My thoughts on a DBD dating sim
Since the newest survey released, talk of a dbd dating simulator has been circulating, and, IMO, I think this would be a good addition to DBD's franchise? (dont remember the word but franchise is close). Right off the chart, the idea is wack, and the internet loves wack things, so when streamers start jumping on the bandwagon, we also get that extra popularity. And besides being able to date ho- I mean psychos from slasher flicks, its also a comedic take on the smash bros of the Asymmetrical genre.

If a dating game were made, I hope it's just one of those fan-made apps or steam games like those that have people date sharks or Bowser or whatever. Not sure if BHVR would benefit from this genre well.

It would fundamentally destroy any immersion of the franchise that I have left. People already go overboard on stupid and unfunny memes, calling killers childish names like calling Wraith "Bing Bong Boy" and Blight "Ping Pong Boy", and naming builds silly things like "crack Hillbilly" and "Burger King Meyers". And then there's shipping of the different survivors together, and shipping different killers together, and sometimes a mix of the 2 roles. I can imagine this kind of stuff influencing the eventual Dead By Daylight movie and pretty much ruining it.
So I hate to be this guy, but if you're for this idea, you're ruining DBD.

It should be taken seriously. Just because a majority of people don't doesn't mean they're right. And as we know, even the devs can be wrong. But you guys only support immersion when it's a Claudette hiding in a bush, so I understand.

I would love this.
But Bubba, Freddy, Spirit, Legion, and Huntress shouldn't be dateable. Billy is a maybe.
I feel like Pyramid Head and Myers wouldn't be dateable either.

It's hard to take it seriously when you've got 1k+ hours into the game. A lot of continuing enjoyment is derived from the community and its antics. Like this dating sim idea. lol

Apparently, some licenses were already a ######### to get into the game, and it took forever to get Myers anything other than the usual outfit.
Heck, Quentin & Freddy still have nothing new.

Personally, I'd rather we get something else for theoretical spin-off.
I think a puzzle based game where you're in the role of Vigo, or someone like him, would be really interesting.
It'd be cool to explore more of the Entity's Realm and see it from the side of characters who are, at least somewhat, outside the Entity's control.

But if we do end up with a Dating Simulator, I'd hope they play it straight.
No meme-y, alternate reality, cutesy nonsense. Make it about romance between characters who are trapped in an endless hell of life and death that they can never truly escape from.
They could, and should IMO, even feature little trial minigames between dates, where you and the other Survivors can get brutally murdered depending on how well you perform in the minigame.
With the consequence that the dating sequences get harder the more you and your romantic interest get butchered by Huntress, Wraith, or Trapper.
Or easier if your actions during trials are things the character appreciates (maybe one person likes it if you save them from a camping Wraith, maybe another would prefer it if you just did the gens and saved everyone else, maybe one person likes to get chased and appreciates you being fearless too, etc.).
Ideally I'd also rather most of the main cast weren't involved in the story.
Sure, Dwight, Meg, or etc. could, and should, pop up for a cameo or in the trial minigames, but for the actual dating sequences I think it should be mostly all new Survivors specifically for the game.
That way the characters can continue to endure the trials or end up succumbing to despair depending on your choices and minigame performance, to keep some semblance of the survival horror vibe.
And they can also give a variety of LGBTQ+ options without needing to change the main cast's lore.

Oh gosh, I haven't thought about that game in forever.
But yes, I think something along those lines could work for a theoretical DbD dating sim.
Let romance be a big part of the spin-off, but not the only part, and I think it wouldn't be quite as bad or out of tone as some people are making it out to be.
