As someone who has very limited knowledge of Resi Evil, say they do what they did for Silent Hill? A map, a Killer, and a Survivor from three different games. What games would you like them to be from, and who from those games? As far as I understand, the first four games are liked, and 5 and 6 are the black sheep of the family, so I don't think we're too likely to get anything from those ones. Or do you think either Resi 7 or Resi 8 will be chosen?

Does MCote's STARS tweet way back make you theorize? I know Nemesis says "STARS" a lot, so does that make him more likely in your opinion? Does Felix being the chosen survivor to scream in the teaser make you think it will be a male survivor?

I don't really care about the map all that much, but having places like Spencer Mansion, The R.P.D, The Streets of Raccoon City, or The Baker Estate would all be cool.

I'd want Leon/Claire/Chris/Jill from the the first and second RE games, because they're all iconic characters.

And as for the killer, I want Jack Baker from RE7. In my opinion, I find both Nemesis and Mr. X kind of boring, not to mention I just don't think they would fit in dbd. Jack would make for a much better villain.

I feel like this chapter should be a celebration of Resident Evil as a whole, not just the older or newer games. Using characters solely from the older games would be discrediting the modern games, and vise versa.

I think the newer games would have a much better chance of being included if they didn't recently do remake 2 and 3 which both did pretty well with 2 doing amazing. Remakes kind of change this imo

RE1 Tyrant, RE2/3 RPD/Streets of Racoon City ( a half indoors half outdoors map would be cool, I detest the indoors maps) and either Jill/Claire or Leon.

Assuming they pull something from each of the first 3:

I'm hoping for Jill + Chris (#1), Racoon City Police Department map (#2), and Nemesis killer (#3).

I'm expecting Leon + Claire (#2), Spencer Mansion map (#1), and Nemesis killer (#3).

    I guess I understand that.

I'm not quite sure of the stats, but I'm pretty sure Resident Evil 7 sold more than the 2 Remake, and it definitely did better than the 3 Remake. Judging by how people are reacting to it, I wouldn't be surprised if 8 did better than them too.

I have absolutely no assumptions because I don't think just because they treated the SH chapter a certain way, that they'll do the same here.

What I'd love to have (regardless of likelihood) are the following:

    1. Two survivors - any combination of Chris, Jill, Leon, Claire, or Ethan
    2. TWO killers - any combo or Mr. X, Birkin, Nemesis, Lady D, and Jack Baker
    3. A map in the mansion, the police department, or even the Raccoon City streets

    Alice_pbg Member Posts: 6,722

    same.

it would feel weird to not get a mansion map for RE.

    I disagree.

1st - You gotta get the iconic characters from a franchise. who is iconic in the newer games? the witches? or the big vampire lady people can't say the name but want her to sit on them? They might be great games, but in comparison with the older games, no one knows them.

2nd - the remakes are very recent, so those famous characters are known by new fans aswell.

    3rd - getting characters just from X doesn't discredit Y.

Yeah I agree as well. I believe 7 did better than 3 but remake 2 and 7 I think we're pretty similar success wise (I could be totally off). 8 has already set some records and I'm sure will be setting more records soon.

7 has difficulty with having limited options to implement outside of Ethan. Jack could be cool but if he didn't carry over his personality it would be pretty disappointing since that's what really makes him interesting and I doubt dbd could effectively add his personality.

RE8 is actually the fastest selling RE game yet, I'm expecting, since not only the reviews are so great but you have so many streamers playing it, it could be the bestselling one yet

  • Dabihwow
    Dabihwow Member Posts: 3,409

I mean I do believe it but in terms of end game content, there really isn't that much other then replaying the whole game to get points or mercenaries but thats it, maybe in the future they'll add a DLC then I'll consider it

  • JimboMason
    JimboMason Member Posts: 759

Thats my only con with the game, I felt like it should've been like RE7 and the second run for RE2, where you have key items in different areas, and enemies and puzzles are spiced up a bit

  • IWasLeft2Die
    IWasLeft2Die Member Posts: 2,405

That's how most of the games have kinda been honestly some with even less content and some with more.

There is also reverse coming to it (which I'm not that excited about honestly)

Id be a bit surprised if re8 doesn't get future dlc related to the main game since it's doing so well financially

  • Dabihwow
    Dabihwow Member Posts: 3,409

Yeah I mean RE 7 didn't really follow that pattern but I get what you mean. However RE Village is still rather new so it is possible for a future DLC

I'm doing a new playthrough now on a harder difficulty. I started with standard and went to hard which has still been really fun for me so far. I'm about done with the castle portion again

  • QwQw
    QwQw Member Posts: 4,698

I too would be pretty disappointed if Jack was the killer, but Behavior stripped him of his personality. Honestly though, I doubt they would do that. I mean, our most recent killer Trickster talks during the match, I don't think it'd be a stretch to assume Jack would as well.

