Otz has recently made a 50 win streak with Billy, and even he expressed the thought of many people that while his current form is not necessarily weak, he became way less fun and straight up irritating to play; he's a shadow of his former self.
This video is a good demonstration of how much Billy has basically been outclassed by the competition and even a competent Bubba can perform as good if not even better, which is just...wrong
You should NOT make a game where you have easy to play/high reward and hard to play/low reward characters, that's just completely dumb and backwards logic.
So, will people here say that this guy lost because he's another boosted player or the truth is simply that even the old base kit Billy was never great, and you kinda needed help with some strong add-ons against competent teams.
If you still insist that you can effortlessy win with Billy and his new add-ons are fine because he doesn't need anything, i don't know what to tell you, you are not worth arguing with.
It's also very funny how Huntress remained essentially the same with her add-on pass, but whoever was in charge of nerfing Billy somehow thought he needed all of this. It takes some real effort to make nobody want to play a killer that comes free with the base game with such a fun and expressive power.
The overheat is a stupid mechanic that completely disregards why many people loved played Billy in the first place.
It might not be his biggest issue if you play "normally", but it needlessly extra punishes people using Engravings (especially double Engravings) and other fun builds like drift king.
It was announced that his annoying buggy animations will get fixed, which is a good step forward but it will not be enough.
Overheat, roar (survivors don't need an indication that you're coming and it doesn't even make sense with his stealth add-ons) and add-ons 100% need addressing.
But who am i kidding, it will probably take another hundred years for that to happen if not at all.

Fact is his add ons needed a nerf. Overheat is debatable

The addons we got in their place was pretty bad. Engravings literally just have the side effect of "you will overheat" we wouldnt need the overheat addons if overheat actually wasn't so punishing. Meanwhile bubba overhere chainsawing from 25 meters away and still downing survivors because of purple chilli and engravings. Not to mention stacking up billys addons to onis. Oni wins. Topknot alone is better than anything billy has lol.

This billy made a very...questionable loadout with Lopros chains and Death Markings
Along with this, he made alot of mistakes and went for the skillshots at pallets way too often
The bubba however is the complete opposite, and he made little to no mistakes (He actually looks kinda scary to face)
Nevertheless, I will not try to agree or disagree until I see a match where the billy makes little to no mistakes

Tbh top knot is literally insta saw in one add on which is just OP as hell.
He has some good add ons at the moment. Lopro chains are a great addition and the brick muffler combo is pretty fun.
I just wish they didn’t go through with the nerf after the PTB. Completely unnecessary

The bubba was smart and hooked someone in the middle of the map and camped and was able to patrol gens and ruin at the same time. All it showed is that you struggle a lot more to win by playing nice.

The roar alone is enough to make me not play him anymore. It simply annoys me to hear it 50 times (exaggerated) in one trial.
Strangely I have no problem with nurses screech, doctors laugh or even demos roar. Clowns coughing and the voices during corrupt purge on plague are also irritating but not to the degree of billy.

There's a difference between nerfing and completely removing them.
How broken were old Spark Plug and Primer Bulb that they needed to be raised in rarity and reworked in non sense like Mother's Helpers and Tuned Carburetor.

Easily one of the worst balance decisions I've ever seen. The only "OP" thing about Old Billy was Insta-Saw, and even that is debatable.
The Overheat mechanic must go.

Mothers helpers actually are pretty decent. Just run enduring and don’t respect pallets.
But yes spark plug and primer bulb were broken.what killer has a charge time add on that isn’t top tier?

I have no problem with the changes to billy, however, I think all this does is prove that bubba was over buffed just a little. I realized this recently because I used to be crap as bubba. But I was recently playing him and was doing really well. Bubba feels to easy to be good with for a killer that has a 1 hit mechanic built into his base kit.

The irony is when they were speaking about billy they even said "we consider billy one of the most balanced killers so we are only planning slight changes." then they murder him. Meanwhile huntress got nothing but a addon pass. If they really needed the overheat shoulda kept the ptb one.

What if don't want to? It's a green man, i shouldn't need a perk to make an add-on work. It doesn't even activate if you break a pallet with the chainsaw.
On top of that, they also nerfed Billy's sinergy with Enduring since you can't still maintain your charge after being stunned anymore.

If you don’t want to run enduring don’t run the add on. Charge time add ons need huge activation requirements since it’s so integral to how billy is countered effectively
He’s still really good with enduring anyway. That probably wasn’t intended

He requires so much work for a reward that Bubba can get 100 times easier. On top of that they didn't do anything to address the clunky animations yet, and the grating chainsaw sounds, the dumb roar and the overheat were just the icing on top of this trash heap of a cake. His extra mobility only means something on large maps like red forest, and even then he can't stop loops NEARLY as good as bubba can which is a lot more valuable. He's probably a bit better than Bubba addon-less but definitely worse imo when you take into account their best add-ons.

