Dear devs, i have very bad news.....

I think so much and so hard about posting this but..... the MMR does not work. I just came back playing this game after a 4 month break and before i left i heard rumors that the MMR will be implemented and everything will be ok so i finally came back playing my lovely Clown. I dropped back to yellow levels and the unimaginable happened...... i get red rank teammates as yellow rank killer to play against....

I know that in this pandemic times it is the last thing what you wanna hear about that how much your game is broken, but i have to tell it..... the MMR is not working and still i have instant ques as killer and have to wait as survivor.

Best wishes, please don't bann me!

As far as I know mmr isn't on right now. However when it is I'll be so relieved for the most part.

I'll finally get matched with people within my skill level. That was my experience when the testing was going on. I liked it so much that I have been playing killer more often because I cannot stand seeing another base skin claudette crouching at the opposite end of the map seemingly hiding from a killer that you'd think would be breathing down her neck but is actually hooking me instead.

Literally hiding from a killer that isn't even stealthy. I can't.

Seems like such a no-brainer move. If there is a shortage of killers or survivors, causing longer queue times, goad players into playing the other role by giving blood point bonuses.

Just have a header that comes up like this, "in order to alleviate survivor wait times, the next ten killers will receive double blood points".

Oh and obviously make the killer experience more fun in general, but that is much more difficult to do in my opinion.

Pretty sure they saw that 24 hour MMR Test and said:

    "Yeahhhhh this can't go live"

    So get comfy.

If MMR was on, we'd be a lot better off, that is if they devs were to start balancing around MMR. But it's not in yet, so let the (warranted) complaining continue.

So when will MMR get turned on, I wonder? We've been dealing with the crappy rainbow matchmaking for a long time now, and the killers are still penalised by being locked once they enter the lobby which was touted as a part of MMR. So the bad part of MMR has been in place for quite a while but the good part is still in some vague future.

    Yay.

I think it will get worse, more and more people are stressing playing as killer and want to play as survivor. I never stress playing as survivor but i do with killer, mainly against red ranks that are rank one. I am purple rank but i still have a lot to learn, i am no way ready to play against red ranks teams.

they get gens done quickly, i find it hard to catch them they are good at looping, when i do i get least one or two hooks. some survivors i never see. even though i do teleport and i do play fair.

when i play against purple and below i get good chase, i destroy gens, i get hooks and even possible kills depending if its mixed with red ranks. i do not use a sweaty/strong build. i don't and never have used noed or even any hex perks.

I play well if i am not against red rank survivors.

with this game experience is the key and over time. i have been playing for a few months and the last time i played was a few years ago i did not play killer that often. i am a better players as killer and survivor now than i was before but killer is just getting stressful.

The 24 hour mmr test was better for me than the trash matchmaking we have now. Now, thats not saying it didn't suck for anyone else.

    Are you serious?

you think MMR is on and then you are even trying to say it’s not working because the ranks were not on the same level - something that MMR actively tries not to use for matchmaking...

Once MMR is live, ranks will be reset to 20 every month and there will be rank rewards (BP).

🤔 Wait a minute, who did you pay off to get teammates when you play as clown? 🤔

Here I'm always alone when I play killer and you get help 😜

But in all seriousness, MMR is not yet implemented.

I'm very confident they switch it on and off from time to time without telling it.

You can tell it when you play with and against red ranks all the time and all of a sudden the ranks are all over the place.

I don't want to discourage you, but i have a very strong feeling that it will take a very long time.

Especially when you look at other promises they made, 🤬 looking at the console optimization update for example.

So i wouldn't hold my breath for that if I were you.

Sorry but no, we do always advise when MMR will be active and when we are testing something in that manner - it's not something that's done without communication. MMR was on for 24hrs only and has not been tested on the live servers since then.

Yeah im not entirely sure what the solution is. I'm inclined to think that the goal should be to make the less popular side mostly more fun to use. Getting lots of BP but being miserable as a role isn't going to be that motivating longterm.

I often wonder how random are the daily challenges. It feels like when I'm playing swf with friends I get all killer dailies. If I play killer I start getting survivor dailies again. If someone were to datamine the game and find some hidden algorithm that watches how often you play survivor and that determines your chances of getting killer dailies. I would not be surprised.

