Interview Series episode 5: supersonic853
With continuous support and viewing we move on to @supersonic853 to learn his views and believed best direction for the game. And for those unaware since I received a complaint I always start off with the simple questions. So then we can focus on trickier questions without an odd simple question in between.
1. How'd you discover the game?
2. What's your platform?
3. How'd you come up with the name supersonic853?

Another great interview to read.

1. Despite how unhealthy it sounds i lost someone dear to me so i looked to gaming as a outlet to help me feel better. Someone pointed me to this game in like early 2017 and i decided to give it a whirl. I owe this game for helping me get through my depression so ive stuck with it.
2. Console but i have a pc i built a year ago just waiting for cross progression.
3. I grew up on playing sonic games because my parents didn't know how to parent. Loved the song "supersonic" so i made it my name.
12 -
Huzzah!!
4 -
Loving all of these ^^
5 -
Hey it's cool people have ways to cope.
4. Which side do you main?
5. Of that side which character/s do you main ?
6 -
4. Pure 50/50 did start with survivor though to play with older friends.
5. Killer i don't think ive found mine yet surprisingly, i used to main billy (yeah i was a og lol) but now i find myself mostly playing doctor. Survivor: meg. I loved sprint burst for some reason when i started.
5 -
Awwwww helllll yeah brother, another interview.
Looks like I get join @Beelzeboop in upvoting everyone.

R A N G ?

6. Favorite perk both sides?
7. Least favorite perk both sides?
8. Favorite map/realm both sides?
9. Least favorite map/realm both sides?
6 -
Indeed I did.
3 -
that makes two of us
5 -
The more the merrier!
4 -
6. Killer: distressing, making your tr large can help in a lot of cases, especially doctor. Also helps for gettign bp in deviousness quicker.
Survivor: detectives hunch, hands down. Gets rid of totems, helps me find what gen to work on next, and helps me find chests. Its buff a while ago made it so good.
7. Killer: insidious. No perk should encourage camping and it used to counter the anti camp perk.
Survivor: Vigil. Kinda useless in most cases and not worth a perk slot.
8. You know it, coal tower. Balanced both ways.
9. Midwich honestly even though i crap on haddonfield a lot. Holding w isnt fun for either side. Slowly following a survivor or being followed for a minute before chase happens isn't fun.
5 -
Have fun, i am reading :)
And also i cant wait for Sluzzy and Lord Tony.

10. Favorite killer to face?
11. Least favorite killer to face?
12. Favorite survivor to face?
13. Least favorite survivor to face?
7 -
Thank goodness someone knows Detectives Hunch is amazing.
5 -
Gooooood luck!

10. A good billy (a forgotten race) every loop is a mindgame of equal skill and when he downs you he actually deserved it.
11. Spirit. They equip stridor. Smack you. Take all your power away and down you 15 seconds later for what? Using headphones.
12. I love ash's personally. Pretty selfless from mom. And when MoM procs i can't even be mad.
13? (You had 14 on yours). Claudettes. Especially on darker maps (not racist) i don't like having to play hide and go seek for 10 minutes. And we cant up brightness on console.
4 -
Thanks for the correction.
14. Now we move to balance and such you mentioned how Hillbillies have been near non existent since the nerf myself one of the few left. Do you believe the reason people left is the overheat? Or was it the add-on nerfs and need for more precision making him less desirable for casual players?
5 -
14. Oh some people DEFINITELY played billy just to abuse crack and instasaw. Thats just competitive nature. Their probably on spirit now. The overheat and pov change killed him for the main billys though. Down a survivor chainsaw across the map, break a pallet. Overheat. Not fun. Precision was a big thing on old billy as well (he was definitely more forgiving though) i would say in most cases though current billy requires the same as old so i don't feel it was as big of a factor.

