THE HATCH NO LONGER OPENS WITH THE PINK/PURPLE KEYS IF YOU ARE IN THE DYING STATE
Pretty wack, just stuck recovering on top of the hatch with a pink key with no option to "open hatch", anyone else experiencing this, come on dev's, fix it

Why should you be able to open the hatch when in dying state?

It has been like this for years

If only hatch still didn't spawn for last survivor until a few gens were completed..

It’s nothing for the devs to fix. It’s supposed to be like that
20 -
I didn't even know it was possible.

???

You were never able to open the hatch with a key while in the Dying State.
24 -
good.
it's bad enough you can open a hatch INSTANTLY in mid chase with zero counterplay and their only hope was to down you before you open it but then you can just open it while down.

Lol I do love picturing someone trying to flashlight save themselves while being carried
10 -
You can't use items when in dying state, including keys. That's been a thing for awhile.
3 -
Yeah because we all know it was fun playing killer with the last survivor stealthing about the map with no way to bring the game to an end.
7 -
How else do you want it? I don't like hatch is it is now because as killer it's rather boring. But requiring gens to do be done would just lead to extremely stalled out endgames.
5 -
true, never thought of it like that, LOLOL I have 10000 hours between ps4 and pc.....strange I never knew this, actually,I think thats the first time in 4 years ive been downed and last one alive next to the hatch with the key, ignorance is bliss, thanks for clearing this up guys

Make egc start after the there is1 survivor left and it pauses as thr last survivor works on a gen.
Still more fun than getting ribbed of your last k
1 -
So the killer then knows when the survivor is working on a gen?
2 -
Yes. I think I'd a killer shuts down a team with 5 gens left they should be given an advantage where as now it feels like killers get a bit screwed since they performed well but lose their advantage despite doing well

Keys have never (at least in my two years of playing) allowed a Survivor to open hatch in the dying state.
In hopes that this isn't just a really bad bait and not a genuine misunderstanding...
I don't think that would be a great idea. It essentially creates a lose-lose scenario for the last survivor- which, from my understanding, is one of the major reasons why the hatch exists in the first place. To give the Survivor a more fair chance to escape when they're the only one left- the lone survivor. It lets the game end quickly, and if anything, it can be seen as more Killer sided in some aspects. (After all, Killers both move faster and will probably be running around before it's open more than a Survivor- so they've got a better chance of finding it just from that alone. Plus, if the hatch hasn't even spawned, you can literally just slug and try to find the other Survivor and the hatch. Granted, I don't really get the need to slug for the 4k- I don't really care, nor think they're that important, but whatever.)
Plus, you're pretty much just asking for the game to last 2 minutes of you doing the equivalent of nothing. (After all, if I understood your proposed change correctly, EGC would only pause if the Survivor worked on a gen, would only be paused for the duration of them being on a gen, and would not pause for opening the doors, allows doors to just be opened from the start. At that point, it's better for the Survivor to just... wait out EGC. If they work on a gen, the timer is going to pause, and the Killer is going to know where they are and that they're working on a gen. It would become either a 2 minute slog fest, or a 2+ minute slogfest of the Survivor slowly doing gens, while the Killer pretty much plays cat-and-mouse with them, with no way to get it to stop. Do you see where that would be boring?)

???
Do what you're saying is the game is functioning fine in this instance? Good to know, can you check and make sure that if a Killer hits you you get injured? Does that still work?

Only 2 posts on the forums and you are talking about something that has been the way it has for years?
Nice bait.

for a second I thought keys finally got changed....

never thought of it like that, LOLOL I have 10000 hours between ps4 (SloppyJaloppies) and pc.....strange I never knew this, actually,I think that is the first time in 4 years ive been downed and last one alive next to the hatch with the key, ignorance is bliss, thanks for clearing this up guys, annnnd its not bait, it was a legitimate question, if you dont know something you ask,,,,and get an answer.......thanks again

Ah, yes, the killer is punished with a 3K already in the bank, but they still need a guaranteed 4K because the 50-50 in their favor isn't enough.
3 -
Ah yes, the Killer is winning, but gets denied his final kill because of a coin flip that Survivors believe they deserve for...failing?
1 -
I would say if a killer shuts down a team with 5 gens left he already had the advantage, mostly due to matchmaking, because he was playing vs survivors way beneath his skill level. Or would you say that happens a lot in balanced matches?
2 -
Id say it certainly can happen across any skill level.
The issue is that losing the last kill that the killer did work for but is denied because of a coin flips does greatly effect their pip in a game which isn't fair honestly
1 -
Yeah im not saying that is is specifically the answer to the problem, but it'd an option and honestly better than what we have now.
Id love to have other alternatives but the fact that it right now changes a killers advantage into a 50/50 scenario is just not very fair and boring (since most killers try to suggest 3rd survivor and hunt for the 4th)
1 -
It is not. A hatch escape with one or two players left n the game is a loss anyway, and pip system should reflect that.
Yes, you escaped, but no, you were far from winning.
It is a liitle different from a 3 and 4 man escape, there most of the objective is already done.

"I got 3K, so I deserve the 4K, too."

Yeah uh, thats been a thing for so long now, probably never been a thing

The hatch is a necessary evil due to the nature of "teams" on the survivor side. 4-man SWF are rare, you're most often going up against two teams paired together or one team and two randoms.
Now, does that mean the hatch is fair? No. But the game is fairer overall with the hatch than it would be without it.
1 -
Dude are you new or something?
You were never ever allowed to use a key on the hatch while in dying state, it's been like that since forever.
2 -
I remember the old dbd when you can open the hatch with a key in a dying state.
0 -
I must've either forgotten or it was around year 1 of dbd when that was possible
