What kind of buffs would put Wraith into more of the B to A tier but still be fair?

Wraith even with his buffs is still pretty weak. He is still very easily countered by windows, pallets, proper positioning, and of course exhaustion perks. He also has quite a bit of addons that just aren't good and don't give him much. They are fun to use, but they aren't really that useful for the most part.

I play quite a bit of Wraith so I think I have a good say in this, but he is still weak. Even when playing very hit and run, he still struggles against any good survivor or a survivor who is aware of their surroundings.

I think he could use a decent rework, or a new mechanic to his power that is simple and easy to use without being unfun or too strong. I don't really know what it could be, but my concept for it could be a new status effect for when he hits his bell. A secondary action that could help him with map pressure.

So what could he use that would put him into the higher tiers? I would love to see Wraith being much more of a threat at the higher ranks.

And of course them most important new addition, he needs his own chase music.

I doubt he will be getting any buffs anytime soon I have already seen some people call him the new freddy so.

I don’t think he needs anymore buffs. The game itself could be balanced better via maps, swfs, killer QOL changes but wraith himself is pretty good now.

this was my idea of a secondary power.

The idea was to give wraith some usage outside of cloak and in chase.

it could be use to mind game in short loops.

Don't you know ? No killer in A or B tier is fair since they have decent chance to beat even some of the best survivor teams.

That makes them inherently unfair obviously.

    you know what?

i think it's laughable that balance is even being attempted in a game where the killer can just choose to be more powerful and then the survivors can just choose to fix gens faster. like, what's the point? you want wraith to be more of a threat at high ranks, just use the "i want to win very much" squares.

in general, i hate addons and i don't think things like that have a place in a game that's trying to be competitive.

Why does he need something else to help mindgame short loops when his power is already good at doing that? What Wraith struggles with is long loops and jungle gyms, he's a standard killer at those tiles. (as it should be, he's a stealth killer with a ton of mobility and an average short loop ability with his post-invis lunge, it's fair that he has at least one weakness.

If by that they mean incredibly easy and rewarding to play, and popular...they're not completely wrong. He's more fun for both sides though and that's all that matters.

Even on more fair maps for both sides like coal tower, against any decent survivors he is pretty much a joke, and like I said he is still very easily countered, too easily.

It will be a long time before we even hear news of maps being balanced since the devs haven't even finished the graphical reworks.

I mean, it is an idea, but I we should focus on Wraith's stealth more. His post-cloak lunge is great at short loops and more unsafe pallets, but he is a killer fully set around stealth so it would make sense to buff that in a way. This idea also seems a bit weak honestly, and I feel it wouldn't make Wraith that much different.

Make Bone Clapper a part of his base kit

A small change, but it provides the following benefits:

    • Provides more opportunities to ambush a Survivor without his location being an immediate giveaway
    • Adds another layer onto his mind-games
    • Sticks to the core premise of making the Wraith a purely stealth-based Killer

Give him some sort of chase power. It doesn't even have to be good, it just has to not be detrimental.

Wraith, being a character who moves so fast, is extremely oppressive once pallet deadzones have been created on some maps. Where he really suffers is bad loops against survivors in certain situations like double T or L vault windows. Having to spend so long on certain loops puts a certain ceiling on him in high ranks.

One possibility is making the process of uncloaking create a shade of himself that has collision. Thus the wraith can uncloak at a window at some of the worst loops in the game, then this image will block survivors from vaulting (think like Charlotte, pre-nerf). Put a cooldown and make it last only ~20 seconds maximum to avoid hostage situations.

I don't think making bone clapper base kit is a good idea. That addon is incredibly strong and would be unnecessary as a base kit feature.

    None.

Wraith is fine. Sure, he's weak since his chase game is pretty much non-existent but that's fine. Wraith is a simple bing bong stealthy killer and he does that.

Maybe rework his Blink add-ons though...

Not really. The Wraith is still visible from a certain distance, and if he uncloaks outside that distance he puts himself at a disadvantage.

Lets compare his stealth mechanic to other Killers that also use it as a main mechanic:

    • Spirit - No discernable direction or sound whilst Phase Walking. Can instantly leave Phase Walking.
    • Ghostface - Can crouch and lean around corners. Can attack from stealth. Can expose from stealth. Doesn't announce presense.
    • Pig - Can crouch. Has a dash. [Needs a buff.]
    • Wraith - Temporarily keeps his bonus movement speed. [Needs a buff.]
    • Wraith with Bone Clapper - Temporary keeps his bonus movement speed. Has no discernable direction or sound when uncloaking.

The bone clapper still gives survivors a warning that he is uncloaking, it doesn't make his bell silent. It would also not fix Wraith and give him what he needs. Survivors can still play against bone clapper quite well sometimes, it would just not be the right choice to make. He needs something new to help him.

He is fine most of the time when against you average team of survivors, but he definitely needs work. No killer should be so easily countered like him.

I don't think he needs any buffs at the moment but if I absolutely had to make any changes to make him stronger I'd:

    • Probably remove lightburn, let's face it - it's kinda hard to lightburn wraiths these days anyway and is a relic of a bygone era where killer powers had 'counters'
    • Reduce the volume of his passive snarling when he's cloaked to improve his stealth
    • Give him the 'supress red stain + terror radius' addon as basekit

These are the only things I could think of in the case that I absolutely had to buff wraith, but right now I don't believe he needs to be buffed. His base power is much better, his addons are still amazing and he has a lot of perk synergies.

Wraith has trouble getting sneak attacks because his bell gives away his exact location.

Bone Clapper basekit would be too strong, so I think his bell sounds should have no direction but still have distance. Survivors would still know the Wraith is after them, but won't know where he is coming from.

The general layout for what a killer wants is that stealth killers have a very strong first strike but become very weak for 2nd hit as they lack any outplay mechanic at safe loops when the survivor is effective at using the loops. common way to counter stealth killers is healing so that you can brute force generator without the risk of being instant down from injured states.

That's principal of hit & run. If you injure a survivor on first hit, leave them, than find them again when injured, your first hit becomes an instant down as if it was an exposed-hit.

If there was an add-on that increased double effectiveness of mangled to like 40% or an add-on that when you come out of cloak, your stealth strike is an instant down. his hit & run would be very oppressive but he'd definitely be A-tier.

They did implement some mechanics to potentially give chances for wraith to outplay at loops but they're currently not very good. Like for example, he has pig's ambush charge after uncloaking but uncloak time takes too long and the duration is not really practical at most loops to get hits if the survivor knows how to play around it. Maybe if they buffed his swift-hunt add-on from 0.3 seconds to like 1.2 seconds and increased speed boost by another 0.25 seconds, he might have some play at loops in conjunction with body-blocking. They also gave him this strange Shadow dance add-on that you combine with his grey serpent add-on, with some perks like Enduring+Spirit fury or Brutal strength, you can break pallets quickly potentially giving you hits before survivors make to the next pallet but its not really practical for wraith to brute force loops. your better off just learning Bubba whose entire playstyle centers around this as base-kit.