15. Do you believe the devs had some justification in their decision to nerf Hillbilly? Or were they wrong in their attempt to have other killers played more?
5 -
15. Honestly i felt the meta woulda shifted a bit after just the addon pass if they didn't have the overheat with the introduction of oni and other killers becoming better alittle later on. I doubt billy would be one of the best even if the overheat wasnt added. Definitely sent him flying downward though. Pretty sure their reason was a dev got killed by a crackbilly instantly rounding a corner and hitting him down. Which was the addons fault. Thats just heresay though.
4 -
16. You also criticized Spirit above. Many say all you need with Spirit is Stridor and good headphones. What can be done to make Spirit more balanced and more enjoyable? Without making her weak?
3 -
16. Every killer (besides nurse) gives you a chance to respond in most ways. Spirit gives you nothing as she turns invisible and can pop up silently beside you and smack you. Any givence of counterplay would be nice for me. There was a bug you could hear her breathing which gave her alittle counterplay. (I know a lot of people said it killed her) but imo they coulda tested with that. ALSO GIVE HER A TELL WHEN SHES PHASING BECAUSE IF I GET ONE MORE STAND STILL SPIRIT I SWEAR TO GO-
3 -
17. Do you think anyone other killers are in need of a major change because they're too strong? Or need something to be more enjoyable? Despite being considered balanced
3 -
This’ll be fun to read *monches popcorn*
3 -
Not really as besides spirit and nurse most killers i don't find overpowered as like i said they have checks and balances that make them more of a fairer match. Deathslinger and pyramid for instance are strong in the 1v1 but they cant cross the map in 10 seconds. Only real reason i don't attack nurse is at least she has a high skill cap (and shes the only one who can compete with tournament swfs). Honestly most killers are actually to weak in the higher level. In moderate red though id say things are quite alright.
3 -
18. You mention how only Nurse can compete with the best SWF. Many say we should balance around the best players. That many changes pander to the casual players. Despite the fact the majority of players are casual and the devs seem to believe this and some have pointed many loops are now easier for casual players to accomplish. Do you believe we should balance around the top tier competitive players or around the majority casual players?
3 -
18. Id definitely say a middle ground needs to be achieved. Solos are to weak swf is to strong. But if you do what most people have said and make solos of a more equal level. Definitely making loops easier for new survivors is nice but then that god survivor can run that loop six ways from sunday . We've seen this in tourneys so many times that any killer besides spirit or nurse just camp out for SOME points. Id say if solos were on a mostly equal level of swf and we balanced killers and maps accordingly we might not need nurse or spirit or some loops to be as powerful. And youd finally see a michael for instance LEGITIMATELY in a tourney for the first time in years. Or not the same meta builds.
2 -
19. The map reworks have seemingly been torn from both sides. Killers complain about stealth and breakable walls. While survivors complain about dead zones and totem spawns. Do you believe the maps changes have overall been good for the game or skewing the odds to one of the sides? And does the Coldwind wind change look good graphically and gameplay?
3 -
19. So far in most cases i wasnt impressed on the first remastered maps as they made infinites in some cases (groaning) and did like nothing in others (coal towers top). And the game for instance is horribly sided toward survivor right now. Definitely they are pretty bad mostly for most sides. But coldwind so far looks pretty good the breakable walls are lessend and not forced to be broken. It does ruin stealth a bit though.
2 -
20. Do you have high hopes for the remaining maps to be reworked Red Forest, Haddonfield, Backwater Swamp, and possibly Hawkins?
3 -
20. With their track record...idk if i trust them with haddonfield to not make it worse. But red forest back water and hawkins might not be to bad. Better not make Backwater even darker though we don't need another autohaven.
2 -
21. Do you believe the devs should consider going back to the maps and give them more changes?
4 -
21. Definitely, they need to revisit some bws and pallet spawns on like the game. (I think theres a godpallet that blocks a whole hallway?). And groaning storehouse spawns a godpallet again which needs to be removed AGAIN. Most other maps just need slight changes imo. Autohaven seems fairly balanced but the lighting is horrid for instance. But only 2 of the maps probably need big changes which is groaning and the game.

