Killers need some qol changes as well
Let's start with what I feel is most important , the fov, the current one makes the game feel worse for killer in a few way including : excessive blind spots near the killers front, slower and more sluggish feeling to reactions , not fully being able to see where they are walking , corn despite being made more bearable in the last update, still feels like your crashing into a static screen because because the fov is so zoomed in.
These are just the big ones, now increasing the fov or at least adding a slider would make the game feel much better for the killer as a whole without really touching on balance , if you ask me I'd say remove the fov changing from monitor and shadowborn and give dhadowborn base, that perk should be changed anyway and fov should not be something tied to perks either , survivors got a sizable qol boost this last patch and its a good one, so I feel killers deserve a turn, especially when this affects every killer and not just some

Changing the FoV would change the balance, and it would make this already poorly optimised game run even worse.

Killers do get QoL changes wdym...
Blight literally just got QoL changes this update and both roles get QoL changes all the time...
5 -
I don’t remember shadowborn causing any frame drops. Could be wrong though
17 -
How on earth does it change balance?
5 -
Blight is getting a fix, that doesn't count , and it's for him only ,, I'm talking core and I don't remember any meaningful killer overall qol in a good while
5 -
Me neither
10 -
Shadowborn should become basekit and given a new ability. Monitor’s FOV changes can be tiresome.
6 -
Doctor, Freddy and a few others got UI updates recently.
Blight update wasn't just a "fix" it also increased sensitivity for console players.
Demogorgon got some rat liver base kit, huntress got iri head nerfed...
These were just first ones to come to mind
The devs literally give QoL changes to killers every update. As for FOV, theyre never going to change that, theyre very certain on keeping the current FOV. My advice would be to use shadowborn, I know its frustrating to always sacrifice a perk slot, but its either that or get used to the normal FOV.

Why do you think stretched res is so popular, even among killer players?
3 -
Exactly
1 -
Stretched res is only problematic because it makes survivors see over nearly every loop..never seen a killer use it as it hurts visibility,
3 -
if youve never seen a killer use it you havent been looking very far
4 -
Either way it won't grant the ability to see things killer can't normally by turning , the fov is too low for that
2 -
Once again those are updates and most of those don't benefit the killer any at all or only that one killer
3 -
For real though. I see so many survivor complaints about pallets and windows but nobody cares when killers say grabs has been bugged for almost a year by now, or gen regression sucks, weapon attack cooldown, FOV, just minor stuff that killers have to go through.
5 -
Nurse players are known for using this to see over the fatigue. I feel BHVR could stop this by putting in borders around the FOV like they do when the maps load.
4 -
Agree completely, I've been saying for years shadowborn should be made base for all killers, the field of view change and feeling less sluggish makes a huge difference. I genuinely can't play huntress without shadowborn.
2 -
Your system could just be strong enough to handle it, but increasing FOV always negatively impacts performance. This would be a major concern for players on last-gen consoles or low-end PCs who already have performance concerns at the current FOV.
1 -
That's not at all logical
1 -
It's not really that important
0 -
God forbid it become an optional setting that makes a very negligible difference to last gen consoles the devs clearly don't have any intention on optimizing.
2 -
Ignoring the numerous positive changes they've made to killers lately because "that's just a specific killer" makes no sense. There's also no need to make this a semantic argument about what QoL means and what qualifies as a QoL change.
Substantially increasing base FOV is a major balance and gameplay concern. It's not simply QoL.
1 -
He mean over all for everyone
2 -
Then tell me about how it affects balance -_-
1 -
Wait they change the sensitivity on blight so i can play him like on pc?
1 -
Because it doesn't fit your narrative?
It also helps in tracking survivors when vaulting, breaking pallets and when they're juking.
4 -
This actually might be the case for my fps drops only on dbd. Since I use Shadowborn I get fps drops for some reason on a 2080 TI/10900k only on dbd so I wonder.
2 -
It's not important because if your far ahead of her she still won't see you due to the blur, same with pallet breaks..and good , juking should be about timing and movement not unnecessary blind spots that shouldn't exist , add some skill to survivor..next argument for me to dismantle?
1 -
Unnecessary because you dismantled none.
3 -
Here's a screenshot of patch notes from the update today:
I haven't played with it yet but im excited to.
1 -
It makes stealth harder to pull off for survivors, for one, and improves killer tracking a bit since scratch marks, crows, etc. in a wider radius would help the killer detect a survivor. It also makes a number of techs, jukes, spins, etc. harder or even impossible for survivors to pull off, because these tend to specifically rely on the killer having a low FOV. It allows Nurse to have better tracking while on fatigue because she can still see the feet of fleeing survivors instead of fully losing visibility for a couple of seconds. It would also likely require some changes to M&A and Shadowborn because it wouldn't make sense to tie FOV to perks in a game with an FOV slider or high base FOV.
1 -
Dang well with that setup you should really be able to run this game at Ultra / 60 FPS / 1080p no sweat even with Shadowborn, but you could always try taking off Shadowborn to see, especially if you're running the game at 4k or if you uncapped the frame rate.
Do you know anything more about when those FPS drops happen? I notice them when a status effect gets applied to me for the first time in a match. For example, getting M1'd by a killer with Sloppy Butcher briefly freezes the game and usually sends me running into a wall.
2 -
It happens just completely randomly when I play killer. I don't get fps drops as survivor. I have fps capped at 60 and play on low, but dbd is the only game that I get fps dips on, and I think it might be because of Shadowborn.
0 -
Hence why I said remove them and just rework shadowborn, monitor is only used for the tr reduction anyway
0 -
Your right, there was no point there to dismantle my bad, have a good day^^
0 -
I used Shadowborn on my brief Xbox one jaunt and it definitely caused even more frame drops than usual.
1 -
It makes stealth a lot harder.
Edit: It also makes it easier to track in a chase.
1 -
Yeah, that's how most QoL changes work. Bit by bit, making things better.
Who said nobody cares about grabs being wonky? Personally I think the regression rate is fine, but there should be automatic 10% regression from a kick. There's nothing wrong with weapon attack cooldown. The FoV is fine.
0 -
Too slow , and the base fov is far from fine
0 -
In your opinion.
1 -
No, it's actually borderline a health hazard
0 -
Lmao
0 -
It actually is very straining to the eyes, might wanna look it up
0 -
I agree with idea of giving killers basekit QoL improvements, but I don't agree with the suggestions exactly
0 -
I've yet to hear a single good reason as to why not so far
0 -
Damn, on low with a 2080 Ti and an i7? Something's definitely wonky. I'd submit a bug report if removing Shadowborn solves it.
