Just experienced three rank 1 survivors take Self Care....
And sit in the corner for 55 seconds doing nothing.
I was amazed. Why do people still take this garbage perk? Are they really that scared to do anything injured?

Self care is a decent perk, but most people just lack the gamesense when to use it and when not

Because rank means nothing and we must reward bad players so they feel like they're doing good and might continue playing the game

I see it all the time in red ranks. When I run Empathy, I do indeed find that most people are unwilling to play injured. They also don't bring a medkit, self care, or any perk that would help them find a teammate to heal. It's absolutely maddening to see how often people get injured and just flat out refuse to play the game anymore.

it's even better when they use it against 1 shot killers.

It's not even a bad perk. It's just highly dependent on the situation. So against one shot killers, if you have it on don't bother with it unless the killer is that bad and M1s a lot. If there's one gen left with 3-4 people alive, just do the gen. If there's 5 gens left, just do a gen.
It's probably better to only use Self Care when your team is 1) actually good and/or 2) the killer keeps finding you/the team keeps leading the killer around you and you don't wanna be a 1shot when they come around.
Some people are good with the perk, some people are selfish. Let them use whatever perks they want? I like the perk myself but refuse to use it without Botany, plus Botany also gives better healing for teammates too.

People failing to use it properly isn't he perk's fault.
It's amazing perk that spares you a lot of time if you use it well depending on in which state the match is.

I had an Ace who insisted to be healed against infinite T3 Myers.
To the topic... I played SC when I was new. I was healing myself every five seconds... I learnt to play injured since, and it makes a real difference. I also bring Resilience to feel more comfortable about it.

I myself run selfcare but I use it because I know the right time to heal but that is not the case with 60% of people who run self care they get hurt they use iron will and sit in a corner and heal wasting everybody's time you should only run self care if you are an aggresive player like me who try's to get the killer to chase them because you don't really have time to get others to heal you because your always trying to prevent them from getting downed and taking chase instead its a nice perk but like a few other perks it is the king of being used wrong with urban and sprint burst behind it so if a red rank is running it as long as their not abusing it they should be aloud to use it

I feel your pain, we all do 😔

Self Care is easily one of the strongest perks in the game

Maybe they just understand math better than you. or maybe, like myself, they play in an enviorment where you cant relay on teammates. Here in europe, i play with russians a lot, and many of them dont heal you, so you are the easy target if the killer shows up on the gen and they can escape.
Also, grunts of pain and pools of blood are a litte counterproductive if you happen to like the stealth playstyle more than the running in circles playstyle.
What i agree on is that a lot of player running it doen´t know when not to heal, like that gen that got kicked but is 95% complete, or that unhook you dont do even though the killer just downed a second guy on the other side of the map.

Don't forget Legion

When I worked on the achievement for escaping 8 matches perkless in red ranks I couldn't get survivors to heal me even if killer was running Thanatophobia, only ones that did were also going for the perkless achievement. I would help finish a gen and they'd run away without healing, I'd try following and they'd just hop on new gen. Or I'd be unhooked, follow the rescuer and same thing. When I run self-care I have all the survivors wanting to heal me at once. If a survivor will heal me I'll let them but if I need to heal (Oni, end game save/body block, etc.) and no one is around to heal me it comes in handy. There are those that use self-care poorly but there are ridiculous amounts of teammates that won't heal other players even when facing a killer like the Oni who is constantly feeding off the injured players.

I would like to emphasis the "in a corner part".
There are smart ways to use this perk...then there is this.

Heaven forbid these players ever find out there not any good at the game. That would upset them :P