I agree that there should be iconic characters. That's literally what I wrote in my first post.

"I'd want Leon/Claire/Chris/Jill from the the first and second RE games, because they're all iconic characters."

And to answer your question, Jack Baker is. Despite 7 only being out for around four years, I'd definitely label Jack as "iconic". 7 was the game that saved the franchise from whatever path 5 and 6 was leading it down. It preformed extremely well, and many people loved it's characters and story. 8 is a bit of different tale, seeing as how the game's only been out for a couple of days. Even with that though, saying "No one knows them." in regards to Lady D and her daughters is laughable. Almost everyone on the internet knows who they are; RE fan or not.

I feel like remake or not, any new fan of the series would eventually find out who Neme, X, Birkin, Leon, Jill, and the rest of gang is. Though yeah, the remakes definitely spread their influence.

As someone who's only a Resident Evil fan because of the newer games, it'd feel like a slap in the face if Behavior didn't acknowledge them at all with this chapter. I imagine the exact same feeling would happen if Behavior didn't bother touching the old games at all, and only used characters from the new games. So yes, using characters from X games would discredit the characters from Y games in my opinion.

Good point, hopefully we get to see some stuff that was cut out of the original plans of the game, such as Ada Wong, who was going to make an appearance and help Ethan in the story, but was cut out due to complications

Nice, I recommend getting infinite ammo magnum, it shreds through everything and is needed for a complete run in under 3 hours

To preface, I don't really want him in myself. I'd rather have mrx.

Nemesis can work if they did his base form without rocket launcher (could even do his flamethrower version)

    IWasLeft2Die Member Posts: 2,405

I'm hopeful that we get an Ada mini story since they had already worked on some content for her in the game.

  • QwQw
    QwQw Member Posts: 4,698

I see no reason why Capcom wouldn't make any DLC for 8, especially since the game is so popular.

  • Alice_pbg
    Alice_pbg Member Posts: 6,722

granted I don't check them all the time, but whenever I saw "top 10 resi monsters or villains" or something like that, Jack never really apeared, or if he did he was low. but who really knows with these things... it all depends on which part of the internet you happen to look at.

"no one knows them" is obviously just hyperbole, but it's like comparing who knows X current singer vs who knows, let's say, the beatles. it's not even fair.

they will probably acknowledge the newer games in some way. but the killer is the biggest selling point of a chapter, I really don't see them not picking a more classic monster/villain.

and sidenote, it's capcom... the characters will probably have 20 different skins and half of them will be the "claire skin", "sheeva skin", "wesker skin". maybe witches skin for the spirit (I didn't play resi 8 yet, heard their powers work similar to spirit).

I know it doesn't really work power wise... but plague would rock a Lady D skin.

I'd be a little disappointed, but I'll take having newer characters as legendary skins over not having them at all.

  • JesseJH28

I can't help but feel like something from RE8 is going to be in the chapter. Inside Castle Dimitrescu you can hear Meg's scream from the little cutscene when you load up DBD, and you can find an "Ingrid's Necklace" within the castle; the voice actor for Meg just happens to be named Ingrid. Could just be fun little easter eggs, but I can't help but think there's something more there.

Either way, I'm happy with whatever we get. I have a preference for 7 and 8 just because I started with 7 but I'm all for the old characters coming to dbd as well.

  • JimboMason
    JimboMason Member Posts: 759

For me, I think its just small easter eggs that capcom put in since they're doing the RE chapter with DBD, or its just curveballs

  • JesseJH28
    JesseJH28 Member Posts: 483

I wouldn't at all be surprised if that was the case. Fun to speculate either way!

  • DrStone
    DrStone Member Posts: 132

No he's not. He's a monster from a horror game, that isn't out of DbD's style which wants to widen the roster of killers.

Him just shooting his rocket launcher the whole match would be out of style, but giving him the power of brute strenght or some tentacles, with maybe a rocket launcher as his second ability, would work.

I think we'll be getting one of these 3:

    1. RPD Station, Leon & Claire, Mr. X. RE2 remake was one of the most acclaimed horror games post-2015. RE3 is somewhat controversial for the short length and high price. REmake is a classic, but an older classic and more known to dedicated RE fans (kinda weird that RE2 remake is more popular than the REmake but ig the same thing happened to Silent Hill).
    2. Spencer Mansion, Leon & Claire, Nemesis. Like the Silent Hill chapter, you get the best of the first 3 games.
    3. RE8 map, survivor(s) and killer with older RE content being in the form of legendary skins. Capcom probably forced this to build hype for the new game.

I'm praying it's not the third.

  • IWasLeft2Die
    IWasLeft2Die Member Posts: 2,405

I really doubt it's the 3rd partially that capcom clearly doesn't need dbd to hype up re8 since it's already set a number of records

  • AnneBonny

Yeah, still the reveal for this chapter has been.. weird. Hard to put my finger on it. Maybe I just worry too much lol

I personally only watched re7 and I'm close to finishing a re8 stream.

