So I thought Spirit was balanced until

I don't mind Stridor spirit if you aren't using headphones that cost more than my rent 3x.

Not even wrong though lol.

I'm not saying Spirit should be nerfed. I'm saying that Stridor spirit is absolutely busted, and majority of Spirit players use Stridor.

She is balanced, you just failed to hide efficiently while you were still healthy. Strider on any killer while your injured has the advantage vs stealth.

People keep bringing it up because it's true and very well-known in the comp community. As much as Scott makes valid points in many videos, he is straight up wrong in that regard. The animation resets when she charges her phase. Intended mechanic or not, it's a thing.

Okay I literally would stand there, and walk around, and she would phase right on top of me when I was healthy. I did not run, and I tried my best to hide. If you have expensive headphones with spirit it's not hard to play her. It's prob below freddy threshold on skill needed.

She is anything but balanced, there is no counterplay against her.
1 -
As a wise man once said, even if she burst into flames upon phasing, that wouldn't fix the actual issue here.
0 -
She has plenty of counterplay, it's just that a majority of it is pre-chase. Her most exploitable weakness is visual impairment and devs gave her a huge audio que for when it's active/ approaching. No sense calling it unbalanced; a single advantage she gets only after putting in the work to injure you and requires a perk.
A slow killer designed to cut out chase using only scratches and audio. Seems pretty balanced if your not trying to force a win where her strength applies.

She gives no indication as to when she is when phasing nor where she is. She has several cues as to where you are however which makes her power incredibly one-sided as well as without any sort of valid counterplay.
These cues include scratch marks, groans of pain when injured, breathing, and footsteps as well as noise when slow vaulting anything.
You can't counter her, only guess and hope you made the right choice. You can also attempt to make it harder for the mediocre spirit to catch you, but it won't work if the spirit you are up against is smart.

Counterplay has to work 100% of the time to be valid?
1 -
Never even implied that. but no of course not.

I've played agaisnt a lot of Spirits, but they weren't as nearly as much as a miserable experience then that one that's for sure. They weren't stacking expensive headphones with Stridor, but Stridor is still busted on even 50 dollar headphones.

Swarovski Headphones with little diamonds on them.

Not unless your tv/monitor has actual decent speakers.

To me they should make the sounds she hears muffled/echoed?
This way survivors’ cries and grunts aren’t so easy to spot where not seeing a survivor basically means nothing because you know exactly where the sounds are coming from.
Lore wise it makes sense as to me every time she Phases she is in a spiritual plane.
1 -
That could work, maybe make it so the muffled sound starts out light but intensifies the longer she uses her power.
If stridor is an issue, what about making it so that it simply is not active while a killer is actively using their power?

The forum is full of people claiming there's counterplay to anything, and the majority refuse to elucidate.
You can't just say 'there's counterplay', you have to say what it is.

Personally I think Stridor is fine. The killer is spending a whole perk slot to get those cries and grunts.
I think for me the problem with Spirit is very evident that it is far too easy to pinpoint the exact location of an injured survivor. That’s why most Spirits M1 first and then use their power. By making is a bit harder to pinpoint the survivor’s exact location, opens doors for more mind-games from the survivor’s side.

That would be fair, and I think that would open up a lot of possibilities for counterplay.

I personally had a hard time playing with her on rank 1 lately. i think a lot of good survivors have learned how to play against her over the time and all the people that are crying on the forums are just not able to adapt or don't want to. All the general tactics that work against other killers work against her too (delaying the first down to deny pressure etc). I clarified this a lot of times but here again: not everyone is super good with her, i'm often overwhelmed by the possibilites that survivors have and start to think too much and make wrong decisions. Especially if they manage to juke me one time then i get nervous.
I'm just an average red rank spirit, nothing special, i do mistakes, but what i want to say with that is: Your average Spirit is very beatable. The times were you encounter a Tournament-Spirit who reads every of your mindgames, outpositions you etc and uses every trace possible to pinpoint your exact location are very rare. I play against a Spirit every 20th game or so (EU) and she is not a killer that i have big problems with playing against.

Imagine killers had sound like it was before those 2+ times the devs screwed them up.

do you think stepping in trapper's traps and then escaping is valid counterplay? would trapper be ok if this were the only way to disarm his traps? just wondering, since you just said what you just said.
0 -
Thats exactly why I say the Spirit shouldn’t be able to hear breathing or pain sounds when she’s phasing. This is the bare minimum nerf she needs, nothing more than that.
0 -
Had to check if they really cost that and they actually do, in any case my headphones costed like 20€ and I never had any trouble hearing footsteps or grass moving as Spirit or anyone else in this game.
Problem with Spirit is if the headphones are decent enough they get the job done and decent enough are not prohibitive expensive.

What is this indication?

I can't use my brain for the whole community. From perks to legit holding Shift + W can counter her.
Instead of just waiting throw the pallet down to get the stun throw it down to deny her fake phasing potential. But of course to survivor's this is considered 'boring' as if killers are just bots and chases are all about survivor's.
As for perks IW does wonders against her. "But Stridor counters IW" yet Yin and Yang are capable of doing things the other can't.
Like I said, I can't use my brain for the whole community.

i play spirit with a logitech g 433 and is a ez 4k. Spirit is to strong.

I'm not even sure what point you're trying to make here. Honestly, if that change was made for Trapper, I still don't think he would even hit B tier so yeah he would be ok.
But this is a disingenuous comparison. The trappers traps are based off of RNG. People call what the spirit does a 50/50, but there's actually no random chance involved. It's like how rock paper scissors can seem random, but people can be consistently good at it.

sorry but as i know this one is inconsistent, that means sometimes you could use that when the animation reset but you couldn't always rely on it

Spirit is extremely easy to play and using an argument that hearing is hard is just dumb.
Right now I sit on a generic realtek integrated sound card with cheapo 15$ headphones.
Due to how weak sounds are in dbd, it is more than enough to hear 95% of sounds besides few VERY minor cues. Spirit is nothing more than a homing missile with a sonar.
Before that, I used slitly more expensive headset, just 5$ more but also had a dedicated sound card, Creative Fatal1ty XtremeGamer Profesional, almost 20 years old card.
Besides cringe name... Holy crap. That card I bought for 25$, that made sounds in any form so dang clear, lively and extremely easy to pin point even on these dang cheap stereo headphones. Sadly, it was only for PCI slot and my new MB doesn't have any but only PCI-e.
So, to do great, you need a 15$ headphones, just a tier higher than Chinese trash you find in bargain baskets.
If you want to do flawlessly, get a sound card, basically anything but integrated, it will change your cheap crapsets into 500$ ones that makes you coffee each time you get a salty message from an SWF players.
Tl;dr
If the spirit player isn't deaf, there is no counterplay at all. Nothing, null, zero.
