than the current mori. The only scenario where you would be able to use it when more than 2 survivors are alive (at which point moris are bad because they open hatch instantly) is if you

    • Sacrifice 1 survivor
    • 2 are on death hook
    • Last one has 1 hook

So the only valid use case for this new mori would be taking a single hook off of a 3v1 with the other 2 on death hook. This change would not be worth BHVR's time and its honestly better now that moris are mostly cosmetic (and for challenges).

Well Devs need to make mori useful again because it is waste of BP for now.

They're fine as they are. Just had the sweatiest Oni who just tunneled everyone on hook in order to mori them out of the match asap and not have to worry about wasting time hooking or risk flashlight saves. Old moris should have never been a thing.

*Note: Yes, I know keys are still a thing and they need to be nerfed into the ground as well, the devs have already stated they are, hopefully it'll come with the next major patch or at least the next chapter.

Make it base kit and allow you to mori the last survivor if you have gotten 10 hooks while still giving you the points you would have gotten by sacrificing the last survivor normally.

  • Warcrafter4
    Warcrafter4 Member Posts: 2,917

The good old cypress mori(Which I always surprise survivor mains by when I bring it up as most ones even in red ranks have never seen it).

I still don't understand why its still an offering and not a basekit feature given its inherent uselessness.

Anyways for the main discussion I'd say just make it so you can mori someone after you have hooked all survivors AND have a total of 5 hooks would make it more usable/balanced.

This would also keep it inline with Devour hope which has similar(But less restrictive) requirements.

Yeah,i don't get how some people think that Moris are useless now and need to be buffed/changed again.

It's in an ok spot and as you said, offerings aren't supposed to drastically influence the games outcome

I would change Mori’s like this

Yellow mori would be base kit because once you sacrifice 3 people the game should reward you for killing 3 people with a mori

Green mori-once you hook all 4 survivors once you can mori one survivor

Red mori-once you hook all 4 survivors once you can mori all 4 survivors.

I think Moris are fine the way they are now, I always thought that moris were too powerful before the nerf. Now I think there perfect.

yet keys can break the game and you can find those in chests.

you even get wall hack add ons and add ons so you don't lose them

Moris were fun for exactly one person in the five person match.

Keys are fun for probably one person in the five person match, maybe more, but absolutely miserable for at least one.

    Both bad, nuke 'em.

    Remove Mori.

And let all killers can kill Surviver by their hand after first hook. This won't buff the Mori ;)

no leave moris the way they are now. Who enjoys getting tunneled off first hook?? uhh not me

Ok so... I'm sorry but this actually means nothing and it doesn't actually make it useful at all.

So what you're saying is I need 8 hooks right? So lets say I hook each survivor twice and now I've met the condition I can just mori them now. But wait... They're all on death hook anyways? It's the same conditions as it already is now.

Ok so let's say I hook 2 survivors 3 times and they're dead and out of the game and I've hooked the last 2 survivors once, now I can mori them... But this doesn't matter anymore... There's only 2 survivors left which means you did your job and the mori is now useless to even use at this point.

It'll still be the same even if you haven't hook 1 of the survivors. You basically just turned the Ebony Mori into a Cypress Mori.

If I had to make a change to mori's in general, I'd just make them basekit for all killers since you can only kill them on death hook giving the killer the option to hook or kill in a strategic way.

Maybe you'll wanna hook to use Pop or use BBQ to find the last survivor, or you can just straight up kill them instead of slugging them giving a second chance via unbreakable or pick up or to deny DS.

I would just make the Ebony Mori only activate once all survivors have been hooked once. This takes away the "tunneling" factor that was bitched about from the original nerfed Mori.

But I know full well that's not going to happen. they're committed to taking all the brutal edge out of this game now.

  • Lord_Tony
    Lord_Tony Member Posts: 2,109

they'll just DS you on first hook instead of death hook

    moris are literally useless

  • Dpooly
    Dpooly Member Posts: 474

Mori's were never intended to make a huge impact on the game, they were introduced as a cool death animation for flavor instead of the same ol' hook sacrifice animation. People just got too used to using them as an early game kill to immensely tip the scale in their favor. They are fine as they are now, they do what was initially intended. (Since someone is probably gonna start spewing whataboutism...Keys will be done eventually, they are more complicated than a simple number change.)

