We need a water map
I don’t care what type, but we need something where water is an important map element! Many options:
- Underwater research facility (Bioshock chapter perhaps?)
- Partially flooded cave
- Tidal plain where the water ebbs and flows
- Wrecked submarine
...and many more. Let’s do this!

An expansive Sewer maze with a lot of variants to keep it fresh might be nice, with areas of various depths of water. It should come with a Killer whose power is to be undetectable (and hidden from LOS) while under the water. Said Killer would probably have the ability to see fine out of it though. There are lots of possibilities for the Killer in such a place, from classics like the Creature from the Black Lagoon to CHUD. The only downside would be such a Killer would not have that water on other maps so can't base his/her power around it, sadly. :)

Sewer maze, the tile options are endless and it would be really, really spooky and gross

An 'indoor' map that's a underwater facility - glass walls everywhere; murky waters outside so you can't see through it to the other hallways - and have random aquatic creatures slam into the walls when you run by to scare the hell out of players.

Man I never thought of a bioshock chapter, now you say it, it would be so cool. They can do a freakin map with this

Yep, I like it.

This and something like a castle.
I could also imagine a viking theme with a water map.

I’m right there with you! I didn’t even think of BioShock until I was proofreading my post to start this thread! But that game has a pretty good “creep factor” that I think would fit into DBD quite nicely.
I imagine we could have the creepy, body-harvesting Little Sister as the killer. Or her giant robot. (Or both!? The robot could be her power - kinda Twins style maybe.) Plenty of other options too though.
Anyway, the map would be awesome! Dark. Creepy. Moody. Isolated. Just absolutely perfect!

The problem with this idea is that believe it or not, water physics is hard to do right. Have you seen Cyberpunk water physics? I'm pretty sure DbD's devs can somehow do worse than that

Salt in the wound is that CD Projekt Red’s previous game, Witcher 3, had phenomenal water physics. Then they biffed it on Cyberpunk 2077.
Even so, the water in DBD doesn’t need to be interactable - they can still make an underwater themed map and you don’t need to wade into or through it. Background water such as behind windows could just be a cycling animation.
I only wonder exactly what the substitute for the exit gates would be like. Every map has them, even Hawkins which itself is underground I believe and leads out to the Entity’s campfire through blast doors. You still run off into the distance as well. They’d either have to make sections of the map be underwater, or make an entirely new exit gate and escape sequence.
