I swear, if Lucky Break makes it through the PTB...

For reference, Gearhead and Coup de Grace were deemed too strong, despite neither being particularly good. If Lucky Break's considered balanced enough to bring to live, then I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of Stridor spirits.

Seriously, though, why were Gearhead and Coup nerfed? They weren't too powerful or even very strong in their PTB states, and now literally nobody uses them. Ever.

I don't get it either, man.

People are saying lucky break isn't strong because you can (in most cases) only use it once. But that also applied for decisive strike, and that was clearly OP... so yeah...

Let's see if the devs adjust it further when it goes live.

Not too long until we find out.

And yeah i wish they didn't change coup de grace it was already mostly just a meme perk but oh well.

I’m all for them doing more intense balance changes but this is going too far. Let’s hope they at least reduced the timer

I have about 20 games worth of all seeing blood on Wraith.

    So, I'm ready!

I think lucky break is going to get nerfed to 10/20/30 seconds honestly, so it can only be used once per game and only for a limited amount of time.

naaaw, that's an out and out lie. what we want is to have survivors be creative. You have absolutely no idea how boring and taxing it is for killer mains to come across the same 6 perks over and over again. Yes, I know that a lot of killers run Ruin Undying(i do not) But usually killers try and shake it up. This is not so for survivors.

Exactly. The devs are clearly experimenting with stronger perk changes which I’m all for. I still think it’s too strong but this is a good change solely for the mentality behind it

I don't think it's that big of a deal, but I need to experience it for myself to be absolutely sure. But I don't think reducing the timer is the solution. After all, where's the fun in using a perk if it only works for a few seconds a match? Maybe just remove scratch marks and not blood? And don't just revert the change, because old Lucky Break was straight-up bad.

Legion and plague mains are going to die too

Plague will be just fine as she counters iron will and will still see the green stench

    Legion is kinda ######### though

I believe Spies from the Shadows is the better counter for new Lucky Break, people escaping with Lucky Break and the sprint will be very prone to alerting crows.

It's too strong. I'm hopeful it will not make it to live game.

I think it should have 1 token. Everytime u take a hit from Healthy to Injured. Perk activated for 15s, you will not leave scratch mark & blood, lose 1 token.

You gain 1 token everytime you get hooked

It's not that killers are mad abaut changing the meta, but just the fact that new overpowered perks REPLACE survivor meta. 90 second lucky break was hilariously broken perk. Can you imagine if something like brutal strength got buffed to 80% pallet breaking speed, it would change killer meta and also be extremely overpowered.

Again, you can hard-counter Iron Will/Lucky Break with Stridor. And if this Perk Combo is prominent, you can negate Perk Slots from multiple Survivors each game.

But, does not matter anymore now, the Perk is trash again, so nobody needs to worry that anyone will be using Lucky Break.

    People calling LB Trash, lmfao.

It's still a really good Perk.

The change they made to lucky break would have been more akin to changing Zanshin Tactics to reveal all auras of every pallet and vault location, but after striking a survivor, also reveal all survivor auras until you successfully down one of them. Effectively this would turn Zanshin Tactics into the Anti-Lucky Break perk, but would be heavily abuseable.

Fortunately they nerfed LB to 45 seconds from the PTB's 90, which means that survivors get, at most, 1 and a 1/2 uses out of it. While that's healthier for the balance of the game, LB can still be used to decimate the killers Early game Pressure, which means gens will complete more often before the killer gets their first down. Still, the trade off is that once LB is used up, the survivors are down 1 perk for the remainder of the trial, so while it will suck for early game, it will mean less 2nd chance and escape perks available to the survivors for the mid-late game. IF the survivors didn't outright wreck your pressure and rush the gens in the early game, you'll have a better chance at getting them in the remainder of the trial. That's a big "IF" though.

Lucky Break is pretty good, but you really need a med-kit with it to get good use out of it. Or Inner Strength.

  • Callmehandsome
    Callmehandsome Member Posts: 529

If stridor was such a hard counter what timer change have anything to do with it? Problem was that lucky break could be used several times in chase with minimal counter play. 45 seconds is still enough to get 1-2 uses with medkit. I'm going to test the perk tonight myself. Stridor really isn't that strong perk, specially with killers like wraith, trapper etc who get very little value from it.

Thing is, Lucky Break's timer goes down when survivors are on hook too, its not as strong as people think.

As for Gear Head, the reason Gear Head cannot be strong is because Pop and Ruin are strong. As for Coup, it's because of Spirit and Nurse. They are already strong killers that can guarantee hits.

It's not that the perks themselves were strong, it's because their combinations could be insane. Which is why Any Means Neccesary was 80 seconds at first, because IF 4 people ran it, that means 1 reset pallet every 20 seconds. Which is insanely powerful considering how long loops can be extended. They later ended up lowering the timer because killers tend to break strong pallets instantly, so getting use out of Any Means Neccesary was already extremely niche. However, Nurse and Spirit have not been altered, so Coup cannot be buffed. Pop and Ruin are still strong, so Gear Head cannot.

So many things are wrong what you said. Good nurses and spirits don't need Coup de Graces. Majority of their perks will be just for tracking. Also lucky break timer didn't go down while slugged in PTB unless they have changed that.

"Good nurses and spirits don't need Coup de Graces."

Exactly, which is why Coup cannot be made stronger. Cus good spirits and nurses will have no reason to not run it. Or do you want old DS back? Good survivors dont need old DS. They rather rely on perks like Camaraderie.

"Also lucky break timer didn't go down while slugged in PTB unless they have changed that."

But it did prior to the PTB.

Killers are very quiet with all these buffs they receive, along with the various nerfs survivors get. They are only loud when survivors actually get something LOL, and it’s not even something that’s amazing.