  • IWasLeft2Die
    IWasLeft2Die Member Posts: 2,405

1 hook moris are fine to me honestly. They do impact the game some yes but as they are now there is literally no reason to use them (you actually do worse in every way using them)

  • ukenicky
    ukenicky Member Posts: 1,352

I want to see more perks have the mori baked in like Rancor and Devour Hope.

Mori should also give you more BP/be equal to sacrificing a survivor for the rest of their hook states since it can often be a detriment on your Sacrifice category to kill them.

"Mori's were never intended to make a huge impact on the game,"

    Can you please source this?

Every ######### survivor main I have come across has told me moris were not intended to do this.

yet literally day 1 of their creation they were doing the exact opposite of what you claim

  • Dpooly
    Dpooly Member Posts: 474

@Lord_Tony I could, but considering your post history and the fact you wanna assume how I play, instead I'm gonna tell you to stop being an entitled baby. I play both sides evenly and quite frequently, mori's are in a good spot. Have a good day!

    KolbyKolbyKolby Member Posts: 624

bring old moris back but in exchange also give survivors an offering they can use so that if they get a gen 33% of the way complete, the can hit a skillcheck to insta complete it.

a pink rarity version would let them do this multiple times

that way both sides have an offering they can bring to skip 60% of their objective

  • Lord_Tony
    Lord_Tony Member Posts: 2,109

so you're not going to prove moris weren't suppose to be like this.

Offerings aren't meant to be terribly effective. They are not usually supposed to decidedly tip the scales in favor of one side in any significant manner, just a nice little added effect to slightly modify the game experience.

  • Lord_Tony
    Lord_Tony Member Posts: 2,109

and yet a key which can be found in a chest is effective at ending the game.

  • Lord_Tony
    Lord_Tony Member Posts: 2,109

make keys as useless as moris are now

@Lord_Tony No, you can research it yourself. Both Peanits and Almo have stated this in several threads

  • FrostySeal

Moris shouldn't provide any advantage whatsoever. They were meant to just be a way to get a cool looking kill animation, not as a way to give yourself a competitive advantage. Imagine if instead of being items keys were instead offerings, just imagine how incredibly broken that would be. Now Imagine a buffed ebony mori being used in conjuction with really strong addons and a strong build, and you've essentially won the game before it even started.

  • Firellius
    Firellius Member Posts: 4,528

Because a key is an item, not an offering.

If you want Moris to go back to what they were, the equivalent would be giving survivors offerings that reduce the required number of gens.

Imagine starting the game with the survivors only needing one gen. Yuck.

  • Northener1907
    Northener1907 Member Posts: 3,012

Mori & Keys are both strong. Mori was gave easy kills. Keys giving easy escape.

Mori nerfed so hard but keys are still strong. So it doesnt matter key is item or not. It is so op.

Just do what the community suggested at first. Make it after every survivors been hooked once. Prevents tunnel mori completly prevents camping mori as well. And makes moris actually powerful again.

I'm fine with mories beiing mostly cosmetic offering that has little actual impact on gameplay as long as they do the same to keys.

Unfortunately, keys are still busted when used by a good team and devs don't seem to care or put enough effort to fix them. It's been months since the mori nerfs and they still can't come up with a good way to fix keys.

Give it secondary Escape Cake effects to reward killers for running it.

Haddonfield isn't that bad, unless they've got balanced landing. Even then, it just extends chases by a bit.

I think the mori mechanic is fine as is. The only change it really needs is a bp boost. Moria shouldn't hurt your score. They should give you more bp. This would encourage it to happen more often, and we get to see the animations more often.

  • CheyeneKL
    CheyeneKL Member Posts: 723

Did you play early DBD? I probably would have defended moris vigorously back in the day of fast vaults no matter where you were at the window, double pallets at jungle gyms, literal god loops and god windows, old BNPs, etc.

Just cause moris were broken in the beginning doesn't mean they deserved to stay broken. Or else you'd have to give up your right to complain about broken survivor stuff. Survivor gameplay has gotten nerfed enough that moris getting nerfed is totally fair.

  • supersonic853
    supersonic853 Member Posts: 5,545

    Yellow Mori: basekit

Green Mori: become Yellow, you can Mori a survivor in EGC

Red Mori: become Purple, you can Mori a survivor after hook everyone once.