22. The biggest chapter ever is coming to DBD. Many see this as chance for behavior to redeem themselves after a few disappointments in a row. Do you believe behave will do this chapter well like the last anniversary or break us once more?
3 -
22. Oh this chapter will be probably lit. They always put on their big boy pants during the anniversary (wish they did that all the time but whatever) plus its resident evil like thisll be bigger than Silent Hill probably. Definitely my hopes are there.
3 -
23. What do you expect the format of the chapter to be like multiple maps, survivors, killers?
3 -
23. A double killer would be interesting for the first time but probably doubtful. 2 survivors,1 killer ,1 map is my guess.
3 -
24. On the issue of perks the devs have made a few more useful and at the moment it seems Open Handed and Lucky Break will be more common. But the majority are still awful and likely at least a few are bound to happen for the anniversary. Do you believe the devs should be changing underwhelming perks every chapter? And are there a certain group of perks they should prioritize?
3 -
24. Definitely older perks should be getting updates (which they slowly are) they definitely should keep updating the older perks for instance monstrous shrine hasnt changed since 2016. And oh god it shows. And chapters are the easiest time to do it. And nah i don't think they need to prioritize certain ones. Edit: Actually probably older perks first they need it the most.

25. Huntress add-ons were recently changed it got rid of the dreaded combo of Iri Head and Infantry Belt. And the last exhaustion add-on got reduced to five seconds. Do you think the devs made her add-ons balanced but still viable unlike others?
2 -
25. Iri head they coulda just fixed by giving it a range requirement. They killed it and made a very bad secondary iridescent that rewards you for having no hatchets. Other than that her others seem good. I woulda reworked the exhaustion one because 5 seconds is mostly worthless. The others are fine.
2 -
26. Do you believe the buffs Demogorgon received will boost his play count and viability?
2 -
26. On the ptb i woulda said no. But since they further buffed his shred which was his main chase tool i feel he will be amazing. Definitely better. And his addons have some good synergy.
2 -
27. The devs also nerfed Twins do you belt this will counter what the devs call their slugging issue? Or does this fail to solve their core issues?
2 -
28. Nerfing them to prevent the slugging just really kills the character. The only reason they slug and camp is the characters ######### for lack of a better term. They lack in a lot of things and need to play cheesy to even have a fair chance. Buff charolette so they don't need to slug and stop beating around the bush by just punishing them for doing the one thing they have to do. Their core issue is charollete sucks for lack of a better term and victor is the main pressure tool they have. If we buff charolette and make both parts more appealing then we can fix the slugging and camping issue.
2 -
29. There have been a plethora of work changes major ones being Lucky Break, Borrowed Time, Open Handed, and Object of Obsession. Do you believe these were good perks changes or are in need of further changes?
1 -
29. Lucky break was to far im sure we can all agree on that. Smack a survivor recover from cleaning your blade and their just gone. Open-handed they just need to bring back kindreds hard cap of 24 meters and i think itll be fine. Object...######### yes! The perks been so stupid for so long giving a entire team wallhacks via one guy on a gen halfway across the map. Also is a great info tool now to test for like bbq. Borrowed...is very controversial i know that for sure. A lot of people will argue its cheesy at the endgame. Which it is. But id say the buff was necessary. Freddy for instance could proxy camp a hook and smack anyone who went for the rescue to force a tunnel. Bubbas camping with insdious. Ghostfaces hiding around corners stealthed. Wraiths camping while invisible. Its definitely a good decision to fix. Does it need its more abusive side looked at? Yeah it does, ive always been okay with making it so the enduranced survivor loses collision so they cant just bodyblock their teammate. Also making borrowed deactivate when going for unhooks for instance. Since weve all seen borrowed into borrowed over and over.
