Grabs really need to be fixed.
to make a long story short, I went up against a bully squad. I was prepared for it and accepted it. so I'm not angry in the least about that. I even still pipped with no kills so.
However in this match there were 3 separate times that I went for a grab and the game decided; nope you're going to swing instead meaning they both get away.
before anyone says anything, I wasn't camping, the team just decided to take the person off the hook 2 seconds after I put them on. or stood there as I was doing it, so I know what their plan was.
Grabbing is a core game mechanic, heck they even have archive challenges that ask you to do it three times.
Grabs have been broken for quite a while we all know this I'm just throwing my voice into the please fix grabs pile.
Had they worked like they were supposed to I would have had a better chance against a group of people whos soul goal was to make me rage quit. which I didn't.

For some reason the devs think it's a valid game mechanic to have survivors cancel animations so the killer can't grab. If you're unhooking, you shouldn't be able to stop doing so. Same as how the killer can't stop breaking a pallet or stop hooking. But doing some infinite clicky clicky on the hooked survivor so the killer just hits instead of grabbing is fine in their heads.

I guess it's the same attitude as; survivors can unhook from any side of the hook so killers can't stop them from unhooking but survivors being in front of the hook to prevent the hook prompt from coming up since a killer can only hook from the front is fine.

I haven't had a problem with grabs in a awhile, then again they are rare without stealth killers. But most of the time my grabs get cancelled because the game says so i guess, it is when a survivor is on a generator. Windows and other vaults work fine, for me, but pulling one off of a generator only to get it cancelled is just very aggravating.
Grabs are a vital mechanic that reward crafty killers, or punish greedy/unaware survivors.

I hate that grabs are so broken. It drives me nuts when the killer gets stuck with his hand out and it lets the survivor finish the gen or rescue their teammate off the hook. Dude, they weren't even halfway through the unhook animation and they didn't stop and restart, why am I the one being punished??
The least the devs could do is fix it so that if the grab doesn't go through then the killer gets a hit in, instead. But right now, killers just get 100% screwed when a grab doesn't complete.

Grabs are fine. It's the dollar store servers they have that are cucking the grabs.

At least this doesn't happen with every grab, imagine getting denied something (nearly) every single time aka fake hits on a Survivor. It does suck as The Killer, I've seen my killer grab and even the scream go off but then it pauses and they start running off. I could be very wrong but I remember reading that basic and special attacks are killer sided but all other interactions like grabs are server-sided. If that's accurate, then it's the same pain as Survivors getting fake hits. The game already favors The Killer's perspective and actions in hits, it doesn't also have to with grabs. Imagine all of the fake grabs and how painful that would be for Survivors. In fact, I have experienced some sus grabs from miles away, like vaulting and landing and sprinting then your character teleports back to the pallet to get grabbed lol

Agree but sadly since we are just killers complaining about it nothing will happen. Just as Legion rework, key nerf, spirit sounds or any other things that are requested for way too long. Sure some things came finally like D strike nerf but these things happen just WAAAY too slow.

Gen and locker grabs are the most affected and yea its sucks. The way to fix it is really easy tho, just make it so the survivor leaves their hitbox for a few miliseconds behind to compensate for the server latency just like in window vaults and pallets vaults and there you go grabs fixed in general. But it's doesn't look that they will do something about it, its been here since the dedicated servers that was a year ago? So..

I want them to add a perk that makes survivors exposed while preforming some of the actions that they can be grabbed from.

About "fake hits", the only time I've seen it happen was when playing on EU while being in NA East, meaning I have 90-110ms ping. On NA East I have about 40ping and it's so ######### rare when a hit is kinda far yet still hit me. The thing is weapon hit box are bigger than the weapon & survivor hit box are bigger than survivor skin misleading many survivor main to think hit shouldn't connect.

I usually get 15 to 20, but the fake hits have nothing to do with the hit boxes. Devs have said it has to do with the latency, specifically what The Killer sees and what you actually see and the discrepancy between the two. From what I understand and remember about it, if The Killer strikes and on their screen you're still in the middle of the vault animation, the hit will connect even when the survivor sees they've already successfully completed the vault. They call it favor the killer. Otherwise you would see killers complaining that they're physically striking a survivor and the hit connects but it doesn't actually do anything. Which is what happens to a lot of survivors, you get struck even when you're too far away or already completed the animation safely. Hit validation is supposed to mitigate this, especially people with significant ping but it still doesn't close the gap enough. Imo The Killer is still favored too heavily, I don't think validation is strict enough. I think they went from allowing killers with 500+ ms ping to always prevail with hits, to limiting that to maybe 300? Whatever the figure is, it's still too generous.

Yeah I know it's the ping but from experience I know sometime survivor complain about hit that didn't connect on their end when it was just a hitbox thing like with Freddy. His hitbox is way bigger than his hand+ping make it look even worst.

Yes, they need fixing.
Often when I go into the grabbing animation, it pauses.
Nothing serious, just a little stutter; but then the Survivor slips off to the side and runs away. It doesn't even register as a basic attack hit.

Theoretically, if 1 survivor is going to unhook another survivor, a good killer is guaranteed to grab them. But in reality, because the game lags and takes away the grabs, it allows the survivors to rescue their teammate when they clearly should have got grabbed. This is why endgame, especially against swf is so frustrating. You earned that kill but the game took away your grab so you get to walk away with absolutely nothing. Fair and balanced I guess.

especially if they're gonna keep putting in grab challenges into the archives, to this day the only killer challenge i've yet to complete in any tome was the get 2 grabs while using discordance in a single game