    OK if you say so.

I still find it funny that from 1 moment to another the ranks are all over the place.

You play several hours with and against red and purple ranks and all of a sudden there are yellow/brown/green and red ranks together.

Stuff like that makes people think you guys are testing mmr.

I don't mind if it is happening as you guys need data after all.

But it is very weird that the ranks are suddenly all over the place for no reason whatsoever and then you're saying there is no testing behind the scene on the live server 🤷‍♂️

The ranks are all over the place because the matchmaking has always had trouble matching up ranks. If there's no one to pair you with within 6 ranks, it opens it up to everyone.

This is bordering on conspiracy theory now. You can tell if MMR is on because when you play a killer for the first time, you'll go against rank 17-20s regardless of your rank. Which only happened during the 24 hr test.

That was the theory indeed, it was supposed to be like that to go against low ranks when you first play a killer.

In practice it was nothing like that.

I've been therewith the testing and I can tell you for sure it didn't work one bit.

From day 1 I had only played nurse 2 times, last time more than a year before the mmr test.

So you would say the mmr would be basically none existent, but yet got matched with red ranks only.

I played as nurse about 4 or 5 times during the test and I only saw red ranks.

Funny enough when I play as survivor I got ranks all over the place, even the killer changed every match.

So not sure how they were testing but it didn't work.

About current matchmaking I know it isn't that great but it's very surprisingly you play hours with red ranks and suddenly (it's no joke) you play as a rank 1 with rank 20 and 2 rank 18 against a rank 1 killer.

Now I don't believe that there isn't a single survivor available in ranks closer to mine.

But it will be an endless circle about whether or not they're testing it behind the scenes.

"In practice it was nothing like that."

It was exactly like that for me.

I tried out Bubba for the first time during the MMR test, first match took about 15 minutes as killer to match me, with all grey ranks, despite being a rank 5 killer. I got a 4k, next match was a little higher, and so on. Meanwhile my Spirit games which I have the most experience with, put me against mostly green ranks, right about where I'd say I should be, because I definitely shouldn't have been as high as rank 5 and going against red ranks like I usually am.

Bearing in mind, I've been playing only since last September, so my overall MMR is going to be low compared to someone who's been playing for several years.

As for your "string of red rank games and suddenly a rank 20" that sounds a lot like the time of day. Was it at the end of a long session that crept into the late night, or in the morning stretching to the early afternoon? I've had instances where I've dodged a lobby as a killer, and ended up straight back in the same lobby with the same survivors, several times in a row. Which clearly indicates a shortage of players to match me with.

You can continue to believe your unfounded conspiracies if you like, but I don't see any reason why they would not announce a test.

Current matchmaking is broken enough without having to blame it on an MMR test, and just leads to confirmation bias. "Oh, the matchmaking was weird that time, it must be due to MMR being secretly tested" "Oh, the matchmaking was fine that time, MMR must be off" can you not see the glaringly obvious fallacy in that? You just end up reinforcing a false belief that "MMR doesn't work" because all of the times you imagined it was on, it "didn't work".

Ah, I know everyone had corrected you on MMR, but I do also wanna say that you are also effected by the time of day you're playing as well. Playing during Peak Hours will be more likely to give you normal games against players closer to your skill, and playing outside of it just causes the matchmaker to get more and more funky depending on what times you play. (For example, normally when playing during peak, I play in a 3 man- two reds and a mid-purple. (Only one person runs a meta build, and it's the purple. Reds run memes/off meta.) Our teammates/killers versed are normally red, purple, or (rarely) green ranks. (Teammates are a hit or miss, but normally killers are pretty average unless they make like... super major mistakes mid-match.) Playing outside of peak though, either as a solo or 2/3 man, ranks will fluctuate a lot more. You either get a ton of really good, Red Rank killers back to back, while you get green/grey teammates, or you get a bunch of red/purple survivors against a yellow/grey killer who just installed. Average games are rare during those times.)

But I will say, normally during peak, it won't go more then 2 above. (Which can be okay depending on your build, map, and the Survivors.)
