Do you think casual players are ruining dbd?

It’s so embarrassing that this post has that many likes. ALL games operate because of casuals, yet they are still balanced for competitive play.

Slow update and poor balancing is hurting dbd. "Dont hate the player hate the game" springs to mind also "play civ maybe". I'm joking about the last quote (might be paraphrased) but a game like dbd needs more content updates and smarter balance changes. Anyone who says you can't balance for both casual and competitive play is lying to you because it can and has been done across many games.
Look up trickle down game balance if you are interested in seeing how this occurs. Note some killers will struggle with being balanced due to there kit being poorly designed im not going to argue nurse can be balanced but I will argue that a lot of the killers in the rooster can recieve the changes they need to be more powerful thats only accessible if the player plays well.

The game needs training mode like mobile version has. Sadly this game throws you in at the deep end and most people get a bad taste of playing killer due to matchmaking being absolutely fantastic. Starting off as playing survivor generally leads to instant death because most people just run in a straight line, or panic. There is absolutely nothing in terms of teaching you the basics of looping etc. My friend got this free on PS plus when it came out, played 3 games and deleted.

Do I think the breathtakingly significant majority of the playerbase is ruining the game?
No. Honestly, I think it's the people that play random trials like they're for money and only find fun in winning that are ruining the experience. I wanna play Dead By Daylight, not Genrush Central or Spirit Fun Time.

Nah. I don't even think the 'balance' issues that are tossed around here are all that acute. I've been playing for a couple years, maybe three? Multiple platforms. And honestly, I feel the game is better and more fun now than when I started playing. The devs make good changes, and then sometimes they make not so good changes. But I don't feel that any of those changes have tilted the game so far toward one end or the other that it makes the game unplayable or un-'winnable'(whatever that means)for the other 'side'.
If I have one complaint about 'casuals'(and I consider myself one of them, really)it's that they tend to come in cold and just do their thing, rather than spending a little time learning about the game, watching some vids and guides that will help them contribute better. It makes them a liability to the team, and they tend to get frustrated and DC and/or quit the game. Doesn't have to be a lot of time or effort invested, no need for anyone to become a tryhard, just some effort in learning the 'ins and outs', smart moves from dumb moves, how to determine your play style and what sorts of perk builds will complement that, etc.

i think the community is killing DBD

The people who play this game like their life depends on it are what makes this game hard to enjoy at times. The people that’ll message you to say they hope your parents die. THOSE PEOPLE are what’s wrong with this game. Not the casual gamers who are playing to try to have fun.

Yeah those people are terrible. I honestly feel like I see that from more casual players. Casual in the sense of people who don't play all that much. More veteran players, from my experience, are more understanding when things don't go their way. I could be totally wrong though.
Personally I view casual players as those who don't play as often and just pick up the game every so often not so much if someone is competitive or not. Both casual players should still have fun and be accounted for in the game one way or another but the more occasional player shouldn't have as much influence on a games balance imo
(Jusy to clarify being casual is totally fine and I'm in no way trying to talk down to casual players)

I’m a veteran player but I would still say I’m a casual player. I want to win, but I’m not a complete sweat who has to stack every second chance perk on top of each other, bring strong items and burn map offerings to win. And then when I don’t win, go off on a tirade. They’re the players I was referring to. It’s not really about being a veteran or not.
I’ve been playing for almost 5 years now, so I have plenty of experience. But for some people, DBD and gaming in general is their life. They act as though you’re personally hurting them when you hit / hook their survivor. It’s ridiculous.
I personally enjoy playing with perks I find fun to use, not ones that necessarily make the game easier for me. I find it more satisfying escaping chases and surviving trials without Dead Hard etc. Whereas a lot of players bring every second chance perk they can think of and when they win, sit in the exit gate waiting to taunt the killer. Those types of sweats are who make the game less fun.

To further clarify. Another reason I class myself as a casual gamer is because I can go through big phases of not playing this game or any game at all. I don’t invest all of my time into DBD or any game for that matter, which I know some people do. I’ve seen a lot of PlayStation players with profiles dedicated entirely to DBD which leads me to believe they don’t play any other games, or at least any other multiplayer game. Which isn’t me at all. DBD is just another game I play when I have the time or feel in the mindset to play.

Yeah id put myself in a similar category but would just say I'm non competitive gamer but that's just an argument over semantics. Yeah the ultra competitive players just don't make the game very fun either imo

Not everyone in dbd has to be sweaty and competitive BUT I think we still need a good MMR.

If by casual player you mean the buttheads who rage quit (DC) while I am playing solo survivor because they got downed first then yes.

What do you define as casual? I have a family so I play maybe a few hours a week. If you are new and dc, then yes you are making game worse. Survivors won't be able to win in most cases of a dc and killers lose points overall because they decided to dc on first hook.
I think survivor is designed for casual and play with friends due to nature of skill checks. Killer not so much. You need to invest a good amount of time just to get decent as killer. I don't think casual killers who get bullied Will continue to play, which in turns hurts survivor queue.

Players aren't running the game. I don't see a problem with someone wanting to play in a casual or competitive way.
I think the issue is only being one available game mode, which mix casual and competitive players, both having different views on what "fun" is.

The absolute amazing power we hold to run a game into the ground by simply pressing a button at the title screen to start the game is frightening

Pretty much

BHVR needs to spend less time nerfing bad perks and more time developing a tutorial that TEACHES people how to play the game. They could definitely create a tutorial that shows survivors and killers how to run loops and use pallets. This game doesn’t teach; it requires you to bang your head against a wall for hours before you know what you’re doing.

Yep. I was leading a Huntress on a chase this morning, only to hear repetitive screaming over and over from a console Elodie who found it more fun to giggle at Iron Maiden than do gens. Gave myself up on a hook. And this is in the red ranks (at least me).

casuals aren't ruining DBD
balance team balancing the game around rank 20 survivors is ruining DBD and making SWF steam roll killers.
