Ideas to make tome less predatory.

The tome costs 10 dollars. There are various rewards, but by the time tone is fone most people who havent spent money are teirs 30-50( dependant on playtime. Tome could take roughly 200 hours of games plus the tome challenges if you really want teir 70.

I think every 15 teirs on the free side of the battle pass and at teir 70, you could earn 50 auric cells so you could either save up for later tomes or just grab some bonus auric cells to spend when a sale is going on or something. Also, i think challenges are fine in their current state. However, i do think the tome should be 100 days(around 3 mknths and 10 days) so that you have more time to catch the rewards before they are gone.i also think if you complete a charecters entire story and watch the video at the end of the story you should receive 5 fragments.

I would love for it to be open longer ;_; I'm a filthy casual and don't have much time to play during the week.

Its a leak, nothing we are supposed to discuss on forums

It literally is a participation award -- the only thing you have to do to make progress is play.

I also don't think its primary purpose is to encourage people to play more. I think the primary purpose is to get $10 from people on a semi-regular schedule, with the idea that most of them won't play enough to earn the whole $10 back, and/or they'll pay to advance through the tiers because they really want one of the rewards.

However, if it were easier for me to complete the rift, I'd be more likely to drop $10 in, personally, and then spend the cash-back on another skin. So, they're missing out on money from people like me by making it so tedious, but they may be making more money over all. IDK.

The problem is the difference in perceived value between BHVR and players.

Players: "If I don't complete the entire rift, I haven't got my monies worth, so it's a scam."

BHVR: "There's five full outfits in this rift plus 1000 auric cells, all of which would usually cost about $50 in the store, but you can get it all for a huge discount by completing the rift. Even if you only complete half of the rift, you've still saved a relative 50-60% off the 'retail price' when these outfits eventually end up in the store."

It isn't a participation award because you need to sink a lot of time and effort into completing the rift, but if we make it so people who play 5h per week, tops, also get rewarded then what's the point?

Also, DBD's Rift is more rewarding then anyother battle pass I've seen. By completing one you can immediately purchase the next one with the Auric Cells you earn. I haven't spent any money on Rifts since the 1st :p

Ughhh theres fortnites battle pass system and lots of others better than this one. They give free premium currency AND lots of rewards. And no, i dont play fortnite. I just know its rewarding fir people who play everyday. Also, whats the deal with this 5 hours a week thing? Itd still take a long time.

No. It’s not reasonable that the devs should just give “free money” on the free rift.

    Just no.

The rift ONLY has cosmetic rewards and charm rewards, so there is nothing predatory about it because there is NO “pay to win” involved in the rift.

Which again isn’t required to improve gameplay, or increase odds of winning. It’s JUST cosmetics and charms. If someone doesn’t finish a rift, that is the ONLY thing they’re missing out on: remaining charms and cosmetics.

I mean, fortnite's battlepass is like that as well and you also get bonus currencie by completing it.

What does skill have to do with a battle pass? I never said that. Also, most of those cosmwtics dont return for another 1 to 2 years.

In what capacity is it deeply important, or life changing whether you (or anybody else) misses out on particular cosmetics or charms because they didn’t complete the rift?!?!

My entire point with each of my responses has been “so what if the rift isn’t completed?”

The rewards are “nice to have”, not essential. It’s nice to finish a rift, but it’s not game changing, and it really shouldn’t matter if it WASN’T finished by a player.

Some people here really to think about their priorities in life.

So, if you have to participate a lot, it stops being a reward for participation? ;)

There's a middle ground between saying that either minimal participation has to be enough for all the rewards or that the current grind is reasonable. I think the current number of hours you have to put in is too high, but I don't know what the reasonable amount would be.

The current grind is completely unreasonable. I've put almost 100 hours into the game this tome and I got less than halfway through with actively doing challenges constantly. Maybe if there were less frankly nonsensical challenges that require the stars to align to even hope to get them done it would be a little less obnoxious, but having to put in potentially hundreds of hours for one season of a battlepass is nonsensical. Every other game I've played it takes ~50-70 hours of play to max out a season, which is still a ton but makes sense for the people who play the game a ton (which is who these passes are geared towards)

So youre putting words in my mouth saying im gonna miss part of my life for cosmetics? What a great counterargument buddy. Would you like to spend a qaurter of a thousand hours non stop playing the same game over and over eith mostly hard challenges? I just dont think its very fun to play the same game all day every day. I mean, your argument about the 5 hours a werk vs 5 hours a day is worthless. As long as you spend at least 15 hours doing challenges in dbd every week+ keep playing to get xp frags, i think you should still be getting rewarded. Its not really that fine with people who have more important things to do and lost 10 dollars for it. Thats pretty greedy. Oh , burn me in a furnace, i want people who paid for the battlepass have their money worth of it. What have i done? Maybe i should uninstall.

It is not BHVR’s responsibility if players choose to pay for something that they don’t have the time to invest in.

A player can choose to do the free rift, see how far they get, THEN choose to pay for the rift to unlock the paid rewards up until the currently earned tier.

    Or not.

No reward on the rift is essential.

I never said anything on it was essential. Hut you know what is bhvrs responsibility? Keeping their game alive. Obviously, theyve been slacking. Making tome less grindy is good for health. Grind is bad. This game is very grindy in any sense, whether it be leveling, looking fir a perk, looking fir an item, etc.

There’s nothing grindy about this game at all, because no perk, item, offering, cosmetic, or charm is essential in winning. All of those things can be ignored and the game is still playable.

Too many people put too much emphasis on unlocking everything, stuff they’ll probably never use.

There you go, you said yourself.

“Want”, not “need”. No one thing is NEEDED from the rift or the bloodweb in order to do well in this game.

People cant complain about a grind they CHOOSE to engage in.

God ######### damnitt dude, your drifting off into the same thing as a defensive argument. Maybe id be fine with the grind if you receive more than enough to buy 8 yellow items every game. Everybody knows this game is grindy, especially people like space coconut.
