they want as much feedback as possible to make it a lot less severe, so it's mandatory for everyone. if enough people ask for it later they'll look into it being optional instead, however with the amount of racist, homophobic remarks that get said in endgame chat i, right now, am perfectly happy not being told to "######### you stupid ######### #########" every three games.

more than half the survivor names are censored. Nice filter we got here, if only it was optional so I can say survivor names without the censorship

It was already stated that the filter will be adjusted to let character names through.

BTW I like how David King is not censored but the „David“ in David Tapp is. They should let that in. Tapp should only be referred to as Tapp.

Honestly though tony does have his very entertaining moments. I enjoy his streams. I wish tony would stream more though... Tony if you read this stream more. I agree though chat filter needs to go.

For the OP, I have to agree. They need to improve it or remove it.
Quite tired of typing a normal word like "adam" "myers" "hawkins" "teabag" "meghead" etc and getting it censured. Really difficult to talk at all in end game chat when it censures normal words.

The fact the chat filter isn't an option is what makes it a total joke, not the fact it filters the dumbest ######### imaginable. Imagine being so arrogant you think you can tell other people what they are and are not allowed to read of their own volition.

Never been bothered by it - I have chat turned off because it serves no purpose.
My experience with EGC was basically people with low IQs who resorted to racist and homophobic comments.
In 6 months I posted around 400 Tweets of screenshots of the moronic comments in EGC. The funny part is that some of those people tried reporting me to BHVR for pointing out their racist and homophobic comments on Twitter LOL.

I agree. It's really obnoxious on how in a game that is 16+ and is about killing people, with gore and even swear words in game, we get treated like we're all 12.

I've been called slurs as well. There's a BIG difference between calling someone a slur and using swear words like a lot of the ones who are censured also on the forums.

I'm glad you're 27 and responsible. When the majority of the community (on steam at least) still think its acceptable to call people the f-slur, n-slur, t-slur, and love to tell people to go commit die in far less eloquent ways, its unfortunate for you but they're treating the community as the majority act.

Being 27 and acting 27 are two different things. I’ve had grown ass men messaging me to ask if I wanted to meet up to have a fight because I beat them in a game.
A lot of the time it’s actually the teenagers who are the ones acting mature. 😬

Yes. BHVR isn't mom or dad. They're a company who made a video game people play. I fully understand why they would make an end game filter. I'm all for people having that option if they want it. But, it should be optional.
Personally, I say my ggs and go the majority of the time. So, it's possible I don't see the worst most of the time. Even still, give people the option and move on.

I didn’t generalise though? I never said that every teenager is a saint. I said ‘A LOT’ of the time, not every time. My point was, is that being older doesn’t prove any point. As the adults can be just as bad and at times worse than what the younger people are saying.
So yes, you might be an adult but the chat filter was put in place because of the many people who don’t know how to act like a civilised human being.
If people are unable to have a conversation post-game without using profanity, doesn’t that say more about those individuals than the filter itself? 😬

I'm on steam and currently have 4.283 hours. I can count on my hands how many times I've been called slurs and been told to die.
Slurs and telling people to die and get diseases should be censured, but a lot of curse words should not.
If Ash can say a curse word in the lobby, and some addons have curse words in their description, I don't think players should be censured of those as well.
One of the clown addon names is censured both here, discord and in game chat. Shouldn't that addon name be changed instead of punishing players who use the same word?

If you'd read the thread, or use the chat more often, you'd see it's not only "profanity" that is censured. A lot of survivor names and map names are censured. Myers is censured.
Are names profanity? No.
And this game has profanity in itself. Addon descriptions, Ash in the lobby. Should Ash be censured when saying it in the lobby too? The game warns people of strong language and graphics when you buy it.

I’ve seen plenty of other people have no issues with random words being censored though? I’ve also read that the more profanity you use, the more the chat will start to censor words that don’t warrant it.

If you’d read all the other threads, you’d see it is inconsistent and it censures randomly. Is everyone else in the forums, Reddit etc lying then?

There was a thread made when the chat filter first went into effect and people were complaining that things like ‘Myers’ were censored. BUT other forum members debunked this and posted their own screenshots without anything being censored. It was later revealed that the people constantly using profanity were being given harsher censors which resulted in words that weren’t actually offensive being blocked.
So I’m pretty sure if you have a reputation for constantly using adult language, you’re going to find more and more words being blocked as the chat filter views you as having a bad reputation. 👀

I barely use end game chat, so maybe you should make less assumptions and play the game more. The chat is inconsistent and it has been proven before. It seems like you’re not here to discuss how the chat censures normal names and are here just to be overly offended and make assumptions about me

Hi please refer to the many many other posts from other members including myself where its made clear that the more you curse the harsher the filter is. Or are we all just lying across the forums, twitter, Reddit, etc?