Tbh, I think Donna would make a great killer. Not iconic, but I think anyone that's played/seen her segement from re8 can agree it is just pure terror. I would like seeing her work like Myers or Oni, her final form being the baby. Let's be honest, that thing can easily make a place in a top 10 scariest creatures in horror history.

As for survivors, I see why people would want Chris, Leon or Claire. But... Considering game lore, since (SPOILER ALERT)

Ethan is dead, it would make much more sense to get him a survivor. He also fits this theme more, and I can't wait to see a perk realted to his hand treatment.

I could honestly see them adding stuff from multiple games but, if I'm being 100% honest(not saying this is how I would do it but just going off of BHVR's track record) I think they're going to be sticking mostly to the original trilogy with maybe one character being from the newer games. I could most certainly see a combo happening though and, with recent cough cough leaks cough, it's looking like they're going ALL OUT on this chapter with three DLC slots being recently added. Now, I know that could be another skin pack or you know, a paragraph or entirely new chapter on it's own but, lets just go with it being RE for now. I'm going to go a bit wild here and say that, to get the most out of this chapter we could be seeing

Leon- He's a HUGE fan favorite and arguably the face of the RE franchise to most. I'd even go as far to argue that, if we were getting one survivor for this chapter, it'll be him.

Jill- A absolute classic character and who is almost always also in the top 3 in terms of polls and fan favorites as well. She's even regarded as one of the leading ladies of video games in general so, I could totally see Jill being the female survivor.

Nemesis- Come on, he's arguably the most iconic monster in the entire RE franchise. He's so iconic to the point that you could probably walk up to a few random people on the street and, though they may not know his name, they'll probably say he's from Resident Evil. Plus, to add onto that, this is RE's 25th anniversary so I just feel like they're going to add a classic RE monster as a killer and, to add further onto that, Capcom LOVES to put Nemesis in crossovers. If something calls for a Resident Evil villain, you can almost guarantee Nemesis will be there.

Jack Baker- Though he may not have the legacy or recognition as some other classic characters do, Jack, for quite a bit of modern gamers, is the new monster THEY knew from this franchise. Jack is a fun character and, even though he's pretty simple in his main game(being able to tank anything and regenerate is pretty standard in RE lets be honest) but, thanks to the mold and End of Zoe DLC, I feel like Jack could def have some unique power potential.

Bro,Lady D is literallyt Re 8 Promo girl choosed by Capcom itself and she appear in less than a chapter and is the first to die

Remotely thinking or saying Lady D and Jack aren't iconic is really hideos.

  • N0IDEA
    N0IDEA Member Posts: 149

I don't even think Demongorgon should be a killer but I can accept considering that it's the ST icon character, but adding a Zombied Tank just because "It's scary" (and isn't) is just bullshit. I would rather have Mr.X, cause he is iconic and at least make some sense

Map the place your in re 8 or the town from re5

    Killer nemmisis or mr.x

Survivor chris ( he is in multiple games so hez probably best bet)

  • IWasLeft2Die
    IWasLeft2Die Member Posts: 2,405

Now if they did an Re8 chapter, and that's a big if and I highly doubt it would happen

    Survivor Ethan obviously

Killer Heisenberg since he would fit more easily in the game than lady D

Map either the town square or the castle main areas with the factory as a distant 3rd

Yeah.. sorry if that's a spoiler to ya. I figured it would be good to temper people's expectations of her. She is cool and does feel like she should be later in the game but the other sections are a lot of fun as well so it works out well enough

For killer, I'd love to see Nemesis. Not just because he has an array of weapons, a signature Mori in waiting (poor Brad!), and would be a daunting presence, but also because his character design would allow Legendary outfits for Tyrant, Mr. X, William Birkin and any other Tyrant variant.

For survivor, I'd quite like to see Leon take the stage. If they did do a "Stranger Things" take and add 2 survivors, then Claire could also join. Both of them pretty much could have skins of everyone from Rebecca, Sherry, Chris, Jill, Ethan and more. However, if they only choose one survivor, I would elect Leon for the simple reason that since Stranger Things we've only had one chapter with a male survivor, so some variety would be good.

As for the map, The Spencer Mansion is very iconic, but as a nod to modern-day RE I'd actually go for Baker Farm. The Mansion, R.P.D. and similar are all very large spaces, but with chapters like Silent Hill and Saw not getting the greatest of praise in terms of maps, and the MacMillan Estate still generally liked more than most, then maybe this farm setting could be a better choice.

  • Dr_Loomis
    Dr_Loomis Member Posts: 3,703

I would like to see Resident Evil 2, with Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield as survivors, Mr X as killer and the Police Station as a map.

Also include Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine as legendary skins.
