Why is Slugging considered scummy?
I don't understand. If i hook you its going to kill you much faster. Slugging is a slower form of hooks and you can be slugged many more times than being hooked. I don't get it. I would rather be slugged over and over and over than to be tunneled and hooked 3 times.

Slugging is usually only considered scummy when you do it as bm by waiting for the person to bleed out or if you slug everyone at 5 gens as someone like Nurse or Oni. Often times though cases like these are the survivors' fault for not splitting up. Oh and slugging for the 4k is also considered scummy by some.

Slugging at 5 gens with Oni is toxic? what that literally just the Oni playing well.

Correct.

I'm fine with slugging. It's a legitimate strategy that the survivors can counter.
However I find it scummy when you do it to be rude and leave the survivors on the ground for long periods of time. At that point your being toxic.
5 -
It's only toxic if you do it toward the beginning of a match for no reason, or leave the last survivor to bleed out just to waste their time

I get thats how people feel but if there are survivors running in the killers face after he gets the down why wouldn't the killer chase after them?

They consider it scummy because it's checking their egos. It pseudo makes them feel like "I'm better than you enough that I'm confident I can down you again if you get up".
As you pointed out the hate for slugging is completely irrational. There are even a multitude of reasons why you should prefer being slugged.
Most that slugging hate stems from them not actually playing killer to any significant degree to understand why they slug. Most people that only play survivor think the killer just decides if he feels like slugging which couldn't be further from the truth. The killer typically only slugs when the survivors present the opportunity, IE playing bad.
Then they bring up how the scenario of slugging at 5 gens is bad. As we've gone over the killer didn't just randomly decide to slug at 5 gens, they played bad and handed him a slug opportunity. If the killer is actually able to pull off a 5 gen 4 man slug the survivors are completely outclassed and way worse than the killer or the survivors just played really, really bad. IE either scenario it is, it's because the survivors played worse than the killer, significantly. That scenario is never happening with survivors that are even remotely decent at the game.
Slugging is also basically required to even have a chance at winning if the group of survivors are actually good. There is literally not enough time to down and one hook each survivor one at a time and get 12 hooks.
This is a circumstance of people playing bad and being unwilling to take responsibility for it so they make excuses, or simply not playing both sides enough to understand the balance of the game.

Amen to that brotha.
The one who called me scummy ran a Key as well. I said you teabag me and taunt me with a key and im the scummy one? If i down someone don't run in my LOS and i wont slug simple as that

I would dare to guess the reason many think it's scummy would be a different perspective than the one you have in the original post. While you are correct to say slugging extends a survivors time in the match that doesn't necessarily equate to a good thing for everyone. I'm a perfect example. Personally I would rather be out of a match in 30 seconds as opposed to spending 30 seconds slugged only able to crawl. Slugging is the single most boring part of the game to me. In other words if you extend my match by slugging that is about the worst thing you could do to me. Every second spent crawling around feels like a minute to me. In other words for many extending time by slugging feels more like punishment than something good.
Having said all that I don't think slugging is scummy. It's a legit and extremely effective strategy. As long as someone isn't breaking rules I'm a firm believer that you can play however you want regardless of anyone else's opinion about it, including mine.

I don't mind being slugged if the killer then runs off to do something else. I have fun trying to figure out a spot to crawl to where he might not see me. Plus there is, of course, the chance for another teammate to find and heal me.
It's the slugging and camping, especially if I'm the last survivor, that's scummy. Just play the game and let us both move on with our lives.

I think some people are just entitled. Slugging is one of the best tool in a killer's arsenal and not using it when the occasion presents itself would be extremely stupid. It's also a very high risk strategy for the killer since it's easy to get greedy and lose all the pressure gained, so I don't really see the problem with it.

because if you actually slug you just hold the game hostage for 4 minutes while the survivors wait to bleed out.

It doesn't bother me too much. I run wglf 100% of the time, so makes me chuckle picturing the killer thinking to themselves "how the hell did they get up so fast?"

I feel like that's more the survivors playing poorly and the Oni not caring. Which is perfectly fine.

I gotta say from my personal experience slugging 4 man at 5 gens, means the team is just bad.
If you slug at a 3 gen scenario all 4 survivors will have zero chance to complete gens. If they aren't smart enough to leave the area and heal up fully, and dive constantly for teammates.
Every other time smart slugging is majorly dependent on if you see a near by injured survivor after you down someone.
4 man slugging is actually really hard to pull off. If the survivors are decent at looping.

Ok that I get.. But when a survivor is downed and another survivor decides to dance around in front of me I am NOW going to chase that other survivor no matter how many gens are left. I don't get where the entitlement of ohh you downed me you HAVE to pick me up no matter what comes from.

There's nothing wrong with slugging to punish grouping up or if you just straight up don't have the time to hook. Or you know where the last survivor is when there's only 2 left.
I think most take issue with the fact that the bleedout timer is 4 minutes long with no way to "give up" and exit the game sooner than that without just DCing should the killer either take forever to hook them or just decide not to and let them bleed.
I can also see how being slugged by an Infectious Nurse or a suited up Huntress can be both boring and frustrating as they don't have the typical downtime or ramp up that a killer like Oni has.
The most annoying case being slugged for up to 4 minutes so that the killer can wander the map looking for the last survivor to prevent hatch (or EGC gate escape) but they don't know where they're at and don't have Whispers is mega zzz.

Nah, THAT slugging scenario is perfectly reasonable.
1 -
What's not to like about multiple chances? I do find that if you down Survivors enough times they start to think your farming and refuse to play normally or straight abandon teammates to bleed out.
0 -
Because survivors just want something else to whine about. Seriously, if you weren't supposed to be allowed to slug, then there wouldn't be a dying state.
0 -
It’s not scummy, people just cry
0 -
The problem is that people use the term slugging for both leaving the survivor on the ground for pressure and letting them bleed out for 4 minutes without a reason.
So when people complain about the bleed out slugging people see it and just think slugging in general is toxic

Well isn't it obvious? Its because sometimes it works, and sometimes it even stops the survivors from being annoying if they try to crowd you and they make too many mistakes.
You know, the same reasons camping, proxy camping, tunneling, ect isn't allowed. It doesn't even matter if you didn't do any of those things, survivors will still complain because they loss. At this rate, I think what they really are complaining about in these situations is getting downed, which makes sense because if we look in the rule book for killers by survivors it clearly states in page 1 in red underline "Always let survivors win".

You mean you have yet to read the Killer Rule Book yet? believe the authors name is Survivor. Read it, it is a quick read. Basically make sure you do, as the killer, everything possible so the survivors can have fun! :)

Survivors don't like being slugged because it makes the games too long and it's boring, yet they also don't like being tunneled, which makes the games much shorter.
Doesn't really matter how you play a killer you're going to get called a camper, tunneler, slugger, cheater regardless of what combination of tactics you use to win a game.
I guess 90% of survivor mains just want you to run around like a dumb ass and give the occasional chase, whilst letting them complete all the objective in under 10 mins so they can pip and play in ranks they have no business being at.