The billy in otz video never overheated. I don't think overheat is the issue with billy right now.

Really? I can go into a match down a survivor chainsaw across map and break a pallet with it and overheat. Guess i abused the chainsaw by doing 3 things? Then slap engravings on there you get like one chainsaw then ya overheat. (The billy in the video managed the saw decently but you could see in some cases he didnt use it because he was afraid of overheating) and i think he does actually overheat once id have to recheck. Either way its just another thing on top of the other stuff they did to him.

Im not a billy main so can someone please explain to me why overheat is so bad? The only thing it seems to prevent is billy just looping you with the chainsaw reved until he gets in point blank range.
And if you think billy got screwed look at nurse. Shes still the best killer in the game but playing her is so damn frustrating with all her bugs.

Down a survivor, chainsaw cross map, break a pallet with it. Thats a overheat. Use 2 engravings. Chainsaw more than once. Thats a overheat. Want to run around a loop while revving your chainsaw for the right moment? Thats probably a overheat. Meanwhile bubba can eat pallets run through loops while chainsaw dashing and down multiple survivors. He's just the better option. Especially near late game when most of the pallets are gone and you have bamboozle he becomes a menace. Sure billy can cross map. But thats nothing compared to being a m1 killer in most loops. Youd want bubba because being fast is nothing compared to deading survivors.

It was funny when they said "Billy is in a good place, he is fine as is" and then straight up nerfed him with mostly garbage add ons and a stupid, unnecessary cooldown just for the sake of it.
So since then I'm sceptical about every killer rework they're doing.

it’s just an unfun mechanic that makes you look at some dumb little red bar, it does nothing but add tedium to an already janky and frustrating killer

1 match on each side isn't really enough to say, although I generally agree. I never played billy much before except for dailies etc, and he was kind of fun but playing him afterwards just feels sluggish and unpleasant. It's not even the overheat (although micromanagement isn't exactly fun and it makes little sense, spamming and missing chainsaws already punished itself)
I'm happy to play bubba though. Billy is way more effort for way less reward. Billy's still the more fun to play against, not that I see him much. Also I really didn't want to see the licenced chainsaw killer gain this much ground over the free chainsaw killer, for obvious reasons.
I've supported pretty much every killer change whether it's a buff or nerf, or at least I got the thinking behind it. The billy nerf (addons aside) is still partly an "according to the statistics" brainfart and partly a cynical attempt to get people to shell out on bubba and oni and it should be reverted.

I got Adept Billy last night, and I was able to down a whole group in matter of minutes. But I do agree Bubba is better, the only reason i was able to win as Billy was because I'm a Blight main and I'm really good at blight but that's it. I do think He didn't deserve to be gutted to such a degree,

Basically, Billy's addons got wrecked with no benefit added to his basekit and Bubba's chainsaw became unavoidable death.

I agree. Billy isn't impossible to play, but he is super damn annoying and stressful to play as now. If you want to completely avoid doing cool plays to prevent Overheat, then he's pretty much old Bubba with mobility. I'm hoping his Overheat gets removed orrrr reworked. Like, it's supposed to discourage camping, right? Make it only activate when revving, and make the Overheat go down during a chainsaw sprint, and bam, Billy is fun again!

It's a purple addon, there shouldn't be a downside. Especially since it would no longer stack, which was the real issue.

The effect is really powerful though. No add on should have such an impact on a killers kit. For example most people can agree that scalped top knot and to a lesser extent rubbing oil are OP
All this would lead to is inexperienced Billy’s becoming reliant on it

I just miss playing against Billy.
The last time i remember going against a good curve Billy was on Mothers Dwelling like half a year ago.That match was so fun but you don't see those Billy players anymore,which makes me sad :(

A good Billy is still terrifying and fun to face.
The aspects that make him frustrating to play were there before the overheat mechanic; overheating is a negligible mechanic (and i don't think it was necessary) that really doesn't do anything but stop him forever revving tot keep someone in a corner.
The new add-ons are meh. Some fun ones, and a couple of great ones, but nothing majorly oppressive like he had before.

Honestly im on the boat addons shouldnt need like huge downsides. Thats why people hate the iri head rework. Great you got one hatchet....when ya coulda just made it long range and keep the stacking. If your afraid of a addon being overpowered with no downside (being another topknot) maybe tweak some numbers? Addons are supposed to mostly help the killer and having addons that have huge downsides with some little upsides is just horrible addon design. Thats why the best iris is the ones with no downsides mostly rn. Apex muffler for instance is up there.

It's strong, but not that strong. Primer Bulb by itself wasn't too bad to face. When it was stacked with Tuning Guide is when it was broken.

I think the No-sleep (never sleep?) pils are really good; run enduring, let the survivor stun you, shorter charge time. Pretty good, imo and much more fair than the previous combo. I've used them to great effect.
